《The Thing (Because its basically only the draft)》Chapter 4 - The Adventure Guild

“.. thanks” (Anoki)
I bowed, actually I didn’t wanted to bow that much, but because I had crooked way of walking, I bowed deeper than intended.
“Boy, you don’t have to be so formal! I’ll help anytime, you know where you find me.” (Guard)
He gave a pat on my back and left while still laughing cheerfully and loudly.
What a strong person.. ouch my back still hurts.
I looked at my surroundings.
The guild really looked like, how I expected it to be. Like if someone just took a description of the typical [Adventure Guild] from the isekai novels or MMOs and put it in here.
It’s a mix of bar and counter. At the bar corner are actually some rowdy looking men which were sleeping while holding their glass of beer, the adventurers. There is also a blackboard with many papers hanging on it, I assume the quests. Next to it is the..
I immediately looked down after I saw the receptionists counter corner.
Why the heck are all of them beautiful females? Don’t get me wrong. Usually the protagonists say something like how bad they were with dealing with girls but I, as I already stated earlier, was something like an honor student so there is now way I wouldn’t be able to talk to girls..
But yeah if I think about it, the most girls in my class were “average” in looks and I usually avoided to look at them directly because it kinda depressed me. Usually it’s impolite to not make eye-contact but for me it’s something like I imagine what they see when I look at them. And then I think how they see me..
When I think about it, I never really started a conversation with a girl, mostly they talked to me if they needed help or I inserted myself in if they talked about something interesting. And that only with the girls of my class.

I ignored the other classes and people for the most part, same for girls and strangers. It doesn't really bothered me if a stranger was extraordinarily beautiful or something, I gave up the hope that I met my dream girl on the bus a long while ago, I accepted the fact that she doesn't exists.
Well, my sad past aside, I raised my head again and looked at counter again.
The females looked at me and when I made eye-contact they also smiled, but I was pretty sure that was trained smile, because I couldn’t read anything behind it and certainly the weren’t smiling because a handsome dude was looking at them.
I think I’m below average, but I don’t have the right to judge at this point, I think beauty is judged by the viewer or something.
Which would mean, those women at the counter were astounding from my opinion at least. After looking at each of them, I noticed the old man at the right and approached him.
He was polishing a metal glove, no it was larger the a glove. It would also cover the half of the cubit. Is this what you would call Gauntlet? Basically the hands of the fully armored knights.
“uhm.. Excuse me?” (Anoki)
“Yes?” (old man)
“.. could I become an adventurer?” (Anoki)
“Certainly, but you would have to pay a fee and give me some personal information about yourself.” (old man)
My backstory which I came up with was nothing really special, I just took a similar one like in those novels, though I even think it's kinda shallow but the old man didn’t pry any further.
I told him that I never did something bad, which was true and apparently also clearly visible to him.
“Boy, you look so insecure, that I even fear some low-level monster would easily tear you into shreds.”

Apparently the most boys in my age would look like what we in our world consider as bodybuilders, I guess with more muscles. Also it seems my way of walking, I mean it was crooked, looked strange. Usually adventurer would show a more confident aura and strength.
Can’t help it, was someone who avoided problems by ignoring and avoiding them. I never ended as a bully victim because there was no reason for that, even if I may looked weak, I was still smart and somewhat protected by my classmates, with which I had a more or less good relationship. Also, when I talk about classmates.
I mean the whole class, I guess I’m not the usual protagonist after all.
But even I had experience with that stuff… as I was remembering bad memories, I shook my head. Now I’m here, so I should focus on this.
“So now you only have to pay the fee.” (old man)
I was prepared for the adventurer registration, there were many novels which show that part in the story. The revenge-heroes, which start from scratch again and prepare their revenge, the carefree ones with no-clue but the op cheat power which gives them a high reputation after that event and also the ones which started with nothing like me and worked themselves to become the hero, well they got their cheats later anyway.
Usually there is the personal information part but the fee was also in those stories come to think of it. Yeah, they got the money from some event which happened earlier or got it as a “starter-kit” from the goddess. And I guess the revenge-heroes just kill some bad guys in a brutal way and take their money.
But I went straight to the guild after coming here, without having cheats, weapons or money. The thing in this different world which got was a shallow backstory which I’v just have made up. I skipped the other events, because they are events which would occur if you know those already and predict when and where they appear or are clueless and the story make it happen.
My cheats, as far I get it, are the fact that I don’t have a language barrier and am able to talk to the people here and that I have a certain degree of knowledge about these world.
This exact “knowledge” lead me in this situation.
“uhm.. it seems I have no money..” (Anoki)

The Woman In The Palace
Highest rank #1 in Historical He glared at me with irritation. "Come inside!" ...And I did. He pointed to the stack of books on the floor. "Pick them up and arrange them the way they're supposed to."With trembling hands, I did what he asked quickly. Fret in the way I moved, picking up the books into my arms and lap one by one only for them to fall back on the floor over and over. I was a mess, upset, and it was obvious. This wasn't the kind of first meeting I dreamed of.The second prince was mean, and he was irritable. He had no clue who I am which made me resent it even more.He scowled as he watched me made mistakes after mistakes and after a while, he grew frustrated and bent over, picking the books himself."Forgive me, I didn't mean to snarl at you the way I did. I'm not used to being distracted. No one ever walks in my office unless they have my permission. I don't even know how the guardsmen let you in." I wanted to say because unlike you, they recognized who I am. But I kept my mouth shut in fear of aggravating his anger. His voice took a lot gentler tone, I imagined he must've realized how upset I was and felt bad about it.I said nothing. When we're done, I rose up to my feet, couldn't wait to get out of this room. This man was so impolite to me that I couldn't wait to get away from him."I apologize, your highness. I didn't mean to distract you in your private office." I stepped back getting ready to leave when a sliver of sunlight struck highlighting my face. "Wait!" He murmured and I turned back to look at him."You're beautiful." He said breathlessly.I would have blushed, but he was so mean and rude to me that his compliment lost its impact long ago."I need to go," I told him."Wait." A wave of panic rose in the tide of his voice. The prince was afraid to lose me. "What's your name, girl?" He asked quickly. "Jasmine, my name is Jasmine, your highness.""My Jasmine?" He murmured hopeful.
