《My Vampire Ex》Mile High

I felt my body being jolted jump and down. My eyes fluttered open. It took them a few blinks to adjust to their new, dim surroundings. I was...on a plane? I glanced around but found no other passengers. I was alone on a plane. Where's Finn? Or Tanner? Or anybody....
Judging by the accommodating amount of space in between the seats and the gold accents throughout the walls I was on a private jet. My hands were locked into place on either arm rest and my legs were tied to the seat. A shiny metal bracket now adorned my left wrist. It was just a plain band with a heart shaped keyhole in the center. Where had that come from? Duct tape was placed tightly over my mouth. I moved my neck from side to side. It cracked and I groaned. My position when I was sleeping really made it sore.
"Oh, you're finally awake." An unfamiliar female voice came from behind me. I tried to turn to see my alleged captor but couldn't. Luckily, she took a seat across from me, directly facing me so I was able to get a good look at her.
Her black curls spiraled down her head and stopped just past her chin. She was dressed in a black tank top, a corduroy jacket and black pants with matching combat boots. Golden jewelry decorated her neck, ears, wrists and fingers. Her dark complexion made it pop and each piece looked so unique as if it was all hand made. I guessed she was in her early thirties. My eyes traveled down to her sides where a gun was securely holstered on one side and I knife was on the other. Why the hell did she have those?! I shrank back in my seat. She must have taken notice of my reaction because she chuckled. "It's okay. I'm not going to hurt you."

I tried to think back to the last thing I remembered happening. We had gone to Tanner's to return me to him. Christopher drank from me. Then Zach came and injected me with something. He told me I needed to sleep and it would help me. That was the last thing I remember. How had I ended up here with this stranger?
She reached over and ripped the tape off of my mouth. It stung for a few but I didn't care. I was just happy to be able to move my lips. "I'm Monique, Jared's witch friend."
A wave of fear traveled its way down my spine. She was with Jared. That means something awful happened while I was asleep. I decided to remain silent. No amount of burning questions were enough for me to trust anyone who spent their time willingly with Jared. I will never trust her. I will never like her.
Monique studied me carefully. "You must have so many questions. Fortunately, Jared sent a video for you to watch. Hopefully it will explain things." She held up an iPad for me to see and pressed play.
Jared was sitting on the plane next to an unconscious me. He held up his phone so I could see his face with me in the background. "I'm going to make this quick. Tanner and Finnigan will realize you are gone soon. I don't think he told you, but Finnigan went behind Tanner's back and bought you from Chris. You were a dumb bitch like you always are and blabbed to Finn about our past so he got all annoying and sentimental because you're valuable to the family and I'm too dangerous. Long story short, because of your dumb ass Tanner's heart is broken and he is now probably pissed at me. This is where Monique and the plane comes in. As you watch this you are on your way to an auction house Australia. There, you will be picked up by a buyer I found just for you. He will remind you a lot of me and keep you in line until things get sorted out here. Or who knows, maybe you'll stay down there until you die. Either way, it'll be a happy end for me. Have fun." He shot the camera a wicked smile before the video stopped.

My heart dropped. Finnigan was going to save me. He promised he would never let them hurt me again and he was actually trying to keep his promise. But wait, focus Jess. Jared said I was going literally around the world to an auction house, those were worse than boarding houses. On top of it all, Jared sold me to someone he knows. What if he's just like him? I wouldn't last a week.
Monique set the iPad on the seat next to her. "He really hates you, doesn't he?"
I glanced up at her and nodded. "Why are you friends with him? How are you friends with him?" I blurted. I had to know. There was no rational reason to be friends with Jared unless you were actually Satan. I've asked Tanner the same question many times too but still have yet to understand why.
"We aren't really friends per say," she began. She got up and walked behind me again. I heard the sound of ice and then liquid hitting class. "If anything, it's more of a business relationship. I do small favors here and there for him and in return he makes sure I'm protected by the McClain family." Monique came back with two glasses. One was filled with clear liquid and the second was filled with what I assumed was whiskey. I hope to God one of those is for me. I feel like I haven't had a drink in years. She reached over and undid the straps holding down my arms. "I'll let you undo your legs. Jared insisted you be tied down but I seriously doubt you will jump out of the plane. Here's some water, I hope my affiliation with Jared doesn't make you indifferent towards me. This isn't anything personal Jessica, I honestly have no idea who you are besides what Jared has told me."
I raised my eyebrows at her. She was sweet, but I still didn't trust her. The water glided down my throat so smoothly I had to hold back a groan of delight. "Thank you. You didn't have to do that, but thank you."
Monique nodded, "of course. Feel free to move around and drink whatever you'd like. We have about two more hours before we land."
