《The Official Douche Bag Travel Guide of Chad Barrington》Travel Tip #5: Sabotage

Chad's time in the infirmary took a lot longer than he first thought it might, which was a lucky break for the manager and his staff. He was injected with some anti-venom, which surprised Chad as he didn't think it could get any worse. Thankfully the bite was now cleaned up and carefully bandaged. It still hurt like hell, so the nurse working there offered him some pain killers to take the edge off. He happily accepted them but he was still unable to put a lot of pressure on his foot as it had swollen up a bit. It was over an hour later when the manager returned to the room with someone else behind him. The man was carrying a small plastic cage and they were both smiling.
"Good news, Mr. Barrington." The manager said, gesturing to the cage. "We captured the culprit. He will not be biting anyone else in the near future."
Chad looked at the plastic container that the man was holding and inside it was the hideous thing that had attacked him in his sleep. It didn't look as big as the first time he had seen it, but it was the same spider that had caused the pain he was suffering from.
"Get that fucking thing away from me!" Chad spat at the manager.
"Of course," the manager said, motioning for the man to leave which he did immediately. The manager then produced a new set of keys from his pocket. "Once the pest was taken care of, we had your things moved to your new room. We even had our pest control specialist look through it first and he gave us the all clear."
"Good thinking," Chad said, taking the keys from him.
"I hope you are pleased with your new room," the manager repeated.
"Since it's now spider free," Chad started, "I am sure I'll be able to sleep a little better this time."
"The contents of the mini bars, as well as the other amenities are all complimentary." The manager added, "Please enjoy the rest of your stay."
"Thank you," Chad said, in a voice that was calmer and more polite.
The manager took that and ran with it, departing the infirmary without saying another word. Chad layed back down on the bed he was resting on and tried to relax. He wasn't down for more than ten minutes when Frankie Senior came bursting into the room, coming over to be at Chad's side.
"I heard what happened from the staff," Frankie Senior said to him, "How are you faring? How bad is it?"
Chad sat up and gestured to his foot, which was now mostly wrapped up in medical gauze. "That little bastard has at least been caught, so unless he has a family no one else will be bitten at least for a little while."
"That's good to hear," Frankie Senior said, looking down at his foot. "That bug really did a number on you!"
"Spider," Chad corrected, "I was bitten by a huge spider, and I think Doris was too. That's why they gave her a needle here, anti-venom just in case."
"Damn," Frankie Senior said, sighing loudly, "I hate spiders."
"So do I," Chad whined, "So how do you think I feel?"
"Terrible I'm guessing," Frankie Senior said offering a hand. "Come out with me."
"Where are you taking him?" the infirmary nurse asked.
"Just out to lay by the pool," Frankie Senior answered, "Get him outside for a little fresh air."

"Alright," the nurse said, "Do you need crutches Mr. Barrington?"
"Just a cane, please." Chad replied.
She passed him a cane and Chad used it to slowly limp out of the infirmary, and he was happy to finally be out of there as Frankie Senior walked him outside to the massive pool where there were tons of kids and women swimming around.
"Why are you bringing me here?" Chad asked, witnessing the chaos going on in the pool before him.
"Because this pool has something beside it that your infirmary doesn't," Frankie Senior informed him, "An open bar."
"Good point," Chad said as he kept walking.
Doris and Frankie Junior were laying out the beach chairs with their feet up when the two of them finally strolled over.
"Chad," Doris started, "I'm sorry you got bitten too."
"Thank you, Doris." Chad said as he looked around, there wasn't a single empty seat around.
"Junior," Frankie Senior called to his son, "Jump in the pool so Mr. Barrington will have somewhere to rest his aching foot."
"Alright," the young boy said with a sigh as he put down his portable game system and jumped into the crowded pool.
Chad sat down in the now vacated seat and used it to elevate his sore foot.
"He likes you," Doris observed, "Junior doesn't like crowds, so he wouldn't do that for just anyone."
"He's a good kid," Chad agreed, more aware of that than his parents.
"He sure is," the boy's mother agreed.
"Just relax, Chad," Frankie Senior said, eager to help him out, "Just tell me what you want and I'll fetch it for you. What do you need?"
"I'll take a double white Russian," Chad answered, "And could you grab me a few Brooklyn Bars?"
"Brooklyn Bars?" Doris repeated, confused.
"He means the candy bar, sweetie." Frankie Senior told her, "I saw them at the gift shop. How many do you need?"
"Just three," Chad said as he reached for his wallet.
"Don't you dare," Frankie Senior called out, "This one's on me."
"Are you sure about that?" Chad asked, but he was hoping he was because he just realized his wallet was left behind in his room.
"I am," Frankie Senior replied, "Just rest up and I'll go get it."
Chad layed back in his chair and took a deep breath as he watched his new friend wander up to the bar to fetch him a drink. He closed his eyes, hoping none of the brats in the pool would try to splash him with a cannonball or a jackknife for shits and giggles. Turns out that would have been less annoying than what actually did happen moments later when someone stood in front of the sun, casting a shadow that was hard for him not to notice. When he opened his eyes, looking down on him was a familiar face. It was Harrison; the very dick that tried to steal his seat on the airplane.
"Councillor Douche Bag," Harrison said with a smile, aware that Chad was likely not very fond of his viral nickname.
"What did you call him?" Doris snapped back, taking her sunglasses off.
Chad was surprised by her defensive posture but he calmed her down as he waved her back.
"Don't worry about it, Doris." Chad informed her, "It's a viral thing on the net that I've had to get used to."

"Oh," Doris replied, "Doesn't give this jerk a license to be a dick."
"She's got a point, Harrison." Chad observed.
"Sorry about that Chad," Harrison said, still smiling. "I see you've injured yourself. Are you alright?"
"Just a small skirmish with a local pest," Chad told him, "I should be okay especially now that threat has been neutralized."
"Well, I'd like to take a look." Harrison then said as he knelt down. "May I?"
Harrison was the last person that Chad would have thought was a medical professional, but he nodded and watched as Harrison gingerly unwrapped the foot to have a look at the big bug bite that had swollen a bit.
"Doesn't look too bad," Harrison observed, "But I'd recommend you get the nurse in the infirmary to clean it up two times a day to prevent infection."
"Thanks," Chad said as he watched Harrison wrap the foot back up even better than the nurse had the first time.
"Try to play nice," Harrison informed him, "Don't give karma another reason to kick you in the arse."
"Noted," Chad said, surprised that his foot felt more comfortable. "Thank you."
"I'll see you around, Councillor." Harrison said, walking away.
Frankie Senior came walking back with a few drinks. "Who was that?"
"A medical professional apparently," Chad answered, "Thanks for the drink. Where are my bars?"
"Right here," Frankie Senior said, pulling them out of his pocket. "I grabbed them while the bartender mixed our drinks."
"I didn't see you go," Chad said, taking the bars. "You're still fast."
"Not that fast," Frankie Senior said, laughing as he sat down on the part of Doris' chair where she left her feet up. "Listen, Chad. I need to ask you for a favor."
"Shoot," Chad said, hoping it was a chance to complain to the manager again.
"I want to take Doris out for a nice dinner, something romantic." Frankie Senior started, "Could you watch Junior for us? We'd be more comfortable if he had someone watching him rather than leaving him in his room alone."
"If I agree," Chad said, thinking about it. "Do we have to restrict ourselves to the room?"
"No, no," Doris replied, "You're a friend of the family. You guys can do things but try to stay on or close to the resort."
"Good idea," Chad said, "Sure, I can watch the rug rat for ya."
"Thanks man," Frankie Senior said, very pleased. "You're a life saver!"
"Don't worry about it," Chad replied, "But leave Junior with some money, so he can have a little petty cash. I don't charge to help friends, but a young man needs to buy his own stuff."
"Fair enough," Frankie Senior said, "Makes sense."
"What makes sense?" Frankie Junior said as he came over from the pool, grabbing a towel to dry himself off.
"You mother and I are going out," his father told him, "Chad here is going to watch you while we're gone."
"Okay," Frankie Junior said, "Can we watch PPV movies?"
"Sure," Frankie Senior answered, "As long as they're PG-13 or under."
"Alright," Frankie Junior huffed.
"And here," his old man said as he dug into his wallet, "Here's twenty-five..."
Chad coughed loudly, interrupting the old man who paused and took the hint.
"Here's fifty bucks," Frankie Senior said, handing it to his kid. "In case you want to buy something while we're gone."
"Thanks dad," Frankie Junior said, taking the money and stuffing it into the small bag that contained his hand-held video game device. "When are you guys taking off?"
"Right now," Doris replied, "You can take my chair and rest with Mr. Barrington."
"Okay," Frankie Junior said as he sat down after his mom got up. "How long will you guys be out?"
"We're not sure," Frankie said, turning to face Chad, "I'm sorry, you didn't have any plans for tonight?"
"No, I didn't." Chad said, gesturing to his foot, "And if I did, this kind of cancelled them for me. There's no way I could do much with that."
"Good point," Frankie Senior agreed, "Thanks man, I'll see you later!"
Frankie Junior and Chad watched as the young man's parents walked away from the pool and back into the resort to head back to their room to change and prepare for a nice evening together.
"How's that for karma?" Frankie Junior asked.
"What do you mean?" Chad retorted with a question of his own.
"You pulled off this whole act off," Frankie explained, "And my parents used it to land a free babysitter."
"I don't see it that way," Chad said, sipping his White Russian. "I got me a wingman without having to use a creepy lie, and we have your Dad to back up our story if necessary."
"Good point," Frankie said, "But that will cost you."
"I know," Chad agreed, "I've got you covered. You don't need that cash for spending money so keep it stashed. I'll be covering all expenses."
"Sweet," Frankie said, laying back. "So what do we do now?"
"For now," Chad started, "I'm content to stay here, and relax. Why not go back in the pool and have fun?"
"It's too crowded," Frankie replied, "I hate crowded pools."
"I've got you covered there too," Chad said, picking up one of the chocolate bars that Frankie's Dad bought for him. "If you want to clear a pool, then drop a stool."
"What the hell does that mean?" Frankie asked.
"Do me a favor," Chad said, pointing to another end of the pool. "Walk over there and pretend to stub your foot, and scream loudly to get everyone's attention then limp back here to rest."
"Okay," Frankie said, as he hopped off the chair and pretended to walk over to the diving board. About halfway there, he pretended to stub his toe on one of the table legs and cried out in pain. He didn't sell it too hard, just enough to get everyone's attention. While everyone was looking away, Chad took the chocolate bar that was already out of its wrapper, and softly tossed it into the pool.
He had asked Frankie Senior for the Brooklyn Bar for a reason, because without the wrapper the popular candy bar with its dark chocolate covering always looked like a turd. So now it would look like to the average person looking up from above the water that there was a decent sized bowel movement in the resort's massive pool.
Frankie walked back to the chair with the help of the life guard on duty and lay down and pretended to rest his sore toe. He then looked back to Chad.
"So did it work?" Frankie asked.
"Wait for it." Chad told him, whispering.
"Wait for what?" Frankie asked.
Before Chad could reply, one of the girls in the pool pointed to something and called out to her mother.
"Mommy," the girl said to her mom, who was also laying by the pool, "I think someone made a doo doo in the pool."
Her mother leaped up from her chair and walked over to the pool to look, and down there at the bottom was a small brown thing that looked like...
"Shit!" the mother called out, "Someone has taken a shit in the pool!"
The lifeguard hopped off his stand and walked over to look, "Ah crap!"
"Precisely," Chad whispered.
"Everyone out!" the lifeguard shouted out, "We have feces in the pool!"
The people in the pool didn't have to be asked twice as everyone in cleared the pool in record time. Frankie watched with amazement as families picked up all their stuff and either went back into the building, or decided to spend the rest of their afternoon at the beach which was a five-minute walk away.
The lifeguard went into the pool and when he came back up there was a smile on his face. "It's only a candy bar!"
"It is?" Chad said, trying to look serious. "Well at least you don't have to close the pool, right?"
"Nope, we're good." The lifeguard said as he walked out and tossed the candy bar into the trash.
"Will everyone come back now?" Frankie asked.
"Not for a few hours," Chad answered, "Rumor of a turd will also keep the numbers here low for a while. Have fun, it's all yours."
Frankie had a smile on his face as he ran up and cannon balled back into the pool with the same big smile on his face. He had the whole pool to himself for at least the next hour. He was able to use the slides and the diving board without any lines and had the best time ever and without having to bump into people every five seconds.
"Excuse me, Sir." A worker from the hotel said as she walked up, "Can I get you another drink?"
"Yes," Chad said, handing her the now empty glass. "I'd like a double White Russian, please."
"Yes, Sir." She said, taking the glass and walking back to the bar.
"This is awesome!" Frankie called out from the pool.
Chad gave him the thumbs up before laying back on his chair, finally able to relax uninterrupted for the first time that day.
