In the distance I can not only smell the burning wood but also see the walls of smoke surrounding us; fuck! Everyone is behind me because I'm running like my life depends on it and if I'm honest, it is. Emily is my life and I can't go on with her. Sebastian told me firefighters and ambulances are making their way where we are and I hope as fuck they come fast. My body is living on adrenaline, my heartbeat rising with each second and my brain is on; the only scenario it's making is the dead of my wife. Don't think like that stupid brain!

I arrive first, looking around, waving the smoke out of my face when I spot Emily, not on fire yet but passed out; fuck. The fire is pretty bad, the gasoline already burning and it reaches the tree pretty soon if I don't do something. Enzo and Sebastian are now too on my side, spotting her immediately.

"The firefighters are here soon!" Seb yells, coughing on the smoke.

"We don't have the fucking time for that!" I yell back, throwing my gun down and all the other ones so I'm lighter on my feet.

"What the fuck are you doing!?" Enzo asks, stopping me but I shrug him away.

"What do you think!?" cough. "I'm going to get Emily before it's too late!" cough again.

"Are you crazy!? You're going to die!?"

"So is Emily if I don't go!" without thought, I run towards her. The fire in front of me is massive but somehow, I don't have a clue, I past it. Coughing, I scan the place, trying to find her. Only a few feet away, she's there, tied against the tree; fuck! I make an attempt to go but suddenly a branch falls in front of me, getting on fire as well and I jump away, falling. My arm gets on fire but thank fuck I have my armor still on. The world suddenly starts spinning and I know I'm getting oxygen deprivation; I only have a few seconds left before I chock...

Standing up, I find the power again to safe my wife. In the distance you can hear sirens from a helicopter. The wind it's producing doesn't help because now the fire only get's in my face. Jumping over the last bunch, I feel the heat of the fire now; fuck, I feel like bacon now...

"Emily!" I yell when I stand next to her, relieve filling me to see her again. I don't waste time; pulling the knife out of my pocket, I cut the ropes and rope straps off her in one go, the strength I'm feeling surprises me and I pull Emily over my shoulder; here we go butterfly. Looking around I try to find a way out. The way I used to come here is useless now, mostly because of the wood falling from above, I cough some more. How am I going to get out of here? The firefighter's helicopter is here, not waiting for putting the fire out. Water streams down us and I'm relieved because now a way is cleared for us.

I run in that direction, holding onto Emily and making sure she's safe. The fire isn't out yet because as soon as it was gone, it starts again. This is getting out of hand.

"MATEO! WE'RE HERE!" I hear a familiar voice yell and find Enzo in the distance, what I think is extinguisher in one hand and helps clear the way. Another load of water falls onto me and Emily and I pull her off my shoulder so I can hold her in a princess hold. The way is clear again so I need to move fast. Coughing like a crazy person, I manage to get out of there, the fire behind me, my wife in my arms and everyone safe...

"Mateo!" Enzo yells, rushing to my side when I fall on my knees, Emily in my lap and I check her pulls.

"It's weak..." fuck! Don't die! Soon the ambulances arrive as well, they taking my task over.

"Sir, please stay behind, we will try to anything we can to safe her" the paramedic tells me, another one already putting an oxygen mask on her.

"She's very weak!" one of them says.

"Bring her in the car, we need to go the hospital AS" he response; fuck! No...This doesn't sound good.

"Mateo..." I hear Sebastian says, pulling me into a big hug. "You're fine" I groan and he lets me go and pull my shirt up to find burn marks there. "Shit! You need to go to the hospital as well" I stop him.

"No, first Emily, she needs the help first"

"SIR!" he yells anyways, getting their attention; Sebastian really ignore all my orders today...It's pissing me off even more but I can't be for too long because now I feel relieve; I'm so fucking happy we found Emily but my body is still in so much shock it doesn't feel anything right now. "My Boss is hurt! He needs to come with you" the paramedic considers it but nods.

"Come on, but don't be in the way!"

5 minutes passed when we finally are out of the woods, Emily's hand in mine when I stare at her...She looks so beat up that my fist clenches. I swear if I get Ben in my hands, I will make his life a living hell. Emily opens her eyes, looking around and the parademic is with me in the back trying to talk to her.

"Emily El Ricci, Can you hear me?" she asks loudly but Emily doesn't say anything, instead she closes her eyes again, the grip she first had on my hand disappearing and something in my chest burst open.

"She won't die, right?" I ask her but she doesn't give answer and I know what that means...They're not sure.

"We'll try our best, sir, but she had a lot of smoke inside her lungs and the heat didn't help much either but the baby is fine"

"Almost their" the paramedics in the front announce and take my phone to let my dad know where we are and I do the same for Enzo and Sebastian.

3 hours later I wait inside the lobby because the doctors told me they need check her body because there concerned about her head; apparently she hit it somewhere and it caused a small stroke. I'm terrified if I'm honest because I don't want the same thing to happen to her like with Celeb; she can't forget me...

I, on the other hand, am doing not so great. The injures and burns on my arms and back are the least of my worries now, Emily is! She's the one I'm worried about and I think about her all the time. If I had order more guards for her then she wouldn't be lying here. If I hadn't listen to her she would be here either...

I sit on the chair, my head in my hands, regret filling me. This is all my fault... the little television is on in the corner, the news in on and it's reporting about the fire. Most of them guessing it have something to do with the dryness of the forest and that it was just a matter of time before it catches on fire; FUCK! I feel horrible.

The door burst open, dad, mom, Olivia, Bella and some other guards running in, spotting me.

"Son!" dad says. "How are you doing? How is Emily doing?" I love how much he shows interest in Emily but we all know he only does that because she's pregnant with my child; I don't want my family to love her because of that! I want them to love her for whom she is: a wonderful, strong woman she loves me and will be there standing next to me, supporting me...standing up, I approach them, answering all their questions.

"Am fine but Emily is having an operation right now; apparently she hit her head" I say on a sigh, hating how weak I sound.

"And the baby?" Dad asks on instant, staying as calm as the old man can.

"The baby is fine I think...I don't know..." I slum back in the chairs, pulling my hair. "I don't know a thing what's happening in there..." Bella comes and sits next to me, her gentle hand resting on my shoulder.

"Emily is strong, she's going to make it" she says more to herself but I appreciate the support.

"She's going to be fine, Darling" mom says, smiling and I nod back, not caring what everyone has to say because if I'm honest I just want to go in the operation room, demanding how Emily is doing but I don't...what if she's dying and the doctors are trying to safe her and I storm inside on the wrong moment...Don't think like that. My phone buzzes and I find Enzo texting me.

The fire is almost gone

Sebastian is running after Ben, someone saw him in one of the night stores

Catch the fucking bastard and hurt him but don't kill him, that's my task!

The door opens and everyone stands up while one of the old doctors makes his way towards me, a tight expression on his face.

"How is she?" I ask, standing in front of him.

"Mr. El Ricci, your wife is fine" I let out a sigh of relieve that I didn't know I was holding and everyone behind me cheers as well.

"How's the baby?"

"The baby is fine but we're not sure"

"What do you mean?" now I feel my chest hurt, scared and terrified.

"Right now your wife is in an artificial coma, we didn't have a choice but the risk we're taking is huge..." I wait for him to enlighten me further. "We need to wait a week so the body can heal in peace and after that she should wake up but for the baby we aren't sure"

"You need to safe both them" I say a little too firmly and I see sweat breaking on his forehead.

"We do our best...only you can enter her room or if she has any family, then they can as well"

"No, she doesn't have any family" I answer, desperate to go inside.

"Alright, follow me" we both walk to the room Emily is in. Bella trying to convince me but I didn't listen...I need to go in first. "She's here...If you would talk to her, she maybe can hear you" I nod and he leaves me. Taking a deep breath, I open the door, scared for what I might see...
