- Heather's POV
"You lot have some explaining to do!"
I look up from my spot building the castle with Luca. Xavier walking out trying to slow down the two woman bulldozing towards me. I shake my head and roll my eyes while standing up brushing the sand off of my legs. Luca still building away. Xavier comes around the two woman who are standing there with their arm crossed. He stands behind me placing his arm around my bare waist rubbing his thumb on my side. My insides warming up from the gentle touch.
"Hi moms..." I say trailing off. They both keep glaring at me. I give them a sheepish smile. My mom is the first to speak up pointing a finger at me.
"Have anything to tell me?" She ask knowingly.
"Mrs. Drake, Mom- How bout we go into the house?" Xavier suggests trying to defuse the growing tension. They look to Luca and understand. I turn back to him taking his hand in mine. He doesn't hesitate following me in. He gestures for me to pick him up and as I begin to lift him Xavier quickly snatches him out of my hands. I give him a questionable look. "Your not lifting heavy objects anytime soon."
I chuckle but don't argue with him. Xavier ask Luca to run upstairs to clean up as we follow the ladies into the living room where they are already seated. Xavier takes my hand and we go into the living room sitting in front of them. Xavier placing me gently on his lap which I blush at.
"Alright you two. Let me make sure I understand this correctly. First thing is you moved in together a month ago. Then a few days ago we found out you were pregnant." Mrs. Sanford starts while looking between the two of us. "Now I found out that you two are married?!?" I look down at Xavier's arm that has woven around my stomach. I place my arm on top of it rubbing it absentmindedly. My mother looks at aww before her eyes catch sight of the ring and her eyes glare at me.
"Mom, who told you we were married?" Xavier ask his mother calmly.

"The only person in this family who ever tells me anything." I turn around raising an eyebrow once again in question. Xavier's head drops back on the chair before he grumbles Theo. I make an O face and turn back to the ladies waiting impatiently for an answer. "Is it true?"
"Yes" I answer honestly not being able to conceal my smile. I look up to my mom with tears in my eyes. She softens instantly.
"We wanted you to propose. NOT GET MARRIED WITHOUT A CEREMONY!" Mary says throwing her hands up.
"Mom, we didn't want a big wedding. We just-" I cut Xavier off by placing my hand gently on his knee. Both ladies catching the movement.
"Mrs. Sanford, it was actually me who did this. After he proposed, I did not want to wait to be his wife nor Luca's mother." I look to her with a soft smile. She crumbles and sighs. I giggle gently seeing how easy these woman change emotions.
"I told you to call me mom." She says pouting. My mother laughs and hugs her sideways. I laugh and nod to her.
"My baby... I just wanted to be part of it." My mother says with her head still resting on Mary's shoulder.
"We can still hold a reception if you ladies would like to host. I just do not want any stress on Heather at this time." Xavier says from behind me making me turn tomato red. I know he is being overly protective but I couldn't care. I know how much all this means to him. Both of the mother's looking at us in awe. They stand up walking over to us. I stand up embracing them both into a big hug.
"Let me see the ring sweetie!" Mary says pulling back. They both look at the ring admiring it's beauty. "Perfect job son."
"Mom, how did Dad handle it?" I ask looking up at my mom. She smirks which makes me nervous.
"Did you really think I was going to be the one to tell them?" I shiver realizing what she was implying. I turn to Xavier to see him gulping. I gently cup his cheek making him focus on me. He places his hands on my side.

"Together love. We will tell them both together." I say pulling his face to me for a gentle kiss. He nods his head but still looks nervous.
The next hour is spent with the ladies asking us questions about the ceremony, the proposal. Their jaws dropped and they looked like they were going to explode when I first said he didn't propose. I then explained that he wasn't willing to make it a question which made the ladies smirk. I then told them how I arranged the whole ceremony. Mary broke into tears when I told her that I became Luca's legal mother. I then told my mother that she was my inspiration making her cry as well. After a few tears and a lot of laughs, they ladies seemed to forgive us for not having them at the ceremony. They did decide that they would be holding a reception for us which they would let us know when.
"Momma, can I go see Uncle Nicholas?" I turn to the voice I have grown to love most. I nod my head and watch as he yells yes making me laugh. He runs back up stairs as I turn back to Xavier. He is still on his phone which he has been on trying to fix some issues at the office. I walk over to him wrapping my arms around his waist from behind kissing his spine.
"Will discuss this in a bit. I have some place I have to be." He hangs up not waiting on a reply. He turns around in my arms wrapping his arms around me.
"Are you okay?" I asked concerned. He kisses my forehead and sighs deeply.
"Nothing I can't handle sweetheart." I nod my head not pushing the issue. "Come on sweetheart, will get Luca ready to go to Cami's and Nicholas' while we head to the doctor."
I nod my head again leaving him while I go get Luca ready. I help him get a bag ready since I wasn't sure how long we would be gone. Tessa helping pack some snacks. I walk back down stairs after changing into something comfortable. Xavier pacing in the living room staring at his phone. He sees us and puts his phone away walking over to us relaxing his muscles. He takes my hand leading us outside. After dropping Luca with Nicholas, Xavier still seemed off so I decided to question him again.
"Xavier, what's going on?" He sighs deeply and leans his head back. I press the divider up allowing us some privacy. I grip his hand reassuringly.
"I am worried." He says looking at the window sounding lost.
"About what." I ask gently.
"I have to head to Russia for a few weeks and I don't wish to leave you here." I stiffen for a moment processing what he was telling me. Then I internally melt at his thoughtfulness. I lean over kissing his cheek making him turn his attention back to me.
"Love, I will be okay." I whisper softly against his cheek.
"I just..." He turns his full body towards me. "I would feel better if you came with me."
I smile knowingly before trying to make him see reason.
"I must stay. I have my job and Luca to look after." He closes his eyes and deeply exhales. "Xavier, everything will be fine sweetheart."
"I don't want to leave you." He says gripping my hands firmly.
"When."
"I leave in 3 days. I will return in two weeks and not any later." He takes my hand kissing the back of it. "George will be with you the entire I am gone."
"Xavier, that is not-"
"Sweetheart." He says in warning. I giggle but just nod my head okay.
"Alright husband. First lets see our baby, then speak to our dads before you jet out of here." I say chuckling.
"Your my Angel, do you know that?"
"Only yours love." I say kissing him once again which he lingers. I didn't mind realizing how concerned he was leaving me here. I think it was truly sweet but I no longer had any fears of someone hunting me down so I felt more secure than ever.
"Sir, Miss. We're here."

Shadowcroft Academy for Dungeons: Year One
Build a Dungeon. Slay Heroes. Survive Finals. Wounded Army vet Logan Murray thought mimics were the stuff of board games and dungeon manuals… right up until one ate him. In a flash of snapping teeth, Logan suddenly finds himself on the doorstep to another world. He’s been unwittingly recruited into the Shadowcroft Academy for Dungeons—the most prestigious interdimensional school dedicated to training the monstrous guardians who protect the Tree of Souls from so-called heroes. Heroes who would destroy the universe if it meant a shot at advancement. Unfortunately, as a bottom-tier cultivator with a laughably weak core, Logan’s dungeon options aren’t exactly stellar, and he finds himself reincarnated as a lowly fungaloid, a three-foot-tall mass of spongy mushroom with fewer skills than a typical sewer rat. If he’s going to survive the grueling challenges the academy has in store, he’ll need to ace the odd assortment of classes—Fiendish Fabrication, Dungeon Feng Shui, the Ethics of Murder 101—and learn how to turn his unusual guardian form into an asset instead of a liability. And that’s only if the gargoyle professor doesn’t demote him to a doomed wandering monster first…
