《Chasing the New Girl - (Complete)》Chapter 16

The trip to Chicago was two hours away and when they were almost there Austin asked Ryan to pull off to a gas station so he could run in and use the bathroom. That left Jolie out in the car with Ryan and she tried to distract herself from the awkward silence by looking at her phone.
"Jolie? I'm sorry about my comment earlier. I should've just kept that to myself."
Jolie looked over into his hazel eyes and asked "What did you mean by it?"
Ryan squirmed in his seat and cleared his throat before finally saying, "You can probably guess what I meant by it. I don't get everything I want because you were Austin's first and now I don't have a chance with you. If I had met you first though things might have been different."
"That's what I thought you meant. You're Austin's best friend and I really like him, a lot. So I'm not going to tell him what you just said because I know it would hurt him. Let's just pretend you didn't say it so things won't be awkward between us. Ok?"
"Ok. It's a deal," Ryan said with a pained smile. "Thank you for being so cool about it Jolie."
"Yeah, you're welcome," she said awkwardly before looking out the car window and just wishing Austin would come back already.
Pretty soon Austin came back out and they finished their drive to the indoor surf park. It was a huge place and when they walked in it took Jolie's breath away because the walls and ceiling had a mural so that it really looked like you were outside at an ocean beach. It felt like she had literally just stepped into California. Even the lighting made it feel like it was really lit up by the sun. There were two big wave pools with people lined up to take turns surfing on them.
Jolie split off from the boys to go to the girls locker room to change. She put on the orange bikini and looked in the mirror, impressed and surprised with how great it looked. Her hard work in the gym had definitely paid off.

She pulled her long blonde hair up into a ponytail before locking all of her stuff into a little locker. When she walked out into the water park, she looked around trying to find the guys and realized how huge this place really was. She made her way over to the surfing wave simulator and saw a familiar face in line but it wasn't the one she expected. There in line shirtless, with a surfboard in his hand was none other than Blaze McDaniels.
When Blaze looked over and noticed Jolie his eyes widened as he looked her up and down. He walked over and said "Damn Jolie! That bikini is fire! The husband better keep an eye on you before I snatch you up and run away with you."
Jolie's face blushed as she all of a sudden became self-conscious of how much skin she was showing, with Blaze's eyes burning a hole through her. It made her feel awkward and she realized that even though Blaze was cute, the only guy she wanted looking at her like that was Austin. She wasn't used to having male attention and she definitely wasn't used to showing this much skin.
"Thanks Blaze. What are you doing here?" she asked, trying to change the subject, crossing her arms over her chest to try to cover up some of her body.
"Ryan actually called and invited me. We both like to surf so when he comes here he usually lets me know."
"Oh. I didn't know you and Ryan were friends," she said, surprised.
"Yeah," he laughed. "I don't know that I'd really call us friends. We hang out now and then though." He took a step towards Jolie so that he was really close to her and looked down at her body in the tiny bikini and said in a low, deep voice, "So where is Austin anyway?"
She tightened her arms around her chest and felt a little uncomfortable, looking down at the ground.
"I'm right here," a deep voice said from behind her and she felt relief when she looked up and saw Austin standing next to her, draping a possessive arm across her shoulder.

She smiled up at him and said, "Hey you."
"Hey," he said, leaning down and giving her a soft kiss.
When she looked up she saw Blaze curl his lip up in disgust and roll his eyes as he turned back around.
Austin looked down at her and asked, "What are you trying to do to me Jolie? How am I supposed to concentrate on surfing with you walking around here looking like that?"
The look of lust in his eyes when he looked down at her made her insides tingle and she cuddled up against his side, wrapping her arms around his waist. She looked down and noticed her arms were touching his bare waist and she couldn't help but eye his six pack and feel a little flustered about touching him there. His body was perfect and looked like it was sculpted from a Greek god. She still couldn't believe that Austin liked her.
Austin pulled her against him and whispered, "Maybe we can get back early enough to still have some fun tonight since we got interrupted earlier."
Jolie's face flushed red just thinking about it and she whispered, "I hope so."
They finally made it up to the counter and checked out two surfboards. Then he led her over to the side area where there weren't any people and laid the two surfboards on the floor and then Austin demonstrated how to lay down on it and paddle and then hop up onto your feet with one leg bent in front and your arms to the side. Jolie imitated him.
"Hey you two! Are you gonna surf or just stand around here all day?" It was Ryan's voice.
"We're coming!" Austin called.
They grabbed up their surfboards and got in line for the surfing wave machine with Blaze and Ryan. She thought it was kind of awkward to be standing around all these good looking guys with their shirts off wearing this tiny little bikini, knowing that they all liked her. The fact that all three of these guys liked her still felt unreal, like she was living someone else's life.
She held Austin's hand in line and when he leaned against the rail she stood in front of him and leaned up against him, laying her head on his bare chest, and wrapping her arms around his waist.
When they got up to the front of the line Jolie shocked them all again when she said, "I want to go first!" She was actually really excited to try surfing after watching the other people go in front of her. It looked like so much fun.
She told the person controlling the waves that she was a beginner so they set the wave height lower. She grabbed the board and headed out to the pool.
The guys stood and watched in shock as she was able to actually get to her feet and ride the wave for a while.
"Wow! I must be a better surf teacher than I thought! She stood up on her first try," Austin laughed as he watched Jolie surf.
Ryan asked, "Yeah. So .......... are you guys getting serious?"
"Yeah. You might think I'm crazy. I know I haven't known her that long but I actually think I'm falling for this girl. She's pretty special," he said smiling.
"Seriously?" Ryan asked, raising his eyebrow.
"Yes seriously," Austin laughed, slapping him in the chest. "Why?"
"Man, don't get me wrong. She's great and all but you're the star quarterback of the football team. It's your Senior year and your last chance to have some real fun before you have to get serious and play college ball, and who knows, you might even make it into the NFL. You know you two aren't going to stay together after you go off to college so why waste your time with it? Why waste your last year of real freedom with one chick when you could be living it up? Every hot chick in our school and all the surrounding schools want you. You're Austin Mother F*cking Fox man. You're a legend. Why throw away that once in a lifetime opportunity by tying yourself down to one girl right now?"
