I wake up in a cave. My arms are tied together with some rope. With the pounding headache, I struggle against them. I look around seeing the man sitting down staring at me. He gets up walking over to me. “Where is your pet?” I frown looking confused.
“I.. don’t know..” He picks me up by my shirt snarling at me.
“Don’t worry. She will come for you.” I frown looking completely confused and scared.
“I don’t have a pet. I don’t know..” I stop as he looks at me. He drops me to the ground extending a fingernail to cut my arm. I flinch in as he tastes my blood. He frowns spitting out.
“Your blood is different, but your scent gives you away Lupa.” I frown looking more confused. He kicks me in the gut doesn’t me to lose my breath. “Don’t you remember? Your pet burnt me beyond recognition. That stupid girl.” He growls slashing at some wall. He looks down at me snarling. He kicks me again causing me to start coughing. I begin to shake and slightly cry. He pauses looking shocked at me. He slightly starts to chuckle. “The great and powerful Lupa. The Last Herald of the Sister is nothing but a pathetic weakly.” I close my eyes trying to stop my shaking. He barks at me causing me to open my eyes. “I am going to hurt you. For everything you’ve done to me Lupa.” He grips his hand around my throat lifting me up. “I might decide to unleash another invasion.” I start to uncontrollably.
“Please.. stop..” I barely gasp out. As I grab onto him, something starts to happen. The cave slowly fades out as I start to lose conscious. I wake up to wolves howling in the distance. “What..” I look to see a snowy wood line as werewolves run past me. I look over to see a great fire rages burning werewolves left in right. I look over to the see the man that captured me burning. He howls in pain trying to put out the flames. I look in horror as the flames burn scaring the rest of his body. I close my eyes for a second and reopen them in the cave. I start breathing as I start to shake uncontrollably. I slowly stand up with the smell of smoke and sulfur surround the place. I come out to a little hill overlooking a forest. I look down slowly taking off the rope. I look around completely lost and fear stricken. I don’t know where that man went or the dog. What happened back there? Lost in my thoughts, I trip causing me to roll down the hill. I try to lift my head up but soon loss conscious.

My brothers surround me as they look down at my broken body. My first brother looks the rest of them. “Nothing has worked.” The second one.
“Father will be displeased.” The third one.
“How painful was it to not have a vessel?” The fourth one frowns looking the rest. He holds up his hand to show off a slowly healing burn.
“Painful. Why can our sister only do it?” I hear my Father’s voice from behind me.
“That is an easy question to answer my sons. We don’t have a connection to that world anymore. We use to but we chose to stay up here. She was the only one that stayed down in that world. Don’t worry my sons. I will soon have a way for all us down there.”
“.. you won’t..” Father comes over to me with a frown across his face.
“I will my daughter. It is only a matter of time.” He picks me up looking deep within me. He smiles greatly looking at my brothers. “I see that everything is going to plan. Take her back inside my sons. By the time she figures out what’s happening, it will be too late.” I limply lay on the ground as my brothers pick me up. They start to take me back to the house, but pause for a second. They drop me to the ground as they hold their heads in pain. Father slowly stumbles as I quickly try to pull off my restraints. With whatever is affecting them, I have to take my chance now. I use the last bit of my strength to break off my chains. I attempt to attach to Lupa but something else grabs ahold of me. I jump back to the world below. The last thing I hear from my family is my Father cursing someone’s name. A Forgotten One.
I blink sitting up in the mud. I frown looking around at my environment. I sniff the air for a few seconds. I look down at my hands and curse. “Who the hell is this?” I growl slightly stomping through the woods. “Another vessel? How is this possible? I felt another connection, but a vessel?” I find the nearest stream and look into it. Dark purple eyes stare back at me with dark long red hair. Red freckles dot my face. I close my eyes angry with this new body. I frown realizing the pain that I am in. I look at my arm and see it isn’t healing. I frown as a slight panic goes throughout my body. “I’m in a.. Human’s body!?!” I think for a second of hoping out, but I don’t take the risk of going back. I can’t jump back to my shrine without going back up there. “Great. I have..” I stop as I hear footsteps behind me. I quickly grab them and try to throw over me. I soon realize that this body is beyond weak. A strange man looks at me with hazel eyes.

“Ash… Thank god I found you.” He hugs me tight like a lover hugs another lover. I frown trying to push him off.
“Get the fuck off me.” He looks shocked at me as frowns looking into my eyes.
“What the hell did he do to you?” I frown glaring at him. He frowns digging into his pocket. He pulls out something and stabs his left arm. He goes to place his hand on me and I step back. I sniff him and step back further.
“Don’t think you can trick me blood mage. You won’t..” I start coughing as I feel like my lungs are collapsing. “Fuck..me..” I slowly fall to the ground as a caravan pulls up next to us.
I feel myself falling through darkness. I feel nothing and almost everything at the same time. I see the terrible people from my dreams screaming out for help. I sit up breathing heavily. My body feels on fire as I toss a blanket off me. I notice that I am in the cart that it is daylight out. I frown getting up out of the cart. I walk over to James who is talking with Cameron. He looks up at me and looks confused. Cameron looks at me and pauses. I frown slightly. “... How did you guys find me?” James comes over to me and looks me over. He looks into my eyes causing me to step back.
“She looks normal now.” I frown at the comment.
“Hmm… Maybe she does have some magic after all. You should watch that James.” I frown looking at James.
“What are you talking about?” He looks at me for a second and forces a smiles.
“Nothing. I was just worried about you.” He leaves and I look at Cameron. Cameron shrugs and goes to Elizabeth. I walk over to James who is sitting with Hugo and Lumie. Lumie has a large bandage wrapped around his neck. Hugo has a few claw marks across his body. Lumie looks at me slightly surprised.
“How did you escape that demon dog?” I frown slightly and shrug.
“I don’t know… He was just gone.” James stares into the fire for a second thinking as Hugo looks down at me.
“She needs to leave.” Lumie pauses shocked looking up at him.
“You can speak?” He nods and looks at James who looks at him.
“You need get her someplace safe. Traveling with us will only cause trouble. Now go.” James gets up and heads to the cart grabbing supplies. Hugo comes over to me and bends down to one knee. “You must stay safe young one. Powerful people will be coming for you.” I frown as James walks to me. He grabs my hand leading me away from the camp.
“James.. Wait.. we need to..” He looks at me.
“No Ash. We need to get you back home.” I frown and try to yank my hand out of his grip.
“You aren’t the boss of me James.” He stops and looks at me. He looks slightly angry as he looks down at me.
“Yes I am. We are going home.”

“Hello! My humble audience! I, the Bard of the North, am going to tell you a tale. Nothing new, nothing old. A story of a hero, some may say, others a poor boy who was hated by the world.” The storyteller paused as he waited, right timing was everything when telling a story. Pacing… Too slow and the audience became bored then left without tossing even the smallest of coins. If he spoke too fast and rushed the story. It would leave the audience confused and having no reason to be impressed. So like any good storyteller, the Bard has to do a balancing act of sorts. Not too slow, not too fast. Just perfectly in the middle. “In a shattered country in the south, a novice princeling has the ambition to mend a torn tapestry that is his birthplace. Struggling to fend off those who would usurp the throne in an unending civil war spanning centuries. A mercenary that left only death in his wake, unable to stave off the monotony and peace of life. He looks back at the path laden with bodies, wondering if it was all worth it. Wandering souls summoned by a madman, travel away from a wasteland in a foreign land, the first alone, the others as companions. A deity, ancient in her years, waiting to be freed from a duty she no longer enjoys. For all these people and their stories, none are the hero of this tale. No, the hero is not grand, not wise, not ready.. he was punished for nothing of his doing, who was an outcast that was unloved by many, including his father.” This was always the big reveal novices use to jump off into their story. He did not start here, instead, like any good fishermen, he set the bait and waited until the fish bit before pulling. As he saw the audience's eyes focus, he then started the backstory. The harness, that stopped the listeners from having metaphorical whiplash. The foreshadowing. “But that is not where the story starts. No, not even the hero's birth. Where the story begins, is the boredom of the deity, a deity many know of. She who hunts for the impossible, the guide for those who have lost the path, the Huntress of Mallon--” A small pause, a short breath. “--All old names for a single powerful being that has roamed the grounds of this continent longer than any line of kings or queens, lords or ladies. A being of worship for many an individual…” One last breath. And he began singing the first verse.
