《Dreamworld: The First Age》Chapter 1: Beginning of the First Age

"The cycle has repeated once again... The empire's relentless onslaught has killed so many of my friends that I've lost count. Has the father created life only to watch us suffer? Or is there something more to this madness? I don't know, but, what I do know is that I must fight for my people, and my family they're all that I have in this accursed world of evil. No matter what happens to me know that I do all this because I love you all so much, and will suffer for you if that means we get to see the next sunrise." - Katie Lightsoul
Heaven. A beautiful realm of angels and dragons that sat high above the universe. In that realm stood a military base next to the city of heaven, and in that base was a building that stretched higher than the rest. Inside the structure, a woman dawning golden armor circled around a round table with a six-winged angel who was wearing a golden suit. She places her hands on the table observing the map.
"So we're going to dimension six, sir?" she inquired.
"Yes Katie, that is correct. You will be placed on a planet full of jungle growth," he explained.
Katie sat up and placed her hands behind her back. She watches her superior grab the map and roll it up.
"Give this to Chief," he ordered.
She takes the map from him and salutes. "It will be done, Seraphim Guidance."
"Oh, one more thing," he added. "Don't die out there, alright? I would hate to be the bearer of bad news to your family."
Katie gave him a soft smile and nodded her head. She turns to open the door, being greeted with a bright golden light shining from the sky above. She jumped off the ground, ascending high into the sky, and spreads her white-feathered wings. After a few minutes, she arrives at the gates of heaven and is approached by another angel wearing golden plate from head to toe. His face was hidden beneath his helmet, giving him the appearance of a walking suit of armor.

"Welcome to the group, Katie," the man said.
She holds out the map. "Here, Chief. Guidance told me to give this to you."
Chief grabs the map and opens it. "Hmm...jungle planet eh? The empire will corrupt anything they can get their hands on."
"Or tendrils," someone yelled from behind.
Chief turns around and shakes his head. "Now is not the time to joke around, Leron!"
"Sorry, sorry, I couldn't resist!" he laughed.
A female angel wearing silver armor approaches Katie. "Such golden radiance. A perfect fit for an archangel such as yourself."
Katie raises her eyebrow. "What?"
"Sorry. I just like the way your armor looks," she bows. "I'm Seleiana. The newest addition to the team."
Katie stares at her for a moment and thinks to herself, what a strange angel. She nods her head with a smile. "Welcome to the crew."
Seleiana smiled back at her and nods her head. Chief walks towards both of them and puts his arm around Seleiana.
"You're a great addition to the team Seleiana. Just listen to my orders, and you'll be alright."
Katie turns her head towards Leron watching him sit on the ground. He looks back at her, making eye contact.
He stands up and stretches before walking towards her. "What's up, Katie?"
She crosses her arms and turns her head towards Chief and Seleiana who are looking at the map. She turns back to face Leron. "The last mission," she said quietly. "I hope we don't have a repeat of it."
Leron places his hand on her shoulder. "I hope not either, especially with the recent addition to the team," he turns his head towards Seleiana. "I wouldn't want to see her get ripped apart"

Katie looks back at Seleiana and stares at her for a moment. Another angel descends from the sky, landing next to Chief.
"Are you sure you don't want to wear a helmet down there?" Leron asked. "With hair that long, the enemy could grab and pull on it."
" It depends on if we're going to try and ambush them. I'm aware that any angel could give away their position because of the golden brilliance of our hair."
"Suicidal, and sounding full of yourself," He laughed.
She let out a small chuckle and smiled. "Hey! I'm just copying what the other angels say!" she places her hands on her hips. "And don't even start with the suicidal crap. I've heard Chief talk about that enough."
"Fall in!" Chief yelled out. Katie and Leron jog towards him, while Seleiana and the other angel stand next to him. "Our mission is to go down onto the planet and wipe the bastards out!" he places his hands behind his back and paces in front of all of them.
"We will use these beacons to summon our brothers and sisters for an ambush!" Chief holds his hands into the air, causing light to swirl between his palms. The light takes the shape of a golden crystal with a cross embedded into it.
"This is a beacon, it quickly pulls down responding angels to it, so they don't have to fly down. If they all saw us coming at once, they would quickly form a counterattack! So that's why we will use this to gain the upper hand!"
Chief walks towards the other angel and hands it towards him. "John! I leave this task to you."
John takes it and nods. "I won't let us down, sir!"
Chief points down at the clouds beneath them, opening the floor. All of them fall down the opening and fly out of heaven into the universe.

Book 1 is now available on Kindle, or in paperback/hardcover! You can buy it here! The bad news is they just left one of their own as a sacrifice to appease the beast. No matter what Jack and his AI co-pilot decide, his life just got a lot more complicated... ATTENTION: This is soft sci-fi rather than hard sci-fi, hence why I chose that tag. For those of you unfamiliar with the distinction, here's what Wikipedia had to say. 1. It explores the "soft" sciences, and especially the social sciences (for example, anthropology, sociology, or psychology), rather than engineering or the "hard" sciences (for example, physics, astronomy, or chemistry). 2. It is not scientifically accurate or plausible; the opposite of hard science fiction. Soft science fiction of either type is often more concerned with character and speculative societies, rather than speculative science or engineering. The term first appeared in the late 1970s and is attributed to Australian literary scholar Peter Nicholls.
