Roman was rolling his way back home on his stakeboard. He tried to jump over the sidewalk, but failed miserably as always. He sighed and looked around, making sure nobody saw him. Luckily, only a cat was sitting in front of the door, staring at him ''You don't have to judge me with your cat eyes, I'm sure you can't do that trick either!''

''Meow!''

''Yeah, that's what I thought!'' Roman gave the cat a small pat on the head. He thought this cat was a stray, it looked all matted and had scars on his entire body and was always hanging out around the door of his apartment building. He had been thinking about taking it in, but he was allergic to cat so... But the look this little fluff ball was giving him everytime Roman was passing by... It was heart breaking. He unlocked the door and gave the cat one last look. Bad mistake, Roman let out a big pissed off scream ''Okay! You win, come in!'' and just like that, like the cat was waiting for this moment, it ran in after Roman with a thankful purr. Roman shook his head and closed the door behind him and unlocked his apartment door.

The cat jumped on the table and sat real straight, staring at Roman ''So.... You want tuna or something?''

''PPrrrr!''

''Or I have left over sushi from my lunch break''

''MEOW!''

''Well sushi it is, I guess!''

Roman grabbed the sushies and another left over from his yesterday's dinner. They both ate together and Roman managed to not let the cat in his bedroom, his allergies wouldn't agree with a fluff ball in his bed with him. They both spent the next few days together, Roman bringing some food and all the cat stuffs that cats need. But one morning, as Roman was getting ready to go to work, the cat ran between his legs and ran away. To say that Roman wasn't feeling sad and betrayed would be a lie. Roman gave him so much love and care and the cat only gave him fleas and broke a few things that he left too close to the edge of the shelves... And now it was gone...

The end.

If only it was that simple, Roman thought. If only... But noooo, that cat had to come back the next day with a small bag in it's teeth. Roman took it and the cat followed him in his apartment. Roman looked in the bag and he found... A rubik's cube? A weird looking one, but still a rubik's cube. He stared back at the cat ''Really? you ran away to get me a toy?''

''PPrrrmow!''

He sighed, why was he talking to a cat, exactly? He sat on his couch and turned the small squares around, but after a few minutes, he was already fed up of it. He tossed it beside him and the cat just kept pushing it back on his leg ''FINE! I will find a way to solve it!'' Roman made a call to Logan, one of his childhood friend ''Hey, nerd, I have something for you!''

''What is it this time?''

''You will like it this time, I swear.'' Roman pranked Logan once, only once, and now he was always so suspicious about everything. He explained that a cat brought him a weird looking rubik's cube and that the cat really wanted him to solve it, but he didn't know how. There was a long silence on the other side of the line and then ''So... A cat wants you tos olve.... a rubik's cube?''

''A weird looking one!''

''That's not what I'm more concerned about, Roman.''

''Plleeeeaaasseeee, Logie! I know you like puzzle!''

Logan sighed and agreed to meet him after dinner to take a look at it. Logan was in fact really intrigued about the weird looking cube and he didn't have anything else to do this evening, so it wouldn't hurt to pay Roman a visit.

It only took Logan fifteen seconds to get to Roman's apartment since they live in the same building ''I really don't understand why you let that stray cat in, you are allergic to cat!'' Logan told him the moment he stepped inside. Roman didn't bother to answer and only handed him the rubik's cube. It was a 5x5 cube, with a star in the middle of each side. Logan stared at it for a few minutes, turning the cube in his hands and flipping the small colored pieces around to test how they moved around. He got the hang of it really quickly, Logan was really used of playing with those puzzles and he did solve one that looked like this one in the past. Roman was looking at him twist and turn the puzzle. It was such a mesmerizing thing to watch, along with the sound it made. It was one of the weird thing that helped Roman calm down after a stressfull day. After a while, Logan said ''Almost.... done!'' Roman and Logan jumped in shock when they saw the cube slowly starting to glow from the inside. They both looked at each other and a big burst of wind made Logan drop the cube and hit their back on the couch. They felt ropes wrap around their chest and arms and a voice in front of them thundered ''Who do you think you are to trap me like that?''

''What?''The two friends asked at the same time.

''MEOW!''

''Remus?'' The stranger asked. The cat, or Remus, then proceed to meow loudly in what looked like an annoyed way. The stranger listened carefully, slowly releasing Roman and Logan from his grip. Once Remus was done with his meowing, the stranger faced Logan ''Remus says that you broke me free froms this... cursed prison. How did you manage to do so? I never met someone that was able to solve those unbreakable locks!''

''It's not that hard to solve but...'' ''Who are you?'' ''You can talk to cats?'' ''What is happening!?'' Both Logan and Roman asked all at the same time.

Janus raised an eyebrow and explained that he was the Great dragon witch Janus, and that of course he could speak with Remus, Catling is not that hard to learn after all. And for what is happening... Janus tried to stop some bad people from doing some bad guys stuffs. He successfully stopped their evil plan, but he ended up getting trapped in this colorful prison. The actual explanation of Janus was much more complicated and weird to listen to, but that is pretty much what and Logan and Roman understood.

Logan pinched the bridge of his nose ''How can a rubik's cube be an unbreakable prison? Like I said, it's not that hard to solve.''

''You must know a lot about advanced Concealment Sorcery then.''

''...No! It's just that I like puzzles.... What are you talking about?''

''Prrroow,meoow!!'' Remus shouted. Janus seemed to agree and translated what he said to those who couldn't speak Catling. Remus thought Roman and Logan would be an invaluable help in their quest agaisn't the Great Evil of the Universe.

''We're in!'' Roman said while jumping on his feet and putting his hand over his heart in an overly dramatical way.

''No we are not!'' Logan protested ''We have jobs to do, people that care about us here. We can't just leave like that... We don't even know the guy. Roman don't be ridiculous!"

''But Logaaaaaannn!!!''

Janus raised both hands in front of him to catch their attention ''If I can show you what they did to my World, will you believe me? Because I'm pretty sure your World is the next one on their list...''

Roman gave Logan this puppy eyes look he always gave him when he wanted something really badly ''Please! Logan, we have to help him.''

''Even if what he says was true, we are only human, what can we do to help?''

''More than you can think.'' Janus answered. Logan couldn't help but notice how desperate the stranger looked. And he also seemed sincere... And he did pop out of this weird looking rubik's cube. Logan will have to open his mind and see if what Janus told them was true. Logan sighed loudly and shook his head ''Fine... What should we bring with us?'' Roman smiled widely and jump around while screaming ''We are going on an adventure! We are going on an adventure!''

Logan looked at both Janus and Remus ''Are you both really sure that he can be helpful?'' he said while pointing at Roman. Janus only shrugged and Logan could swear he saw the cat do same too. Logan got back to his apartment with the small list of things Janus told him he should bring. There was really obvious things like water and food and clothes. But also really unusual stuffs like silverwares, bobby pins, shaving cream, red pens... Logan only shook his head and gather what he could and rushed back into Roman's place before he changed his mind. Roman was already packed and ready. The two friends took a deep breath and waited for Janus to lead the way. Remus falling from the table silently and following after them.
