《Issekai Mockery》Issekai Mockery : Chapter 4, Trial and Sentence

Alvaro is sitting in his cell along with Ford, someone who apparently has had the same situation as him a long time ago. Ford has shared his story thus far with Alvaro as a means to find the long lost companionship he once knew. As he claims, he is hundreds of years old and the years passed took a toll on him.
"Carry on, I am interested to hear what follows after your time as a furry."
Ford looked confused, he didn't understand Alvaro's remark.
"What? What is this furry?"
Alvaro didn't want to get into much detail so he skipped ahead.
"Don't worry, carry on."
Ford picked up where he left with his life story,
"I woke up at a riverside far from the desert of the Beast-men. I had no idea how I ended up there after they burned me alive, the last thing I remembered was the face of my beloved, she was ashamed of her relationship with me, she viewed me as a monster. Once again, I was alone, naked and alone in the wilderness. I decided to walk downstream of the river. I thought that I would be able to find some sort of civilization, at this point, it didn't matter what kind of people I would find. I didn't have to worry about my survival, it wasn't a matter to find a place to sleep cozy or eat hot food. I was just afraid of being alone, I was at the brink of losing my sanity. After experiencing the agony and the pain of death countless times. I have witnessed the death of all those I cared about, all while I stayed alive. I despised the demon lord for giving me this curse, I despised the gods for allowing such a thing to happen to me. If I could turn back time, I would have never sided with him."
Alvaro stood up, he finally decided to share some of his thoughts with Ford.
"So in conclusion, you are a whiny little ashole who has the power to respawn. I didn't get any kind of over-powered ability like that when I transported and you are whining about being able to respawn!?"
Ford was shocked by Alvaro's response to his story, he thought he might find some form of sympathy from him but Alvaro continued to trash talk him.
"Don't you see the limitless possibility of a power like that? You could grind experience like there is no tomorrow! It doesn't matter if your foe is strong or not because you can't die. You are a crying little bitch!"
Ford was speechless, Alvaro was verbally assaulting him after hearing his story.
"What do you even know about me? Of the things that I have seen?"
Alvaro glared at Ford with immense pity.
"I know that you are an idiot, you fell victim only to your own self. Not this world nor any world is going to sugar coat shit for you. What did you expect to happen? Did you think that you would be able to live the rest of your life in harmony with your woman? Did you think you would be praised as a hero? For an old man, you are awfully naive and childish. Grow up and fix your own damn life from scratch."
Ford didn't know how to respond to that, somehow, Alvaro's words seemed wise, wiser than he could ever imagine even with eons of experience and knowledge. He raised his head to meet Alvaro's gaze.

"Thank you, young man. You have inspired me to keep going."
Alvaro sighed,
"No, I didn't. That was never my intention. All I want is for you to feel bad about wasting such an over-powered ability you ungrateful bastard. I am going to sleep, I will probably face trial tomorrow and I can't listen to your bullshit anymore."
Despite the fact that Alvaro continued to insult him, Ford smiled as he had gained some faith that was lost long ago. He didn't bother Alvaro anymore and let him lie down to sleep.
Morning came by fast, Alvaro woke up from a bell ring that one of the guards was ringing, he approached Alvaro's cell to talk to him.
"You, with the fine clothing, come with me. Your trial begins in an hour."
Alvaro walked out of the cell and followed the guard, they walked outside, next to the guard post was the interrogation chambers of the town's prosecutor. He was about to face him. Alvaro entered the building and he was placed on a chair in front of a desk, the guard tied his chains to the chair and locked the door as he exited the room. Not much time later, an old man entered the room with some papers in his hand, he was around his 70s with clear signs of aging on his face and some poorly shaved hair along his chin. He sat behind the desk facing Alvaro, after taking a look into what Alvaro thought was the report against him, he raised his head and looked at him.
"Good morning, young man."
Said the prosecutor in a calm voice without any kind of emotion, no anger or sympathy, simply talking to make his point. Despite the fact that Alvaro was unable to figure out what he was thinking, he replied to the prosecutor with an emotionless tone as well.
"Good morning, sir."
The prosecutor made a slightly annoyed face, he didn't like the fact that Alvaro replied so casually, in his line of work, most people wouldn't be calm at this moment, they would often let loose some form of negative emotion in their voice. Alvaro wasn't a simple man though, he figured the reason that the prosecutor was acting cold, it was a test to figure out what he was thinking and Alvaro figured it instantly. He figured it after seeing the slight change in the prosecutor's expression. From this point on, it's time to unfold his bullshit.
"So, you mugged two young girls, anything you want to say?"
The prosecutor made it look like Alvaro had no way out, he specifically said that he mugged them, not that he is accused of mugging them. Alvaro knew that this was also a trick. He used a trick of his own that he referred to as 'Puppy Eyes'. He looked at the prosecutor with the most innocent eyes a person could hope to have and replied to his remark.
"No, sir. I would never have thought to harm another person. I don't have any need for money, my father covers all of my expenses. Even if I wanted more money, I couldn't do something so horrible to another person."
An excellent performance from Alvaro, the prosecutor had no choice but to drop the tricks and ask him directly. He sighed before honestly asking him.
"Ah... From what the guard told me...Did you meet two women yesterday?"

Alvaro knew exactly how much cluelessness he needed to employ to make his story sound believable.
"Yes, that guard described the women that reported me and I did meet them."
The prosecutor scratched his patchy beard and continued.
"These women said that you mugged them for all they had on them and then you told them to report you, now that is something I have never seen before. Who in their right mind would do something like that? Even the most stupid crooks I have ever met wouldn't just let their victims report them and then stay there for their arrest. I am starting to question the truth for this report."
Alvaro continued to play dumb and went along with the situation.
"The guard also told me that. He also asked me a couple of questions about these women."
The prosecutor had the full report in front of him as well as the report from the first interrogation with the guard. He had a general idea of what Alvaro said at the time.
"These women you met, did they ask you to sleep with them?"
Alvaro wasn't sure what to do at this point, he didn't have enough information about this world to know the exact age of consent so he couldn't really act clueless. If for whatever reason the boys of this world knew about sex at his age, it would be strange for him to act like he didn't. So he decided to play another card. Since the guard thought he was clueless from the first interrogation, Alvaro decided to let some of his act.
"You see, sir... I didn't tell the guard about it because I thought I might get in trouble but... These women that apparently filled the report did try to seduce me. I am as innocent as I let the guard see. I know what they wanted from me and I understand that they probably want me in jail for some kind of revenge."
The prosecutor finally had something to continue. Alvaro sold that perfectly.
"I see... There wasn't any stolen money on you at the moment of your arrest and that story sounds more realistic than what the report said. Do you mind telling me some things about you? Your full name, where you are from?"
Alvaro knew that at this point they had nothing on him. He knew that he was almost off the hook. He also knew that in a situation like this, the guards wouldn't just let him go. It would seem like a disgrace for them to have captured an innocent man for no reason. Since Alvaro knew that, he had to portrait himself as someone of important status to discourage the prosecutor from jailing him to maintain the honor of the guards.
"My name is Casino, I am the youngest son of a duke from a neighboring human establishment of merchants."
The prosecutor was a bit shaken from what Alvaro said, certainly he must be telling some kind of truth. His clothes seemed to be of incredible quality and he has the airs of a duke's child. As such he couldn't really put him to jail without actual proof. He was afraid that even if he is telling the truth then his father would look for him and give him trouble for arresting his son. As such he dropped everything.
"I see, what are you in our town for? Market scouting? Perhaps you are here to visit a friend?"
Alvaro took note of the change in the prosecutor's tone and capitalized on that.
"Yes, I came to visit a merchant at the Black Shroud Inn. We have some business to discuss and I would appreciate it if your guards don't drag me here again and make me waste time and money. I suppose some compensation for the time I wasted is appropriate, maybe for the emotional stress as well?"
Alvaro's lack of shame knows no bounds, he asked to be compensated for his arrest. The prosecutor already lost most of his confidence in front of Alvaro's bravado and was almost sure that he had to deal with a noble at this point. Alvaro's play worked perfectly.
"I don't know what this 'emotional stress' you are talking about is but we would surely compensate you for your lost time and also for any probable reputation damage you might have suffered for this arrest. I hope to meet you and your father in more fortunate circumstances in the future."
Said the prosecutor as he pulled a piece of paper and put his signature on.
"I hope so too. Am I free to go?"
Said Alvaro while bathing in the waters of accomplishment and self-reward.
"Yes, of course. You may take this document to the town's counting-house and redeem your compensation of 200 gold coins. I bid you farewell young man."
Alvaro took the piece of paper and greeted the prosecutor. He walked outside with a sense of victory as he thought.
"Ah... Thank god I can bullshit my way through all of this. What should I do next? If my calculations are correct, I can spend almost a year in some of the inns of this town. Nah... I can't just lay around all day. Maybe I should check out the adventurer's guild after all. At least I can get more than standard starter gear with this money. I also need to gather more information about this place. Enough fucking around. Time to start my character build."

Dominion Expansion (a 4X LitRPG)
Clay is one of the world's top players of 4X games, a genre where the goal is to eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, and eXterminate. He's also one of the only players in the world to so stubbornly stick to the one city strategy, a favorite tactic of his that involves only ever using a single city or planet depending on the game's setting. All that matters to him is winning with his favorite strategy, but earning the respect of his fellow players for taking a sub-optimal strategy to its highest level has always been a nice bonus. And now it is because of his skill and entertaining determination that he has been chosen to represent a higher realm in a strategy game where the fate of Earth and dozens of other worlds are at stake. To the victor goes the spoils, and the spoils include entire worlds and billions of lives. That's how he ends up representing the ascended realm of Hell in a grand "game" between an entire pantheon of godly beings and other higher powers. But while it may just be a game to those overseeing it, it is a genuine war for survival to those participating in it where billions of real lives will go to the victor of whoever wins, and many will die before the game is over. Quick Author's Notes: System inspired by Civilization, Endless Legend, Stellaris, and Crusader Kings 2. Combat mechanics inspired by the Total War series. Slow-paced with many long-term plans. Protagonist has a personality heavily inspired by Ron Swanson. Know who that is and love him? You should like Clay. Know who Ron Swanson is and hate him? You'll probably hate Clay. Planning on writing every single day (turn). Days with important things happening will have the system/game mechanics be the priority of the chapter. Days where there isn't really anything important happening will be more slice-of-life and focused on character interactions. Designed a dice-based randomized map generator to create the world as the story goes on, so I don't even know myself exactly what's going to happen as a lot is dependent on world generation. Tech tree with hundreds of technologies already designed. There is a "harem," but it's not the main focus, the girls won't be cardboard cutouts, and I'm not going to completely forget about any previous women in the relationship whenever a new one comes along. One last thing. The "game" starts off with primitive technology level. The current plan is for the "endgame" tech level to be equivilent to WW2-era technology. After that and war just gets boring until you end up in space. Cover is temporary and made from royalty-free stock images while waiting for the real cover's commission to finish.
