surprise?
I impatiently tapped my feet on the wooden floor, waiting for Jungkook to pick up. I wondered if he was busy today, maybe that was why he wouldn't pick up the phone.
"Hello?" He almost yelled into the phone, quickly apologizing. "Sorry, babe!" I laughed, shaking my head through the phone.
"What's so loud, anyways?" I asked, it was usually quiet inside his recording studio whenever I called him.
"I just had my headphones on, so I couldn't properly hear you. I'm currently recording a new single, which, of course, will be shown to you first!" The bunny exclaimed all excitedly. I smiled, knowing that I'm always the first person that hears his new singles is always the best part.
Of course, there were a lot of moments where he showed me his single that he was so extremely proud of, yet he couldn't get it published. Those days were the worst. He'd snap on me, argue, and all of the above—yet I stuck with him because I knew how hard it was for him. It wasn't Jungkook, it was some raging monster that came out because he was disappointed with himself.
Besides that point, whenever he would be able to publish a track, he was the happiest he could ever be. It's okay to fail sometimes, because then you learn from your mistakes. Jungkook has been able to publish songs more than he could not.
"Oh, Jungkook. I'm having a couple of my friends over tonight for dinner—try to come home around dinner time, please?" I asked. Knowing very well that they weren't just my friends. I bit my lip, knowing that he was going to like this surprise I had in store.
"Of course princess." I smiled so widely that I was sure he could feel my smile from the other side of the phone line. Two years since we've married and still, princess gets me every time. It makes me get red and feel flustered is all. Maybe a little turned on too. "Love you!" He exclaimed.
"Love you more." I smiled, looking down at my feet before we ended the call.
I'll let you in on the surprise. Bangtan has been on quite a hiatus lately, all of us being on different paths. None of us have been able to actually settle down and hang together. Some were all over the world, while some were managing bakeries—but all the same amount of success. I, personally, have been missing each and every one of them, so I decided to have them over as my friends for dinner. Jungkook has seemed to miss them, too—so I decided to surprise him with them in the wildest way ever.

Maybe it'll be over the top, but hey, that's how Jungkook and I got engaged. A part of me will feel bad for him, but at the same time, no mercy.
"You really want to do this?" Jimin asked. His purple hair really caught my attention, but I tried my best to look at him.
"More than ever." I confirmed. Looking around, I realized how everyone, even Taehyung, had gone back to their natural roots. Except for Jimin. Ever since meeting him, I also always noticed that he was the one that would dye his hair the wildest colors. From red, to orange, to yellow, to blue, to purple, and to even pink. It was just a small thought, but it captivated my attention for awhile.
"It's time." Namjoon said as I speed dialed Jungkook while mustering up my acting skills. I really hoped that this would work, or else the surprise would be ruined.
"Y/N?" He picked up the phone call, probably wondering why I called at this time. Usually, he's still in his recording studio and I only call once or twice a day.
"J-Jungkook?" I stuttered out while whispering quietly, forcing out a whimper.
"Y/N princess? What's wrong? Are you okay?" His tone turned serious within seconds. A chair seemed to fall in the background, probably him standing up.
"Y-Yeah, but I think s-someone's in our house. I-I don't know. I'm in the closet right now." I whispered into the phone, sounding completely terrified. It seemed to work, too.
"Fuck, okay, lock the door, okay? I'll be there in a few minutes. Stay on this call." There was a bunch of ruffled noises as I stayed in the closet, waiting for him to come through the door. I left the door unlocked so he would buy into it.
"Y/N? Don't worry about a thing, okay?" He said, as I let out a small cry. Or, tried to sound like I made one. "Don't cry, princess. Everything will be alright." Those words made me tear up even more, and I felt guilty for even bringing this idea up.
Surprisingly, within minutes he was already home. I heard a sling of incoherent words as I heard footsteps nearing me. I tucked my head under my knees as rehearsed as the closet door open. I looked up, finding a horribly concerned Jungkook looking down at me.
It only took me awhile, but I managed to let out a real sob. I'm no actor, but when I think of sad things, I cry. So that's what I did during the time Jungkook drove over.
"Princess." He let out a tight smile, hugging me like he wouldn't see me again—almost taking my breath away. As quickly as the hug lasted, it ended. He pulled away, wiping my tears with his thumb. "I checked the bedrooms already, did the intruder leave?" He whispered, while at the same time grabbing the gun from under our bed. It was necessary.

"I-I don't know, there's a light on in the bathroom though." I pointed to the one where I had set the trap.
"Stay here," he whispered as he kissed my forehead before he slowly inched to the bathroom. I bit my bottom lip as he slowly closed to the bathroom.
The lights were on, and he seemed on edge, knowing that the "intruder" was in there. I took a deep breath, knowing what might come next. It might've been a surprise, but I was nervous myself.
I followed him out slowly, despite his words to 'stay back'. When Jungkook kicked the door open, he didn't expect that it was empty.
In my peripheral vision, I noticed that Bangtan had followed my plan and left their hiding spot from the behind the counter. They were standing right in view so when Jungkook exited the room, he'd see them immediately.
I had something else in stock, though. "There's no one—" his words got caught inside his mouth. The gun he had placed in his palms had been dropped, and all of his attention was focused on one thing.
He kept his eyes on one object as he slowly picked it up. I smiled, real tears pooling my eyes as I saw the emotions flood through his face. He broke out of his trance, raising the positive pregnancy test up to check if it was real. Oh it was real alright.
"Y-You're pregnant?" The two words seemed to hit hard, as Jungkook smiled like there was no tomorrow. I rubbed my arm, nodding. I briefly looked to my left, finding Bangtan surprised as well. I told them the whole plan, all except for this.
Jungkook ran to me, not even noticing the rest of Bangtan standing there as he picked me up and spun me around as if there was nobody else in the world. Just us, and our growing fetus.
I smiled as tears slid down my cheeks, I was happy, we were happy. "God, you are so perfect." He whispered into the ridge of my neck as he hugged me tightly.
"I wish I was cut out to be a father, though." He pulled away, giving me a small frown.
I shook my head, giving him a tight smile as I wiped the strand of hair that had covered his eyes out of the way. "You're more than cut out to be a father. You've taken care of me all these years and you protected me. Now, it's just a little extra work." I wrapped my arms around his neck. "You're going to be a great father, Jungkook." His eyes teared up as I stepped onto my tip-toes and planting my lip onto his.
"YOU'RE PREGNANT?" A scream ripped from behind us. We immediately pulled away, and for a second I had forgotten that they were even here.
Jungkook quickly wiped his tears with his thumbs before pulling away from me, focusing his attention on the boys. "Hyung!" He exclaimed, rushing towards them and pulling them into a group hug. "I really missed you guys." Jungkook's bunny teeth displayed as he smiled, signaling that he was really happy. It was so cute, whenever his hyungs come to town, he'd always switch from being a daddy to a literal baby.
After their little hug, everyone turned their attention onto me. "You didn't tell us that was a part of the plan!" Seokjin exclaimed, throwing his hands up.
"I wanted to surprise everyone, that's why I gathered all of you here today." I smiled, rubbing my very small stomach. There wasn't anything there yet, but soon there will be.
"Congratulations!" Jimin jumped up and ran to give me a hug, Taehyung joining. I was happy at their reaction—which was better than I had expected. Namjoon came over and patted my back while everyone had a smile on their faces. I turned my attention onto Jungkook, a permanent smile on his face.
"Out of everyone, we never really expected our maknae to be the first father." Yoongi said, a gummy smile drawing on his face. He patted Jungkook's back as Jungkook put his head down, smiling as everyone teased Jungkook.
Looking back, from what I came from, from what I went through, I really did get it all. I got someone to love for the rest of my life, and I got people to depend on no matter what. Most importantly, I have a family now.
Of course, I've done some things that were wrong, but there were intentions. I would do it over and over again without regrets because what I did was for our rights.
This is where my story ends, where the rest is just for us. Us~ as in me, Jungkook, our growing fetus, and Bangtan. This is where you decide.

Shaman
*** Let's get this clear now: the MC is a trans woman. This is not a gender-bender. It's set in a fantasy world but the exploration of identity and gender is reality-based. Not a joke, not a kinky turn-on. If this is a problem for you, please just act like an adult and look elsewhere for something to read. *** Rating breakdown, since that should be public info: 2 x 5*, 1 x 4.5*, 1 x 3*, no reasons offered. A human shaman and healer returns from several years with the mysterious shyani, accompanied by her shapeshifting puma best friend. A valued friend, from her previous identity as a male student physician, has acquired an old shyani book, and extremists will not tolerate its presence in human hands. But back in human lands, the question arises: which world does she belong in? Generations ago, human explorers found a continent inhabited by an utterly alien culture of shapeshifting weyres and the shyani, humanoids who prefer dusk and dawn. A truce of sorts was eventually reached: humans claimed the rich lowlands, and the shyani and weyres retain the highlands. Along the border, practicality often rules, but on either side, old grudges linger in some hearts. As a student physician, Corin tried to take his own life, unable to bear the countless tiny wounds inflicted over twenty-one years of lying to himself in order to be, or pretend to be, socially acceptable. At the last improbable instant, intervention came, in the form of a spirit fox, who led him away from the existence he’d known in the lowlands and into the highlands. There, a puma weyre rescued him, and a shyani shaman helped him find his true self and offered a rebirth, a life with no more lies, and an important role to fill. Now a shaman and healer in her own right, Vixen who was once Corin learns that the one human who mattered to her in her previous life, then a fellow University student, has come into possession of an old shyani book, and the more fanatical shyani and weyres will stop at nothing to reclaim it and punish Jared. Even though it means going back into the lowlands and facing Jared as a woman, she can’t bear to just look the other way. This should be a short visit, just long enough to see the book into the proper hands and make sure Jared will not be killed for having it, and then she can return to the shyani community that has accepted her as their shaman. And, of course, her feline best friend Dayr insists on coming with her. But Jared is now a Lord, with considerable wealth and power, and his response to her presence isn’t one she expected. After years living with the shyani, she sees everything around her from a new perspective, and that makes it difficult to keep to the plan of making as few waves as possible. As an honoured guest in a highborn house, with only Jared aware that she has ever been anyone else, Vixen finds herself questioning where she belongs: with Dayr and the shyani, who accept her gender without question but have to make allowances for her differences, or with humans, in the culture she grew up in even though her past would mean a major scandal? *** Trigger warning: there are scenes of Vixen's previous life, which include some difficult moments and culminate in an (obviously unsuccessful) attempt at suicide before she finds her true self and a better life. Please be careful! This is the ONLY reason for the "Traumatising Content" tag.*** Complete stand-alone novel, 96K words. Also available on Scribble Hub and as a free ebook.
