"Nah angel you lyin'. Spit? Like out ha' mouth spit?" Nassir asked incredulously, leaning on the counter and looking at her crazily.
"Yesss! She could've thrown a drink on me, I mean I still would've fought ha' but Spit? Na' I gotta fight ha' every time I see ha' " She shook her head, still can't believe that happened.
She had never been spit on before a fight and that made her feel so nasty. It made her feel like she has a disease or something. She thought someone spitting on you was the most disrespectful thing that could do.
"Then she was callin' me a blacky like she isn't black herself." She shook her head again. Cameron honestly had enough control to walk away but Rebecca calling her a blacky brought her back to her childhood when she used to get bullied for her skin.
Cameron hated it, it took her a while to get comfortable in her own skin, and even now she wasn't because people still wanted to put people down for it. Cameron used to tell my parents how she wanted to be a lighter complexion just so they could leave her alone until she started beating their asses.
She thought people would grow up and understand black is black but no. Some Light skin girls always thought they were better than Cam because they were lighter. Cam couldn't lie and say she didn't think the same thing, especially with men in the world putting darker women down.
Her dad and brothers always told her how beautiful she was growing up but the negativity of others always clouded that judgment.
Nassir shook his head "At ha' big ol' age? " He asked, leaning off the counter and going over to the stove.
"Right! Den you should've heard how she was talkin' to Sekani. She was goin' in on him fa' nothin' den he was jus' takin' it so I stepped in" She shook her head. She didn't understand why Sekani was just letting her talk to him like that. She wouldn't have been knocked her out.
Nassir chuckled while finishing her plate "You kno' he's nice as fuck. Sometimes, hell not even sometimes, all da' time when it comes ta' women he lets dem run over him because he jus' dat respectful" He said.
"Dats not right. He's sweet and doesn't deserve dat" She frowned, and he put the plate of Spaghetti in front of her "Thank you" She smiled then got up from the stool to go in the refrigerator.
"It's not but he has always been like dat. It's neva' gon' change either" Nassir sat his plate behind her while she poured their cups of strawberry lemonade.
"You okay daddy? You seem off today?" She asked after they said a prayer and began eating. When she came over, he didn't seem like his cheering self but she knew it was because her mom's birthday is coming up in two weeks. She was trying to stay okay for her brothers and dad because she knew they needed her.
Nassir nodded and cleared his throat. "I went to see yo' mom today. Dey do my baby so wrong not cleanin' ha' up. I try ta' clean ha' up every week" He chuckled sadly, looking down at his food.
She leaned over, putting her head on his shoulder. Like everyone else, the passing of her mother hurt but it broke her dad into pieces. He's not the same after losing the love of his life, his other half. Her parents were the definition of soulmates in her eyes. Had been dating since 6th grade, and never broke up. Loved each other unconditionally. They showed her the definition of black love. She used to catch them randomly slow dancing in the kitchen at times.

"I miss her too" She mumbled, staring into space as memories of her mom dancing in the kitchen, laughing, and playing started to flood her memories.

"Lex.... why don't you jus' break up wit' dat man" Cameron frowned, looking at her best friend in confusion as they sat in her living room.
Lex shook her head "I'on wanna hurt him. He begged me da' otha' day not ta' break up wit' him when I did" She took a sip of her wine. Crystal busting out laughing "I'm sorry what?!" She asked.
"Guhh yes! Cus it's like he tried ta' get on me cus we was fightin' at da' club. Talm 'bout sum, it wasn't ladylike. Like nigga shut da' fuck up cus if my best friend gettin' fuckin' jumped, of course, I'm gon' jump in da' fuc" Lex ranted. Cameron just shook her head.
"Niggas stay wanna preach 'bout bein' ladylike. Nigga stay in a li' boys place da' fuc." Crystal scoffed.
"Exactly jus' cus dey nigga gettin' jumped and dey ain' gon step doesn't mean I ain' gon' step 'bout mine" Lex rolled her eyes, pour some more out the Stella rose preach in her cup.
"So why you wit' him? I'm still confused 'bout dat?" Cameron asked.
"Becauseeee he dead ass was 'bout ta' start cryin' when I told him I wanted ta' end it. I felt bad" Lex sighed.
"Not you let him manipulate you. Fuck his feelins. Give my li' bro a chance" Crystal smirked while drinking out her cup.
Lex rolled her eyes and shook her head "Bitch YOU go be a cougar cause I ain' " She smarted.
Cameron laughed "It's only 4 years. You never kno' " She shrugged.
"Then yalllll go do it cus I ain'. You have ta' be 21 and up ta' ride dis ride" She flipped her hair over her shoulders "Yall wouldn't even date sumone younger den yall so why y'all want me to?" She questioned, looking in between the both of them.
"If sumone was applying pressure like Syn does fa' you? I would. It's all 'bout dey mindset and Syn always acted older and mature den his age." Crystal pointed out, and Cameron nodded in agreement.
She always applauded mama Lena and Mr. Santana for how well they raised Sekani and Karsyn. They were very respectful and really loving. If someone ever said that either one of them did something out of line to a woman, she wouldn't believe it because it's not their character at all.
"But 4 years?" Lex straight-faced them.
"And? It's not even 4 years for real. At most it's 3" Cameron reasoned with her.
"Besides you gotta younger nigga ready ta' go ta' war fa' ya' and an older nigga tellin' you ta' be ladylike when defendin' yo' best friend" Crystal shrugged.
"Ding! Ding! Ding!" Cameron said, Lex just shook her head not listening to them. Cameron picked up her phone when she felt it vibrate.
Cammy stop blocking me🤦🏽♂️
I'm just tryna make sure you're good. I know it's that time of the year.
Cameron hesitated at first before blocking the new number Seth made. "I needa' change my number" She mumbled, putting the phone down and trying not to get emotional.
She had been doing her best trying to get over this breakup but he wasn't making it easy by texting her out of the blue. Some days she would just cry because she badly wanted to text him but didn't. It hurt badly and she was trying every day to pick herself up and fix the broken piece.

"Why? What happened?" Lex asked after she heard her.
She held her head down "Umm... S-Seth has been textin' lately'' She said "But! I don't text back! I swear" She said quickly, not wanting to see or hear them disappointed in her.
"I wouldn't blame you if you did text back," Crystal said, standing up and going to sit next to her on the couch. "Right, y'all were together for years, it takes a while to really get over it" Lex added, standing up for her spot and going to sit on the other side of her.
"I'm okay guys" She lied, not wanting to bring their mood down just because hers is now down. They both hugged her "You're not and it's okay. It's just us, no judgment here" Lex assured her.
"I-I want to text him back sometimes" Her voice cracked. She really hated herself for getting an emotional dependency on him. She felt hopeless at times. It didn't make it any better that her mom's birthday was coming up and every year he had been there for her. The times she would look at her old ultrasound pictures and wish she could text him and he would tell her everything was gonna be alright.
She hated how bad she missed someone that didn't have her best interest at heart. Someone that purposely hurt her.
"But you don't. And we are sooo proud of you for puttin' yourself first. You deserve so much more den what he gave you peanut. It's aight ta' be hurt, miss him fa' a minute, reminisce 'bout him but you gotta get up and keep goin' on wit' life. You gonna find someone and be like 'damn, dis is what I deserve' you gonna find someone that see who you are inside and out" Crystal spoke, wiping her tears away.
Cameron didn't believe the part about finding someone else. She couldn't give babies and nobody wants a woman that can't give that. She knew love didn't exist anymore for her because of whatever she has going on with herself.
"Walkin' away from somethin' you wanted so bad is always hard never easy. It's okay ta' feel depressed, it's okay ta' cry. Your human, just don't let it keep you down too long, don't let someone like him keep you down fa' too long" Lex hugged her and squeezed a little.
"Thank y'all" She mumbled. She couldn't help but think, what if she couldn't pick herself up anymore.

Wednesday
"Love you too Ma" Sekani said before hanging up the phone and then getting out of his car. He yawned, grabbing his gym bag from the backseat before closing and locking the doors.
He slightly dragged his feet towards the elevator, beyond tired. He's been up since 6 AM, going to practice and filming a commercial with Nike and Gatorade. He was just ready to take a nice shower and get in his bed.
Once getting to the elevator, he pressed the up button. He waited for a few, pulling his phone out to check it. He instantly rolled his eyes seeing Rebecca blowing his phone up. He could wait until these DNA test results come back so she could be out of his life for good.
She has been doing nothing but causing him trouble in his life. Throwing shots at him on Instagram and Twitter. Trying to ruin his reputation by saying he's being a deadbeat and how he let someone put their hands on her knowing she is pregnant.
It was a mess and Sekani was drained from it all. A lot of people were bashing him to the point he just deleted Instagram and Twitter. He didn't know why people were bashing him when they knew he was not a bad person but they were outsiders looking in and eating up anything someone put out on the media.
Luckily, his new agent Pete had a plan for him after the test results came out. It's supposed to save his name and it's also something Sekani has been waiting to do for a while so he was excited.
He stepped on the elevator, about to press the 10th floor. "Wait! Hol it please" He heard a familiar soft voice. He put his arm out quickly so the doors wouldn't close then Cameron came jogging inside, out of breath.
"Thank you" She breathed out, putting the grocery bags down that she had in her hands. She looked up and slightly smiled "Hi Sekani. I knew I saw yo' car" She said as he hit their floor button.
He just nodded. Sekani has been trying to keep his distance from her for the last few days. He couldn't help but blame himself for her getting spit on.
He thought maybe if he tried to lessen being around her then she wouldn't get dragged into the drama that Becca is causing. He also didn't want to drag her because she fought Becca while she was pregnant.
"You okay?" She asked looking concerned. He nodded and the bell rang indicating they were on their floor. He picked up most of her groceries before stepping off.
"Oh, you don't have ta' do dat. I got em' " She assured him but he kept walking down the hall to her apartment. He put his gym bag at his door before waiting for her to punch in the key code to her door.
She walked in first, holding the door for him. "Why yo' alarm not on?" He asked as he walked into her kitchen and placed the grocery bags on her island.
"I turned it off wit' my phone when I got hea' " She replied, turning the lights on in the kitchen. He nodded, about to walk out "You sure you okay?" She asked.
He chuckled "I'm straight fats" He slightly smiled.
"Okayyy jus' gotta make sure ya' know. Don't let those weird people on da' internet get to you," She said as she was putting the groceries up. "You already eaten? I'm about ta' cook dinner if you want some" She told him before he could fully walk out of the kitchen.
"Whatchu' cookin'?" He asked, feeling his stomach growling at the mention of food.
"Nashville chicken tenders with curly fries" She shrugged. He nodded, he didn't have any else to do nor did he know what he was going to eat after dinner.
"I'll be back after I take a shower," He said.
She smiled "Aww we can have a movie night too" She chessed.
He looked at her funnily, "Na' you doin' too much." He shook his head, walking out.
