Xiao Feng and Qin Se got out of the carriage which took them all the way from the Xiao family’s estate to the peerless sect’s admission building which was located in the middle layer of the human capital city Eden. They entered it and saw three counters inside it. The first one was on the left side of the room. The second one was on the right side of the room. And the third one was on the top side of the room. Two of those three counters were busy, and so they approached the counter that was not. Behind it, stood a woman who was in her twenties. She had normal skin, a square-shaped face, medium-length brown hair, big light-blue eyes, small breasts, average-sized butt and a triangle figure. She wore a white robe with a massive tortoise embroidered on it.
“Young master wishes to enter the peerless sect,” Qin Se said with both of his hands behind his back.
Xiao Feng nodded his head in agreement. “That’s right. I want to enter the peerless sect.”
“Very well,” the woman said as she nodded her head. She looked at Xiao Feng. “I am Bai Su and I will be overseeing your first two trials. What’s your name, little brother?”
“I am Xiao Feng.”
Bai Su nodded her head. “Nice to meet you, little brother Xiao Feng. Your first trial will be the trial of martial talent.” She pulled out a round colourless stone from behind the counter and placed it on it. This round colourless stone was none other than the martial talent testing stone. “Place your hand on the martial talent testing stone and after ten seconds remove it. Its colour will change depending on your martial talent. If it turns white, then your talent is of F-rank. If it turns yellow, then your talent is of E-rank. If it turns blue, then your talent is of D-rank. If it turns green, then your talent is of C-rank. If it turns red, then your talent is of B-rank. If it turns black, then your talent is of A-rank. To pass, you have to have at least C-rank martial talent. But if you have an A-rank martial talent, then you will be given ten Qi elixirs that boost Qi absorption rate by 5% when consumed and you will be allowed to take one skill or technique from the core disciple library or have a weapon crafted by the head elder of the blacksmith’s peak. That is if you manage to pass all of your trials and enter the peerless sect. Please, go ahead.” She finished her words by waving her hand at the martial talent testing stone.

Qin Se looked at Xiao Feng and widely smiled. “Go on, young master! Show her your martial talent!”
Xiao Feng nodded his head. He looked at the martial talent testing stone and placed his right hand on it. And after ten seconds have passed, he moved his right hand away.
Qin Se and Bai Su looked at the martial talent testing stone.
Under Xiao Feng’s, Qin Se’s and Bai Su’s eyes, the martial talent testing stone’s colour changed from colourless to white. From white to yellow. From yellow to blue. From blue to green. From green to red. From red to black. And then it shattered.
Bai Su’s eyes widened and mouth slightly opened from shock. “The martial talent testing stone shattered?” she mumbled and looked at Xiao Feng.
Qin Se closed his eyes and nodded his head twice. Then, he opened his eyes, looked at Bai Su and said, “Young master’s martial talent can’t be measured by some martial talent testing stone.” He looked smug.
Xiao Feng smiled and looked at Bai Su. “What’s the second trial?”
Bai Su gulped down her saliva. “You have passed the first trial of the peerless sect, little brother Xiao Feng. Congratulations. The second trial is the trial of the bloodline. But please don’t worry, little brother Xiao Feng. Even if you don’t have a bloodline, you will still be considered as to have passed this trial. But if you do have a bloodline and you pass all the trials of the peerless sect and enter it, you will be given another ten Qi elixirs that boost Qi absorption rate by 5% when consumed and you will be allowed to take one skill or technique from the core disciple library or have a weapon crafted by the head elder of the blacksmith’s peak.” She pulled out a round stone from behind the counter and placed it on it. But unlike the martial talent testing stone which was colourless, this one was pitch-black. “This is a bloodline testing stone and it will tell whether you have a bloodline or not. Place your hand on it and after ten seconds remove it. If you have a bloodline, it will turn transparent.”

“Young master forfeits this trial,” Qin Se said.
Bai Su looked at Qin Se and nodded her head. She opened her mouth, but before she could say even a single word, Xiao Feng said, “I am not forfeiting.” He looked at the bloodline testing stone and place his right hand on it. Bai Su and Qin Se looked at him.
“I understand, little brother Xiao Feng.”
“...”
Xiao Feng moved his right hand from the bloodline testing stone and both Qin Se and Bai Su looked at it. And sure enough, it turned transparent as Xiao Feng indeed have a bloodline. And not just one bloodline, but two bloodlines. The bloodline of the tyrannical emperor and the bloodline of the divine black dragon emperor.
Qin Se’s eyes widened and mouth opened from shock. “Young master has a bloodline?” he mumbled and gulped down his saliva.
Bai Su looked at Qin Se and glared at him. Then, she looked at Xiao Feng and said, “You have passed the second trial, little brother Xiao Feng. No, junior brother Xiao Feng. Junior brother Xiao Feng, your third and fourth trials will be—” but she cut her words short as the bloodline testing stone changed from transparent to pitch-black and to transparent again. Her eyes widened and mouth opened from shock. “Two bloodlines?” she mumbled.
Qin Se’s eyes and mouth widened even more from shock. “Two bloodlines?” he mumbled the same words that Bai Su has mumbled and looked at Xiao Feng. “This must be destiny. My master – Xiao Fang and my young master – Xiao Zhao were destined to die. Feng, a boy with a never before seen martial talent and two bloodlines was destined to be caught by the slavers. And I was destined to buy him from them and make him the young master of the Xiao family.”

Epoch: An NPC's Tale
Epoch is a slow-burn LitRPG/Gamelit novel that tells the story of Luke, later named Lucius—a natural inhabitant of the game-like realm of Elyssia where thousands upon thousands of detached, virtually unkillable entities known as the Players were suddenly introduced right after the dusk of the magnificent Age of Heroes. Shortly after the Players arrived, the balance of power in Elyssia instantly shifted. Kingdoms fell, wars were waged, alliances between races were made, and Lucius, after ten years of training in captivity, found himself being used as a pawn in a prophecy that he had no intention to fulfill. With aspirations and desires of his own, Lucius must find a way to cautiously adapt to the drastic changes in the very foundations of the realm after being sent 300 years into a future that was forever altered by the outcome of the war that his captors had lost and the Players won in a victory that resounded throughout the ages, all for a terrible price. Author's Note As an avid fan of the LitRPG genre myself, I wrote this novel with character progression, heavy Gamelit elements, and some degree of world-building in mind. If you like these, please feel free to give this novel a try. Oh, and the MC is also an NPC, in a sense. And wait, isn't this also an isekai story? Well, it's all a bit complicated to explain here. Maybe you should start reading now?

The first chapters are the crystallization of my first ever attempts at writing, I believe the story flow gets better as the chapters progress.
