《-The World Saga-》Chapter 34: Getting Away

I sit up screaming as I clench my arms. James jumps awake looking out of it.
“What’s wrong?” I slowly calm down grabbing my head. Whose Lupa? James makes me look at him. “What’s wrong?”
“... Just another weird dream.. Sorry..” I quickly leave the area before he has a chance to speak. These dreams keep getting worse and worse. I stare at the ground trying to still calm down. I accidently bump into Hugo. I look up at him, “I’m sorry Hugo..” He stares down at me for a second. He slowly bends down to one knee patting me on the head. He stands back up going over to Lomie. I never realized how big Hugo was until he was this close to me.. James comes over to me after a little bit looking annoyed. Cameron appears out of his tent motioning us over to him.
“Alright. James what can you do?” James huffs slightly.
“I need my needle back.” Cameron pulls out James’s needle. He comes over and hands it to him. James thinks for a second, “What do you want to see?” Cameron thinks for a second and smiles.
“Surprise me.” James stabs his hand without breaking eye contact with Cameron. I frown as he drops a few drops of blood on his finger tracing a symbol on his hand. Cameron pauses looking surprised as James vanishes. Lomie chuckles to himself trying to look for him.
“Didn’t know you could teleport also.” Cameron shoots Lomie a look.
“No he didn’t teleport. He turned invisible. Incredible. What else can you do?” James reappears in front of Cameron.
“A few things. Does it matter?” Cameron whistles which brings Elizabeth around looking annoyed.
“Okay. Go ahead and show me what you got.” I frown slightly.
“I.. really. don’t...” He pauses looking me up and down. He looks to James seeing if I am telling the truth. James nods sending Cameron into a annoyed mood. “Don’t worry. I bet we can find something for you to do. Alright everyone let's start to work on some new acts. We can’t always do the same thing from town to town. Elizabeth please lead them to the outfits.” Elizabeth leads me and James to one of the carts. This cart is colorful with a punch of outfits and props in it. She starts to search through it for costumes. I wait looking at James disappointed. He sighs as she hands him something flambyonet. He looks at it for a minute.
“You can’t expect me to wear this?” She stares at him for a moment causing him to frown. He frowns walking away comminiting on how this was also a bad idea. She looks me up and down for a few minutes. She pulls out a simple white dress. It has white laces going throughout it. She nods handing it to me as I take it.
“Um.. Thank you Elizabeth.” She nods walking over to where Lumie and Hugo are training. I pack my dress in my bag and go to James who is thinking.
“Hmm.. What do you think Ash? Should I do something new or something old?” I frown slapping him on the arm.
“You know what happens every time you use something new.” He sighs patting my head.
“You can’t always live like that Ash.” He smirks walking over Lumie. I frown sitting on the cart. I notice Elizabeth staring at James as he and Lumie start talking to each other. Cameron walks over to me and sits next to me handing me a cup. I look to see it’s tea and slowly sip on it.

“I was thinking you could help James with his act. You would be his lovely assistant and he would do a disappearing act.” I put on a fake smile agreeing with him. He frowns for a second. “What do you have in mind?” I shrug.
“I don’t know. I mean I… just feel useless.” He smirks slightly.
“Well I can tell you aren’t useless at all.” He gets going over to the group as I watch them. They run through the acts a few times. At first I can tell James was annoyed at the fact he was doing this but now he was having fun. All he needed to do was to switch me and his position was he has done a many of times. After training, we help pack up everything and we head out on the road. We spend the next few days traveling to the next town.
We get to a town that is about a few days from Chord. The town is bigger than the last town we were at. I would guess it was double in size. We pull up in the middle of town allowing everyone to get a full view of everything. We start to set up the acts as a crowd of people start to gather to watch the acts. Cameron goes out and starts to do his thing woo the crowd. A few men in the crowd start to make fun at how short he is. It doesn’t phase him as Elizabeth goes to do her act. They start to catcall her causing her to pause for a moment. She looks over to Cameron to which he nods. She throws a knife toward them men causing them deck out of the way. The knife sticks into a wooden pole causing the man who started everything to slip in the mud. A few people start to laugh at him. He gets up looking extremely pissed and leaves with the group. Hugo and Lumie go and do their act. After they finish, It’s our turn. James looks down at his costume looking ridiculous. He pokes his hand and traces the symbol on my inner hand.
“You ready?” I nod looking nervous. He laughs slightly.
“Don’t be. Everything will be fine.” Cameron starts to get the crowd excited again.
“Now.. Introducing our newest act. I am proud to present.. Jay the Incredible” He pauses at the name as I slightly snort. He gives me a look as he walks into the area. “He is a mystic of the mysterious arts. One day, he can turn into a dog. The next, he can make rain appear anywhere. Now.. he will turn himself into a woman!” A shock gasp goes out through the crowd as I can see James hold back some anger. He stands and starts to waves his arms around as he chants some weird words. Within a split second, red smoke appears as we search places. As the smoke moves away, the crowd looks shocked and cheer for me. I put a smile on show off slightly as I head back to the original position. A hear comments on how amazing and great I look. Some pride begins to swell up in me even though they think I am James. “See how amazing this man is? Is there anything he can’t do?” I feel something hit my head causing my vision to blur. I reach up touching my head and when I pull my hand away I notice blood. I look over to see the men from before have come back with more friends. I feel James pull be back as I am placed on the cart. James looks at me worried as he tries to clean the wound with a rag.

“..I’m fine James.” He frowns as I see the rag with blood on it. He tries to control his anger as he wraps my head with a bandage.
“This was a stupid idea and you got hurt.” My headache starts to go away as I close my eyes concentrating on my breathing.
“It doesn’t even hurt anymore James. I am fine.” I look at him as he cross his arms across his chest.
“You aren’t doing that again. Understand?” I huff standing up feeling surprising better. “I am fine. See? I don’t feel hurt anymore.” He glares at me for a second and walks away. I go out to Cameron who is packing things up. He looks at me a little surprised.
“Already better?” I nod as I see Hugo throwing one of the gang members through a post. Elizabeth swiftly and cleaning cuts them through the men. Nothing fatal but enough to cause great discomfort. By the time Cameron is done packing the gang members are all take care off. “Alright guys we need to go.” Lumie is already driving one of the carts as I climb next to James. James is slightly out of it and leans against me sleeping. I frown shaking my head. Idiot. He must have pushed himself when he was practicing this morning. We quickly make leave from the town hoping nothing comes from our little incident. We park a few miles away from the town. James finally wakes up as he sits up. We start to set up camp as Carmon approaches me. He hands me a small pouch of money. I take it.
“Thank you.” He smiles happy but stops for a second.
“Um.. I was thinking maybe you should stay out of the act. Just incase something would to happen.” I frown for a second. I actually started to look forward to doing acts but I nod agreeing.
“That’s fine. We are close to our hometown so we will be leaving the group.” He frowns slightly.
“Well.. If you ever need anything, we will gladly help.” I nod and the rest of the night we spend relaxing. I notice James not around the campfire. I go to find him and he is asleep in our bed. I roll my eyes checking on his right hand. It looks normal and I sigh at him. I get in next to him and go to sleep. Luckily my dreams have normal these last couple days. So, I get an uneventful night of sleep.
In the morning, I wake up to see James getting out of bed. I yawn sitting up. I get up follow him. The usual warm weather of the Green Belt has an uncomfortable cold feel to it. Cameron looks on edge as Elizabeth stands on guard. Hugo seems on guard as Lumie relaxes next to the fire. James goes to Cameron as I follow him. “What’s going on?” Cameron looks at him as I notice the silence coming from the forest. Usually there is always something causing noise, but this is nothing.
“.. There has been a monster sighting nearby. Pretty serious.” A howl can be heard in the distance that Hugo stares in.
“What is it?” Lumie laughs slightly as he eats some meat.
“Apparently a demon dog.” Hugo looks down at Lumie as Lumie holds his hands up. I look confused as James looks the same.
“Demon dog?” Cameron motions Elizabeth to start packing as she does.
“A demon dog is apparently a man who has walk thru the Northern Mountains and ate the heart of a werewolf. They are deadly and crazy. Only killing is on their mind.” A howl that sounds closer as Cameron becomes worried. He calls over Elizabeth as a man appears in the distances. Two black dogs travel with him. He is wearing animal pelts with most of his body covered by them. The dogs start to bark at us as the cold feeling gets worse. James steps in front of me as Hugo cracks his knuckles. Elizabeth hops onto a cart with knifes in her hands. Lumie looks ready to grab Cameron at a moment's notice. The man keeps walking closer to us and stops about twenty feet away. He sniffs the air snarling at us.
“She’s here.” His voice sounds dark and rough the dogs bark at us as Cameron puts on his face.
“Who is here sir? We are just..” He cuts him off as one of the dogs charges us. Elizabeth throws a knife into the skull of the black dog. The other dog charges us as Hugo hits it with his fist. The dog flies back tumbling into a tree. The man wait sniffing the air looking at Elizabeth. She throws a knife at him, but slaps it out of midair. He looks at me sniffing as both of the black dog's howl in usion. He begins to remove his pelts. Once the man removes the final pelt, a gruesome sight looks at us. Half of his body is scarred over looking like burns. The burnt side of his face has a bloodshot eye and the other is light blue. His gray hair looks matted and overgrown. He slowly starts to turn into a werewolf as Lumie grabs Cameron. They disappear as James frowns.
“Run Ash. I will buy you time.” I frown thinking back to Alistar but I know I wouldn’t last a moment in a fight with him. I start running as he fully turns into a werewolf. Where the scars of his body was, no fur grows. I take off sprinting as I hear a battle start to happen behind me. After a running for a second, Lumie appears in front of me.
“I am here you to get-” He gets cut off as the black dog with a knife in it charges after us. He goes to grab me but gets jump on by the other dog. He disappears with that dog. The other black dog slowly circles me as I look for a way out. I try to move but it barks at me. I stand there as it watches me. I look into its eyes noticing black pits. These things aren’t alive. A few minutes later, the man walks to me covered in blood. I begin to panic as I comes to me. I try to break into a sprint. He grabs me back the back of my shirt. He lifts me up sniffing me. He whistles for the other dog. It appears as it runs down the road.
“Hello, Lupa. Where is your pet?” That name again. I frown confused as he looks up in the distance. He growls and hits me in the neck causing me knocking me out.

Our Shattered Realms
*This is a learning experience for me so please keep in mind that I am attempting to work on some of the issues brought to my attention early on. However I haven't yet gone back to redo the early chapters.* Less than two days ago every piece of electronics in the world stopped working for more than two hours. The death toll was immense. Hospital equipment failed, cars stopped in the middle of the street, planes fell from the sky, and homework was lost at the worst possible moment. We found out that it was just the flicker and hum of The System warming up. Now we see the true cost of our new world. A Dark comedy that focuses on a few of the many people who aren't stuck in a high level dungeon when our world is translated and joined to Our Shattered Realms. This is my first story that I have published. I welcome any criticism that you have for me. Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy!

Unto Dark
A man of cripplingly ill mind, bridled with the spirits and regrets of the past. Wade Pierce trudges through each day of his monochrome existence, only as penance for his sins. Such a man is abruptly decamped of this world courtesy of unapologetic forces, left stranded in a realm filled with unknowns. Armed only with his potent yet fragile intellect, Wade advances into this new abyss, as he attempts to rewrite the wrongs he has committed. Plagued by vile beasts, self-righteous Gods, and even his own seething darkness, the cracks in his mind begin to spread and a dangerous, newfound power bubbles beneath the surface. As the world grows darker day by day, this unfortunate journey begins ------------ I suppose rectitude dictates that I should state any themes worthy of noting here. First of all, this story is not a sunshiny one in the slightest. Since it is listed under the psychological and mature tag and not the comedy tag, that shouldn't be a surprise. Next, morbidity is a factor and general apathy towards human life. All of these are common themes amongst other writers, so nothing new there. The story also contains consensual, and non-consensual sexual activity, although I have tried to be as tasteful as is possible for someone like myself. Finally, the pace is drawn-out, and the language is magniloquent at times. Not to mention, the chapters are quite lengthy. Don't expect to read this halfheartedly... Other than that, enjoy the story... There's nothing more important than that...
