《Summoned the Devil for a Date》Chapter II - Lucifer

I skipped down the pavement and got into my car. This is great, all I have to do is find a cute guy and bring him to the wedding. We just have to pretend we're dating for like a week and he'll get a free vacation. Who will say no to that?
I pulled out my phone and scrolled through my contacts. I couldn't get any of my friends because Leslie knows all of them. She'll definitely think I'm faking it.
Maybe I'll get someone to introduce me or a guy off the streets would do.
(One week goes by)
I'm standing in the middle of my living room with no date and no vacation. How is every guy I've met either taken or unwilling?
The flight's in a few days and I had to get a date by tomorrow. I've tried asking almost everyone I know, I've tried asking strangers on the streets and I even tried a dating app or two. Nothing worked.
I started to pace around the room, too stressed to admire the view from my floor-to-ceiling window. What to do, what to do, what to do...
I scan my room in hopes of suddenly finding something that would solve my problem and a book came into my view.
Someone bought it for me as a joke a while back and I just left it on the shelf. It wasn't even open yet. I walked over and pulled it off the shelf before settling onto the sofa.
There was no title, the hard cover was just black with some white-outlined shapes and lines. If I remember it correctly, the bookstore said it was a summoning book.
I ripped the plastic off and flipped the book open. The first row of words read : To summon an angel. I mean, why not? My eyes travel down the page and the spell looks easy enough. Now all I have to do is read.
I try to the best of my ability to pronounce the few lines which were probably in Latin. When I was done, I sat there silently for a few seconds, actually waiting for something to happen.
Guess what? Nothing happened.
I must look delusional, I realised as Luna brushed her body against my leg. I flip through the pages, there were sections for angels, demons, and even the undead.
Luna jumps up on the sofa as I landed on a page that didn't have a single bit of English. My eyes trailed down and the spell seemed easy enough, it was short and the words were pronounceable.

Luna reached her paw over and gave the page a pet, looks like she wanted me to give it a try too. I read out the spell as Luna settled down and got some head rubs. When I was done, I gave the spell a few seconds as buffer time before turning to Luna.
"I guess it didn't work, huh? That's too bad then." I set the book aside and lifted Luna onto my lap. She turned to lie on her back, basically demanding for belly rubs.
"I don't have a date, so..." Luna let out a meow. "Bye bye free vacation." I sighed as she got up and jumped onto the floor. I guess I should give Leslie a call and tell her.
"You summoned me," A deep voice came from the corner of the room. I raised my head in that direction to see nothing, maybe I just heard wrong?
"To be your date?" The voice echoed through the house as a figure stepped out of the shadows. There is no way this was happening. My eyes widened as I let out a scream. This person was the literal definition of darkness.
My scream lasted only for a second. I shut my mouth and felt around my neck, I was screaming and talking but no sounds were coming out.
I took a deep breath and looked to the figure still standing in the corner. I could feel my heart throbbing in my chest as I pointed to my mouth. He must have taken my voice away, what other explanation was there?
"Don't scream."
I nodded frantically and he let out a sigh. With a wave of his hand, I got my voice back. I cleared my throat just to make sure but other than that, I stayed silent.
I quickly turned to the book I put aside, scanning the page again trying to understand what's happened. I didn't understand a single word so I turned back to him.
Luna seemed completely fine with this stranger standing in the corner though. "So, I summoned you?" I stuttered out a question which had an obvious answer. He nodded.
"And, you are...?" I asked again. I heard a sigh before he replied, "Lucifer." I pressed my lips together and stared at him. Lucifer, why does that ring a bell.

"Lucifer as in Lucifer Lucifer? Like, you're the devil?" The words slipped out of my mouth and I got another sigh.
With the snap of his fingers, a shadow big enough to be a door appeared by the windows. He's leaving. I gasp and immediately hop up, he's my last hope of getting that free vacation.
I moved over and grabbed his arm, or what I think is his arm. Since he appeared, I could only see the vague outline of his body which was covered in some black material and his eyes which were dark as night.
"Let go." He demanded, staring down at me. I stubbornly refused as I blurt out my request. "Be my date to my sister's wedding." I only tore my eyes away from his when I felt something crawl onto me.
I looked down to see the black material slowly wrap around my fingers then my hand. It's probably nothing. I turned back to him, I really need that date. "Please, I'll do anything in return."
All I'm asking for is a date, I don't think there's that big a price to pay.
Now the black material's made it halfway to my elbow, I reach for it and tried to brush it off. It only made things worse. My wrists were bounded together, like I was handcuffed, and he easily brushed my hand off.
He's leaving, I can't let him leave.
Quickly, I stepped between him and the doorway. "Please." I looked up at him pleadingly, not really knowing what else to do to make him stay. I'm pretty sure if he wanted to, he could send me flying out of the way.
He let out another sigh before snapping his fingers again causing the doorway to vanish. My eyes widened and a slight grin appeared, that's a step in the right direction.
I go back to the sofa and sat down. I tried to pull my wrists apart but the material just wouldn't budge. "Could you..." I trailed off as I looked up at him and reached my hands out.
He took a step over and placed his hand on mine. The black material slid off my hands and up his fingertips, merging together with the rest.
"Do you want to sit?" I asked as I rubbed my wrists. He didn't take the seat beside me but walked over to the armchair instead.
"When is the wedding?" He asked. Yes, right, the wedding. I grabbed the invitation off the table and passed it to him, this is what it was meant for.
"It's in about two weeks but we'll have to meet my sister tomorrow then fly to the Bahamas in a few days and spend the week there." I explained.
He put the piece of paper back onto the table. "I just have to be there for the wedding?" He asked. My lips pulled up into an awkward smile, it's not going to be that easy.
"Actually, I need you to be my boyfriend until the wedding is over."
Even though half his face was covered, I could still tell he wasn't very pleased. "I have to constantly be here for the rest of the two weeks?" I shrugged, "that would depend on how much my sister believes us."
He hummed. I'll take that as agreement. Now, we don't have a lot of time until tomorrow. "Can you turn into a human?" I asked, fully expecting him to be able to do so.
He shut his eyes for a second and when he opened them, his skin tone had lightened and his eyes had white in them. "Clothes?" The only thing on his body was the black material from earlier, acting as his clothes.
He shook his head. That's fine, I have a lot of spare clothes. I walked into my room and came back out with the biggest t-shirt and sweats I had.
He got up and put them on. When he was done, he turned to me. I narrowed my eyes slightly, "can you make this disappear?" I asked, reaching over to fan at the faint smoke-like material that was floating around him.
With a wave of his hand, they disappear. I took a step back and looked him up and down. He looked pretty good actually, except for the shabby clothes he had on. We should get some better ones for him.
"Let's go shopping."
