Volume 1 Chapter 7 Tragedy V2
Jack’s good life would however come to an end pretty quickly.
He was playing with Christopher and Heather in the harbor of the forest; the leaves were falling on them. The blades of fire were all over the ground because nobody bothered to gather them up.
His gleeful time was slowly coming to its inevitable end. Finding treasure, playing with friends, going to school, and passing time with his mother, all of these were things that could come to an end so quickly.
When came the winter, the young mother named Vanessa Lynch, fell gravely ill; her condition was worsening with everyday that passed.
Jack could do no nothing, powerless in front of his kin slowly dying with pain as guardian angel; guardian demon would be a more appropriate term.
However Jack had a plan, his family was too poor to afford any medication, but he had something better; the Bone Ring.
While his mother was sleeping, he sneaked in her room, put the jewel on his mother’s pinkie and swiftly left without a word.
The next morning, his mother didn’t feel any better, as always her condition was worse than the day before.
Vanessa knew she had no more time left; her biggest regret was not being able to see her son grow into a fine gentleman. Her son was so precious, he never lied to her nor did he hid things from her; which is to be expected when a kid finds something they think is valuable.
The unending sleep was coming for her, her run from death had come to an end; everybody was running from it all their life, but nobody could outrun it. One day they will face a wall and that day was very soon for the mother.
And as everyone dies one day, Vanessa’s turn has come. She died in pain, with her helpless son watching her with the look of an abandoned puppy.
The devastated youth was broken; he didn’t even say a word when Father Alger and Mars took him to the orphanage.
Jack however wasn’t crying, he was puzzled; why? Was his mother really dead? Why would his mother hide from him? Where was she? Why did the ring not work? What even was the ring? Why did his mother die? Why did his father do nothing to help? Where was his father? Who was his father? Which sick monster would leave his family to die? Why were he and his mother too poor to afford treatment? Why was medicine so costly? Why did the goddess do nothing? Was his mother not pious enough? Was going to church only once per week not enough? If the problem was them not going to church enough he would pray every day. Why do people even die? Did the goddess even exist? Yes, doubting her existence was sin. Who was Mars? Why did nobody help them when they were in a bad situation? Did the problem stem from too high taxes? Could anybody have even helped them? Why was he so weak that he couldn’t save his mother from disease? Could Chus save the sick? What was Chus? Where did Chus come from? Was magic omnipotent? Was it omnipresent? Should he have asked Mars for money? Would anybody want him anymore? Why was money even created? Was his way of thinking wrong? Where did bunnies come from? What was the reason his mother’s illness did not spread to him? Was there a person behind the scene who made his mother fall ill? Was his mother in a better place now? He hoped she was.

Christopher was once again following Mars. Who knew what this strange man would do tonight? What if he was a serial killer? Christopher’s father had discarded this opinion because of the low number of deaths during the ten years Mars lived in the village, but he still believed in it.
As always Mars took the same path to the forest, walking past the church and Christopher family’s house. When Mars arrived at the harbour of the woods something strange happened.
A group of thug-like people came out of the forest and surrounded Mars.
The man who looked like the leader spoke first: “Mars Michael Augustus?”
Mars calmly replied: “Yes, that would be me.”
Their leader spoke again: “Under the Dynasty’s wanted warrant we have the right to kill you, since we do not want any bloodshed tonight, we are proposing you to obediently follow us and we’ll make sure you aren’t executed. We know you were gravely injured from...”
Before he could finish, Mars sent a knife in his throat, making him fall to the ground. Christopher started to run back toward his house; he had to tell everyone about Mars crimes.
A woman said: “This is your last chance, you already killed one of us yet we are still reaching out to help you.”
Mars told her: “Well, I don’t think you have the capabilities to kill me, so why should I follow you?”
With that said the fight truly started. Mars used a defensive spell moments before being hit by a burst of Chus attacks.
-The Cape of the Bloody Conqueror, War Path
-Fleshy Sharp Chain; Fusion Path
-Invisible Blade of Wind
-Tree overgrowth
-Rain of alloy, Metal Path
The plump chain wrapped itself around Mars’s arm and a gust of wind tried to cut Mars throat. The warlord moved his head just enough for the gale to pass a centimeter of his neck.
Mars pulled his arm with enough strength to forcefully make the holder of the chain fall. The chain had fused with his hand due to his Fusion Path spell, so when Mars started to drag back the chain the man was taken along.
As Mars dragged the mercenary towards him a bunch of trees started to sprout out of the ground at abnormal speed. The warlord summoned a Chus infused axe and started to vertically cut down the nearest vegetate.

After having flattened the tree, Michael took the youth still attached to the chain and threw him on one of the trees another mercenary had summoned.
Metallic shards started raining down from the sky; the conqueror armour was able to absorb all the damage in his place.
Mars was preparing another spell to kill the Metal Path user, but before being able to complete it he got hit by a Chus infused arrow.
There was an archer hidden in the woods, keeping its distance, not leaving the comfort of his hiding place.
Sending Chus in his eyes to locate the hidden foe; Mars realized Christopher wasn’t there anymore. He had to quickly wrap things up over here to go deal with a bigger problem.
Mars used up more than half of his Chus to instantly summon his domain. He couldn’t care less about his protective cape breaking under the continuous barrage of attack.
-Mars Original: Information Sword, War Path and Information Path
The translucent blade quickly appeared in his hands, Mars made sure every single one of his opponents had seen it before cutting the head of the mercenary he had previously thrown on the tree.
The data of the attack was quickly transmitted to the other mercenaries that were still alive, replicating the attack on each of them. Only the Metal Path user who had previously spoken to Mars had been able to survive by partially transforming her neck into iron.
Time was running out for Mars, he had to take care of this troublesome woman before the kid had time to spread information about him.
-Mars Original: Warriors of Michael, War Path
Armors started appearing around the battle lord, Mars swiftly left the scene. And as Mars was going back to Pavv, a heart wrenching scream of despair rang throughout the forest. Reminding the beast lords still alive of the pact of non-aggression they were forced to agree with.
Christopher had woken up all of his family; he was trying to tell them what he saw but his speech was so confused they couldn’t understand a word of it.
While the boy was trying to explain Mars’s crime he had witnessed, the warlock passed through the doorway.
Mars threw a Chus infused spear across the room, nailing both Christopher and Heather to the wall.
As his children were dying the father had his throat quickly sliced, while the mother was in shock Mars punched her in the face before piercing her brain through her left eye using a dagger.
Mars had just dodged a catastrophe.
The morning after their household was found burned to the ground; the citizens of Pavv were only able to scavenge charcoal-like remains of the family members.
However there was one person who got suspicious; Father Alger decided to call his diocese for backup.
