The thirty-something-year-old elder from the Xi family arrived at the divine peak. He made his way to the massive building standing in its centre and entered it. He saw a woman who looked like she was around twenty years old with long brown hair, dark-green eyes and wearing a red robe with a majestic phoenix embroidered on it, sitting on the black throne and not the white one.
“Is it done, big brother Ren?” the woman said. “Is Xiao Fang’s son, Xiao Feng dead?”
“No,” Xi Ren said. “But more importantly. Where do you think you are sitting, Xi Far? That’s the sect master’s seat.”
Xi Far laughed. “It’s not his seat, big brother Ren. It’s yours. But okay.” She stood up from the black throne and sat down on one of the white ones. “Happy?”
“Yes,” Xi Ren said as he nodded his head. He sat down on one of the white thrones as well.
“Plan A was to use the ninth prince and the fifth princess to kill Xiao Feng,” Xi Far said. “What’s plan B?”
“Plan B is for him to die during a mission.”
“And when is he going on a mission?”
Xi Ren smiled. “Right now.”
…
“We are here,” Yuan Meiying said when she, Yuan Hao and Xiao Feng arrived at the mission centre. It was a three-storey building. They entered it. Inside it, there were eight counters in the centre of the room, forming a circle. Two staircases, one between the centre of the room and the east wall and the other between the centre of the room and the west wall. Three massive boards, one on the east wall, one on the west wall and one on the north wall. And a lot of disciples both young and old.

“Alright,” Yuan Hao said. “I will take the north mission board. Sister, you take the east mission board. And Xiao Feng, you take the west mission board. Take the hardest mission that you can find and come back here.”
“Okay, brother,” Yuan Meiying said.
“Okay,” Xiao Feng said.
Yuan Hao nodded his head. He, Yuan Meiying and Xiao Feng walked to the north mission board, the east mission board and the west mission board respectively. Arriving at it, Xiao Feng looked at the missions pinned on it. There were more than a hundred of them. Ninety-nine F-rank missions and twenty-three E-rank missions. He looked at the E-rank missions. They ranged from the herb gathering missions to the killing missions. He looked at the first killing mission.

“These killing missions are all the same,” Xiao Feng thought. “Only the place differs.” He took the first killing mission and returned to the place where he was supposed to meet Yuan Hao and Yuan Meiying. When he returned, they were waiting for him.
“Welcome back, Xiao Feng,” Yuan Meiying said.
“Yeah,” Yuan Hao said. “Welcome back. Now, show me the mission that you brought back.”
Xiao Feng nodded his head. He showed Yuan Hao and Yuan Meiying the mission that he took.

“Which one do we do?” Xiao Feng said.
“Let’s just do mine,” Yuan Hao said.
“I want to do Xiao Feng’s,” Yuan Meiying said and smiled.
Yuan Hao frowned and looked at Yuan Meiying. “Why?”
Yuan Meiying looked at Xiao Feng. “Whose mission do you want to do? Yours, mine or my brother’s?”
“Mine,” Xiao Feng said.
Yuan Meiying looked at Yuan Hao. “Then it’s settled.”
“It’s not settled,” Yuan Hao said with an annoyed voice. “Why should we do Xiao Feng’s mission and not mine?”
“Because it’s two against one, brother” Yuan Meiying said.
Yuan Hao clicked his tongue. “Fine!”
Xiao Feng, Yuan Hao and Yuan Meiying walked up to the unoccupied counter. Behind it, stood an old wearing a blue tunic and pants. “I will need your identification jade slips and the mission that you want to take on.”
Xiao Feng put the mission on the counter. Then, he pulled out his green jade slip from his robe and put it on the counter as well. Yuan Hao and Yuan Meiying pulled out their green jade slips from their robes and also put them on the counter.
The elder first looked at the mission and then when he looked three green jade slips, his eyes widened and mouth opened from shock. He looked at Xiao Feng, Yuan Hao and Yuan Meiying and loudly gulped down his saliva. Then, he looked down at the counter, took a sheet of paper and wrote – readwell wood, before stamping it. He pushed it towards Xiao Feng, Yuan Hao and Yuan Meiying. “H—here you go.”
Xiao Feng took the sheet of paper from the counter with his left hand and looked at it. “What’s this?”
“Is this the first time you are going on a mission?” Yuan Hao said as he and Yuan Meiying took their green jade slip from the counter and put them into their robes.
“Yes,” Xiao Feng said as he took his green jade slip from the counter with his right hand and put it into his robe.
Yuan Meiying looked at Yuan Hao. “Let me explain it to him, brother.”
Yuan Hao looked at Yuan Meiying. “Go ahead.”
Yuan Meiying nodded her head and looked at Xiao Feng. “Xiao Feng, you must have already noticed that there isn’t a bridge that you can take that would take you out off the peerless sect. And so, to leave the peerless sect, you need to use the teleport formation. But to use it, you have to have permission. And that sheet of paper that you are holding in your left hand is that permission. That said the core disciples, the elders of the divine peak and the sect master doesn’t need permission to use the teleport formation.”
“I see,” Xiao Feng said as he nodded his head in understanding.
“Let’s go,” Yuan Hao said. He, Yuan Meiying and Xiao Feng left the mission centre and made their way to the teleport formation.
