《The Star Goddess (Watty's 2018)》Chapter Six

After we finished looking around this enormous house, we got back in the car and started driving back to the group home. The drive back seemed quicker than the drive to. I cannot wait to finally move in. I was really curious about the conversation that Cole was having, but as I overheard, I knew he would tell me soon. So I just decided to push those thoughts to the back of my mind and sing with Cole. The Sound Of Silence by Disturbed came on and I sang along to the soft music.
"Hello, darkness my old friend. I've come to talk with you again. Because a vision softly creeping left its seeds while I was sleeping. And the vision that was planted in my brain still remains, within the sound of silence," I sang along gently, trying to sing it right, not just screwing around. Cole looked at me with wide eyes
"What? Do I have something on my face?" I asked as I turned down the radio.
"No. Stella... you have one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard," Cole whispered in complete awe.
"Eh. I'm ok. Nothing too special. I usually sing the younger kids to sleep or any new kids," I shrug as I explain where I got my voice from.
"That's a noble thing to do but don't ever think that you're not special. Not just your voice either. All of you is truly magnificent," Cole said, maintaining eye contact with me.
I shot my eyes downward and hummed in response. Cole drove silently for the rest of the trip. As the group home came into view, I shrunk down in my seat and Cole giggles at me.
"The week will go by fast. I promise," Cole said as he grabbed my hand. I laced my fingers through with his, relishing in the feeling of holding a father's hand.

We stepped out of the car as Ms. Jean and Tara came outside. Tara looked so happy when she saw me and her face melted when she saw Cole. Like seriously, goals for my relationship when I get one. Tara rushed over to Cole who caught her as she jumped lightly. I giggled softly at their cuteness.
"How long have you two been together?" I asked.
"We fell in love when we were eighteen and got married at twenty one," Tara answered with a loving smile.
Wow, I thought to myself. They were thirty-eight now so that's twenty years together and they were still so in love. It was so beautiful I didn't even realized I had started to cry.
"Oh, sweetie. What's wrong?" Tara asked as she moved to hug me.
"No. Nothing's wrong. It's just you guys are so beautiful together it made me cry," I laughed as I scrubbed my face free of tears. Tara joined me in giggling while Cole just some over and ruffled my hair as a father would.
Soon enough, the time came to say goodbye. Tara hugged me and grabbed my hands.
"I can't wait until Friday. I wish you could just move in now!" Tara whined. I giggled as I hugged her one more time.
Cole was next. He came in for a nice, warm hug. I buried my face in his chest and wrapped my arms around his back as he placed on hand on my head and one hand on the space between my shoulder blades. I felt like I had gotten closer to him since spending more time with him even though Tara was very easy to get along with. Also, I've only ever known a father's love. So having a mother will be a new experience. Cole pulled away and continued to pet my hair.

"We'll come visit you. I promise, sweet pea." He kissed my forehead and turned to his wife. "We should get going, baby."
Tara just nodded and let Cole guide her to the car. They both turned and waved at me before getting in the car and leaving. Ms. Jean stepped up next to me and hugged me.
"I'm so happy for you, sweetheart. I can't believe you're leaving me though. Who's gonna sing my babies to sleep? I have a terrible voice," she joked. I laughed.
"I'll come back and visit. I promise. Besides, how could I leave all of my foster brothers and sisters?" I promised.
