Volume 1 Chapter 12 Side Story: A faithful Pope in Mission
Old man Orius was enjoying life; he was currently fighting a very difficult battle. And it seemed like he was about to lose.
He did not know if his enemy was bluffing against him, what if his enemy cards were better than his?
He had to win this fight, this wasn’t a situation where he could lose; his lord had specifically given him this task.
However he was pretty sure he had the upper-hand, so he went all in. His hand was a Flush.
The look on the face of his adversary melted away. It was a Flush against a Straight. The old Orel had won against this youngling.
As his enemy had used the Angel’s Contract to bet against the old man, the treasure was now his Lord’s property.
The young woman was however unwilling to part with this precious artefact. She threw a Lightning Path spell towards the old Pope.
-Electric Whip, Lightning Path
The Pope was not surprised; the younger generations were becoming more and more greedy, a good thing that wasn’t the case back in Enyrus.
Orius Orel II simply dodged the attack by ducking; he took his Bible of the Eclipse, and started lecturing the heretic.
First Verse of the Commands: “Thou shall not steal what belongs to the Lord or to the Lord’s Faces.”
Second Verse of the Commands: “Thou shall not bargain against God’s will.”
Third Verse of the Commands: “Thou shall pray for redemption to the Lord.”
The woman was starting to get away; she had already reached the door of the Casino.
She saw her comrades not far in a corridor; they were urging her to come to them. It was strange the direction they were in was a detour to the exit but she didn’t ask further questions as she trusted them.
She quickly looked back; the strange old man was still not starting pursuit. In a blink of an eye he was no longer on the second floor, he had mysteriously vanished.

She thought that it didn’t matter, she had her fun playing Poker against him and she still had the Angel’s Contract.
However her flight would not end there since before she could react, her best friend had taken out his sword and started trying to end her.
The Casino’s security arrived at the same time and started sending spells after spells at her from their truncheons.
She could understand why the Casino wouldn’t like her; she had indeed shot a spell inside the building after losing a bet. But why was her best friend trying to kill her?
Waves and waves of restrictive spells were coming at her. She had specialized herself in movement magic which was handy in her situation.
-Restrictive Circle, Rule Path.

She swiftly threw her friend in one of the projectiles coming at her; she didn’t want to hurt him, they had grown up together so this was the best way to immobilize him without hurting him.
She used a spell to not be in the line of fire of the guards the next time they would shoot.
-Electric Eel Snake-like movements, Lightning Path.
She was able to take a turn the moment the next volley of restrictive attacks was launched.
She arrived in front of Orius still reciting the Bible of the Eclipse; he was now wearing his black pope attire.
The Lord Verse 1: “The Lord did not create Emiprusixen; he was merely its rightful owner. Thus thou shall pray to his greatness. There is no such thing as paradise; today is the only time you will be able to pray to his mightiness.”
The old pope stared at the young woman before saying: “This was the part you needed to hear the most, young one.”
The woman was frozen in place; she couldn’t understand how this old man was able to move in this corridor, it had no way to the previous location he was in. It was as if the man had teleported there.

The woman asked with horror: “How were you able to get a Space Path artefact?”
The old one chuckled and said: “Praying my Lord gives a lot of benefit, way more that the Goddess could even imagine.”
Before the woman was able to speak further the guards had reached her position, they quickly sent their restrictive spells at her.
This time she wasn’t able to dodge. She was hit by two of them making her limbs go numb.
Falling on the ground she couldn’t see the Pope anymore. The guards started beating her up as she was powerless to do anything.
The hits were merciless, hitting everywhere; they took her protective cloak off as compensation for the damage she had caused to the building.
And with that she was thrown in the back alley. Weakened, she was not able to get up.
She saw a group of thugs approaching her, fear filled her eyes. She had previously seen what these kinds of people would do to young women but she didn’t think much about it since she didn’t think today’s situation would happen to her.
She wanted to do something but her weakened body was not able to do anything, her Chus reserves were no more, she had used everything in the chase not long before.
Her fears were justified; the criminals took her to an abandoned basement. She was only able to take a breather after they left satisfied.
Tears were rolling down her blue cheeks.
Her wounds were incapacitating her. She was tired; she was traumatised by the nightmare that had just taken place. She thought how all of that could have been avoided if she had given the Angel’s Contract to the old man.
She heard a group of people walking towards her direction; she thought the thugs had come to end her life.
She had now absorbed enough Chus to defend herself; she prepared a magic attack.
But the one who entered was Orius, he slowly entered the shed. Shot her spell.
-Lightning spear, Lightning Path.
A coat of Darkness manifested itself around the old pope, taking the hit in his place.
He let his aura leak out.
The woman was startled; she had a sad laugh and said: “Legend-level... It really exists… What do you even have against me? How much time did you waste? For what reason, because I did not give you the Angel’s Contract?”
The young one was now crying: “I was raped because of a powerless and useless relic?”
The religious zealot responded: “My child, you are mistaken, I did not make these thugs rape you. The world is against my God, it does not want my Lord to succeed, as such me his humble servant can’t make little bandits do my bidding.”
He continued: “Now young one, do you repent your sins against the Lord and change your beliefs, you will enter our grand family?”
She responded with a cackle of sadness: “I’ve already lost my will to live... Go die in hell old man; you already have one step in it.”
Orius shook his head with disappointment: “How unfortunate.”
The old man took out his gun and started blasting the sinner who did not repent.

After emptying his magazine, the Pope of the Eclipse took the Angel’s Contract from the torned clothes of the woman.
Looking at the book he said: “You have a big part to do in my Lord’s plan, don’t disappoint us.”
As he walked out, the woman’s friend looked at the old Pope reverently. Their new life had begun.
A life in service of the only true god was their greatest honour.
They prayed to their new god.

A Mildly Odd Reality Breaker
Omar receives an unexpected visitor who comes baring a gift—a "registration ticket"—in the form of a small metal card. The ticket is itself an offer to participate in the game, "Reality Break." Accepting this offer means that Omar will be able to perceive the true nature of reality where there is not one, but two dimensions of time, and in this second dimension history changes (and somewhat "frequently"). Along with this, he will also gain access to the "chronopause"; another reality that is not so much parallel to our own as it is perpendicular, which acts as both a place and the natural boundary between non-sequential points on the timeline. Using the chronopause, Omar will become a chrononaut with the ability to travel through time, and as a player, he will be given a cybernetic interface and his own portable extradimensional storage space. It's a strange conversation, but due to Omar's dismally short attention span, he only consciously hears that last bit about the portable pocket space, and that's only after the physics-defying void is opened in his living room and literally waved in front of his face. Reality is certainly stranger than most people realize, but then again, so is Omar. Thankfully, he responds well to shiny things, and for better or for worse, his chronic inattentiveness is the least of his psychological issues. Omar also has a mild form of "Oppositional Defiant Disorder" which presents itself as an occasional, arbitrary need to disobey others (especially authority figures). However, his oddest psychological issue by far is his "abnormally hyperactive" subconscious mind. Outwardly and consciously, Omar is a lazy, apathetic man-child prone to mildly asinine behavior. Subconsciously, he's some sort of genius capable of extraordinary feats of cognition. Most of the time, Omar is a (technically) functioning adult, but in order to live as such, he must rely entirely upon unusual abilities he's completely unaware of, despite the fact that he uses them regularly. Up until now, his life had merely been ridiculous, but now it was also a game. Note: The narrative style is that of a reliable narrator with a "3rd-person sarcastic" POV. This story takes place in the Reality Breakers/Chronopause universe.

I am more than happy to take advantage of free editing, so please, editorialize away; I'll take it all on board.
