《Somebody To Love (#4)》CHAPTER 8: Pissed Him Off

Gareth wasn't in the room when I woke up. His pillow was neatly placed back on the bed and his duvet was already folded.
I did my morning routine and went downstairs for breakfast.
Diana set down a plate of food infront of me and I digged in.
Gareth walked in a few minutes later in a pair of jeans and a t shirt.
"Breakfast?" Diana asked him politely.
"No need", he muttered a bit rudely.
"Why?"
"Not that hungry", he said in the same tone.
I felt a bit bad for Diana but she didn't seem to mind it.
He walked past her and opened the refrigerator taking out two pieces of bread and frowned on not finding something he was looking for.
"Where's the damn butter?" He said in an exasperated plus anger laced tone, slamming the door of the refrigerator shut.
"It's here." Diana handed him the box of butter kept on the counter.
He made himself a bread butter sandwich and went out of the kitchen munching on it.
"Geez." Diana rolled her eyes. "Did he not sleep well last night?"
"I don't know." I said sheepishly, ignoring the part where I made him sleep on the floor. "Why?"
"Whenever he doesn't sleep well, he is grumpy the whole day."
"Thank goodness he doesn't have to go to office today. Or his employees would have had a hard day." She added.
And I gave her a tight smile not knowing what to say.
She started washing the dishes and looked at me over the shoulder. "Don't you have to go to the restaurant today?"
"No. Aeryn told me to have a few days off and rest."
She hummed in response and continued washing the dishes. I gave my empty plate to her and was about to move out of the kitchen when my vision blurred. And I blinked a few times trying to clear it.
My head spun and dizziness washed over me. My knees buckled and I fell down on the floor and heard Diana exclaim. "Harper!"
I placed my hand over my forehead. What all is happening with me?
Just then Gareth came running into the kitchen and frowned on seeing me on the floor.
"What are you looking at?" Diana questioned him when he just stood there. "Call a doctor!"
"No. I am fine." Saying, I tried standing up and feet wobbled, before I could fall, Diana grabbed my arm and steadied me.

Gareth had already called the doctor. When Diana glared at him, gesturing him to hold me.
He subtly rolled his eyes. "I have been told to not touch her."
Diana looked at me and I smiled sheepishly. Rolling her eyes she helped me walk out to the living room and made me sit down on the couch.
She then brought me a glass of water that I drank and they both stood there, watching me, scrutinizing my face as if I just had a heart attack.
"I am fine! Stop looking at me like that." I said exasperatedly.
Diana made me lie down on the couch and Gareth left to God knows where.
That man doesn't even care.
Not that it's affecting me. I rolled my eyes at his actions and closed my eyes.
.
.
.
I might have fallen asleep because when I opened my eyes I gasped seeing an elder man hovering over me looking at me carefully.
Seeing me awake he leaned back and offered me a warm smile and I sat up straight.
Gareth was standing at a distance with his hands folded across his chest and Diana was at the entrance.
The doctor checked my eyes for God knows what and took my blood and did a few more things and asked me questions. Blah. Blah. Blah.
Gareth unfolded his hands and stepped closer. "Is the baby okay, doctor?"
Sure. That's the only thing you care about.
"Yes. The baby is alright. Her haemoglobin level is less. How much exactly will be known when the results will come of the blood test. Make sure she eats enough Iron in the food." He explained.
Gareth nodded and the doctor took his leave.
"I told you to eat proper food", Diana scolded me as she sat beside me.
"I'll be fine. Don't worry, Diana." I smiled.
After assuring Diana, I was in my room or I should say Gareth's room as Diana asked me to rest.
I held the book I borrowed from Gareth in my hand trying to read it, sitting on the bed with my back against the headboard.
Till now, I couldn't even finish half of it though it is interesting. I wonder how people finish a six hundred page book in a day.
I folded the book from the middle so that I don't have to use both my hands to hold it.
Gareth didn't bother to knock on the door since it is his room before entering.

I looked up from the book to him and he frowned deeply.
"What the hell?!" He shrieks pointing to the book.
I was startled by his exclamation. "What?"
Still pointing to the book he gritted his teeth. "Why the fuck did you fold the book like that?"
I looked down at the book and then back at him. "What's wrong in it?"
"Hold it properly first!"
My hands understood his command faster than my brain and I closed the book while scowling at him.
"I told you not to ruin the book in anyway. Why don't you listen to me?" He raised his voice and I felt anger bubbling inside me.
I stood up and without comprehending my actions, I threw the book right at his face. "Keep your bloody book with you! I don't want it now."
The book smacked him on the face and fell on the floor with a thud.
Maybe I shouldn't have done that.
His jaw clenched and he bent down and picked up the book and examined it. His jaw clenching even more when saw a page torned a little at the corner.
He took in a deep breath placing the book carefully on the bed.
When he lifted his head and his eyes bore into mine, I was scared.
His eyes looked murderous.
He took a step towards me and I automatically took a step backward.
This continued until my back hit a door leading to a small store room or something.
He maintained a distance between us, still glaring at me. He didn't say a word.
My hands moved to the door searching for its knob and turning it, I opened the door and stepped back inside that store room trying to escape from him.
He stepped forward making me go further back into the room. And then his lips twisted into a slight smirk.
In a second, he went out of the room closing the door and locked it.
My eyes widened when I realised that he just locked me here and I banged on the door. "Gareth, open the door!"
Not a word from him, just the sound of his footsteps retreating away from the room.
He seriously locked me here? For what? For ruining his book?
He is fucking crazy!
I banged on the door a few more times but to no luck.
He will pay for this.
I looked around the dimly lit room noticing a few boxes lying around. There were stacks of A4 size papers in it, some were old and used too. Some files and a few more things.
Walking around the room I noticed something. A door. Not the one from which I entered but another door, infront of which a few boxes were stacked.
I removed the boxes and examined the door wondering where it leads to. I turned its handle and it opened.
He really sucks at locking people inside.
There's another door here that's unlocked for God's Sake. He would be a very bad kidnapper.
I opened the door fully and realised that it led to his study plus library.
I scoffed. I escaped within two minutes.
I walked to his desk, looking at the paper lying there. It was a design of a room. A nursery to be specific.
Is he an architect?
And someone please remind him that I am hardly a month pregnant. He is already designing the nursery.
I picked up the paper and placed it inside a drawer. It's too good to destroy.
And looking around the library, I smirked.
I am going to make him regret locking me in there.
.
.
.
Fifteen minutes later, I leaned against his desk facing the door with my arms folded.
He must have opened the door to the store room because I heard him calling for me. "Harper?"
And then the door opened to the study and he came through it, his eyes landing on me first.
I gave him a tight smile. "Hi."
His eyes swept around the room widening as he took in the condition of his study.
All his books removed from the shelves and scattered on the floor in a bad condition.
All the papers on his desk scattered too. Numerous amount of paper planes also lying on the floor and his desk.
His jaw clenched, palms folded into tight fists, eyes turning a shade darker with anger.
And to my surprise, his eyes teared up. He can't be crying for his books, right?
Maybe...this was not a good idea.
He closed his eyes and spoke in a voice cold and sharp enough to send a shiver down my spine. "Get out."
I flinched at his tone and opened my mouth to speak but he opened his eyes.
"Get out, Harper." He gritted his teeth trying not to kill me. "Now!"
So I ran from there not wanting to face his wrath.
I pissed him off. Terribly.

Needletongue, Carrotcake
The world isn't fair. If anything, the inherent injustice of the world is what separates it from the fiction we so adore. Luis Freighthold knew this all too well, and that was why it took a bit longer than it should have to realise when he suddenly had everything he could ever have wanted. Raised in a working-class single-father home, Luis had no other escape than fiction. Specifically, vampire stories of varying quality and genre. There was something appealing about the ability to fly, turn into shadows and become smoke. Danger. An unfamiliarity with the social world that rejected him so. Was it so wrong for him to hope for a different life? Maybe, maybe not. Either way, now he had it—a lust for blood and abilities beyond the understanding of civil man. Could you really say that he had anything left to complain about? A vampire story following an unconventional vampire boy forced to accept that maybe becoming a vampire doesn't magically solve all your problems. As a matter of fact, it might just make a whole bunch of them even worse. Regardless, Luis is prepared to try everything to live up to the vampire books he had previously gorged on. What did it matter that his vampire form had no teeth, replaced instead by a long, needle-tipped tongue? He was still a vampire, wasn't he? Chapters are around 10 A4 pages long, releasing once a week on Mondays, 01:00 CET.
