《Heaven Warrior》thirty seven

"Daloni you're staying here, I will be right back." Heaven groaned, trying to leave out the door. She was about to go get Solana and pick up a few more things, but of course Daloni wouldn't let her leave.
Daloni had stayed up the whole night prior so it was obvious he was just sleepy, and wanted to be near Heaven. Heaven tried to put him to sleep but as soon as he heard the door open, he woke up and ran to Heaven.
"Mommy, me too." Daloni cried, holding on to Heaven's legs.
Jayda, Anthony and Zylin had already arrived for Solana's small little party, and they agreed to stay and make sure the food arrived and the cake.
"Papa please baby, I have to go." Heaven groaned, looking at the time on her apple watch. Solana was getting discharge in five minutes and she lived thirty minutes out of Chicago, so it would take her some time to get to the city.
"Tired." He whined.
Heaven sighed lightly and picked him up walking to the garage. She opened the backseat and buckled him in, making sure to give him his cup of milk. Once he was secure she jogged to the driver's side, got in, and started the car so that she could leave.
Daloni's cries got lighter lighter while he drunk from his cup and played with his curls. Heaven looked in the rearview mirror catching Daloni look at her, making her chuckle. "Who spoiled you?"
She went to the baby lullaby playlist on apple music and allowed for each tune to softly play throughout the car. It would put Daloni to sleep quicker, which would make her job easier.
"Damn I forgot the liquor." She cursed. She wasn't drinking tonight, but she knew Jayda and everyone else was. She had already ordered the bottles, she just needed to pick them up.
After talking to herself about how the rest of her day was gonna go, she turned the music up a little louder and entered the freeway to get to Chicago.
~
Heaven had just arrived at the mental rehab. She was currently getting a sleeping Daloni out of the backseat along with her purse. Surprisingly he didn't wake up, that's how she knew he would be sleep for a while.
She closed the doors and popped the alarm on. Solana had been discharged over thirty minutes ago, and Heaven was a little upset that she was late.
After signing her name and going through all security measures, Heaven was escorted to the checkout room to sign off on all of Solana's medications. Solana had to have an adult or guardian over the age of twenty-one manage her medications until further notice.
"If you could just sign all of these forms confirming that you will be the holder for all of her prescriptions. I also need to see your identification and get your fingerprint."
"Yes ma'am. Is it a certain time that I'm supposed to give her the medicine?" Heaven replied.
"She usually gets the depression medicine after breakfast. Under no circumstances is she allowed to have more than one. The sleeping medicine is only given as needed, she usually tells us when she needs it. The other medicines are given around noon, as long as she takes them all before the day is over."

Heaven nodded her head, making sure to keep up with every word the lady was telling her. She put her finger in the ink and held it in the scanner until it beeped.
"Her psychiatrist has her scheduled for two appointments every week. You and Solana can arrange what days work best with you schedule and then give her a call."
"Okay. Is there anything else that you think of? I want to know everything." Heaven said, signing every piece of paper.
"If you see signs of attempted suicide, do not hesitate to call us. Never approach her with false assurance. For example don't tell her that everything is going to be okay, because in the moment she doesn't think that. There's a pamphlet siting all of the do's and dont's. We recommend not leaving her at home alone for at least a month just to see how she's adjusting."
"Okay. What's your name?" Heaven asked, sliding the papers under the window.
"Ms. Patty." The lady replied, sliding all of Solana's prescriptions under the window.
"Thank you Ms. Patty." Heaven smiled.
"Of course, I'll inform the back that you're here and she's going to come out of that brown door." The lady smiled.
Heaven nodded and sat down in a chair to adjust Daloni on her other shoulder. He wasn't really heavy, but he always slept weird, so sometimes it would make her arms feel uncomfortable.
Around five minutes later Heaven heard a buzz sound come from the brown door, making her look up from Daloni. She quickly stood to her feet when she saw Solana come from behind.
Solana came out with the biggest smile on her face. They had gave her a pair of khaki joggers along with a hoodie to leave out in. As usual her hair was in feed-in braids that she had did the night prior.
Solana ran to Heaven immediately, dropping her bag of things, engaging in the biggest hug she had ever given. "I did it." She whispered, feeling the tears escape her eyes.
Heaven hugged Solana back as much as she could while holding Daloni. "I told you that you could Solana." She replied, also feeling the emotions hit her.
"Can we go home now?" Solana chuckled, pulling away wiping at her eyes.
"We sure can." Heaven smiled.
"Wait, we have to get a picture." Ms. Patty stopped them, coming from behind her desk.
The girls chuckled and walked back towards the lady's desk, posing in front of the polaroid camera. "1...2...3!"
"I'm finally free!" Solana yelled as the camera clicked and flash, flashed their eyes.
All of the ladies chuckled while waiting for the picture to print out. Ms. Patty always made everyone who was released take a picture. It was a end to pain, and beginning to happiness.
After getting the picture, the girls exited through the side door and walked around the building to get back to the car. "I am starving." Solana exaggerated.
Heaven laughed, unlocking the doors and quickly putting Daloni back in his booster seat. She was so excited that Solana was happy and free from her past life.
"Well there's a lot of food waiting at home." Heaven stated, closing Daloni's door. After making her way into her seat, she started the car and drove out of the parking lot.

"Good because I'm too skinny, I need to get thick like you." Solana giggled.
"Now Zylin just told me I'm getting skinny, somebody lying." Heaven frowned.
"Heaven your butt is bigger and your hips spreaded a little." Solana stated.
"Period. That's all I needed to hear." Heaven smirked, pressing the gas a little harder to get home. She would just send Zylin to pick up the things she needed.
~
"I'm Jayda, Heaven's best friend." Jayda introduced herself, with a small wave. She didn't know how Solana would react to a hug or handshake.
"I'm her boyfriend for life." Anthony stated, pointing to Jayda.
"Boy no you not." Jayda retorted.
"Uh, I'm Zy—I know you, Heaven talks about you all the time." Solana interrupted him.
"Okay boo, let's move along." Heaven chuckled, before Solana said anything else.
"What she be saying?" Zylin asked with a small grin. He knew Heaven missed him....so he thought.
"That you're a butthole. Well she said the curse word version." Solana shrugged.
Zylin's mouth dropped while Jayda and Anthony laughed at his facial expression. Heaven smirked, knowing that she had burst his bubbles.
"You already met Daloni and Nevaeh, but that's Angel Jayda and Anthony's daughter." Heaven stated, pointing at the kids.
"You gone be my friend?" Nevaeh asked, in her usual stance, arms crossed and weight on one leg.
"Yeah sure." Solana nodded, with a small smile. She was already prepared for Nevaeh's big personality.
"Can you be my friend too?" Angel asked, smiling with her two front teeth missing.
"Yeah, I'll be your friend too." Solana nodded.
Everyone looked at Daloni who stared at Solana with a plain-straight face. They were waiting for him to engage with her, but wasn't suprised when he rolled his eyes, clinging to Heaven's legs.
"Watch he gone be in your face later." Nevaeh shook her head, waving her little brother off.
"Okay so Solana you can fix your plate first, then kids, then adults. Sound good?" Heaven spoke, picking Daloni up.
"Sounds great." Solana replied, in a hushed voice. She was a little nervous being around the adults, but she tried to act normal.
Solana was the first to fix her plate, and when she was done it was piled high with every food option that was on the table. Heaven chuckled, shaking her head.
"She was serious about that food."
~
"SoSo you wanna play barbies with me and Angel?" Nevaeh asked, shoving the hairless dolls in Solana's face.
The little Welcome Home Party was going very good. It was chill vibes, and everyone welcomed Solana with open arms. Solana followed Heaven everywhere, mainly because she was nervous of everyone.
"No trucks soso!" Daloni yelled, trying to show Solana the truck that Heaven swore she wasn't going to buy him.
"Can y'all both back away from her face?" Heaven frowned.
Jayda and Anthony chuckled at the way both kids stepped away from Solana, mugging each other. Nevaeh and Daloni wanted Solana to themselves, ignoring everything that Heaven had told them the day before.
"Uh, I can play with both." Solana said.
"No!" Daloni mugged, walking away from Solana. He didn't want to share. Instead he went to the playhouse that Heaven had gotten the kids and started playing by himself.
"Yo Heaven, li man spoiled as hell." Anthony laughed.
"I don't spoil him." Heaven chuckled, waving Anthony off. She always heard people say how much she spoiled Daloni and Nevaeh, but she just couldn't see it.
"Babe you really do." Jayda said.
"Jayda you spoil Angel." Heaven pointed out. Anything Angel asked for Jayda always got it for her without a question. Jayda spoiled Angel, because Angel never gave her any problems.
"You sure damn do." Anthony mentioned. "Angel ask me to buy her the li pop-it shits. I'll tell her no, next thing you know Amazon knocking on the door with a whole box full of em."
"Heaven do the same shit. I tell the kids no, here her sensitive ass telling them yes." Zylin frowned.
"Honestly I discipline them more than you do." Heaven shrugged, eating from her second plate.
"Whatever." Zylin waved off.
"I'm just gonna go to the bathroom." Solana stated, standing up and brushing her clothes off. When she arrived at home, Heaven had gave Solana a couple jogging suits until she took her shopping.
"Okay." Heaven nodded. She didn't know whether to follow Solana or not, so she stayed put. Heaven wanted to start trusting Solana, but she didn't know where to start.
Solana disappeared into the house, heading to the bathroom that was connected to her room.
"Guys am I supposed to follow her?" Heaven asked.
"I was thinking that, what all you have in the bathroom?" Jayda replied.
"Nothing but washcloths and soap. I don't even use razors so I don't really buy them." Heaven said. Heaven got everything waxed, so she never really bought razors.
"Just go in the house and pretend you're doing something. Watch her, but also give her space. You wanna be cautious, but not too overbearing." Jayda explained.
"Okay, I'll be back." Heaven mumbled.
Meanwhile Solana was in the bathroom staring at her reflection in the mirror. She already used the bathroom, but while she was washing her hands she got a glimpse of her overall appearance.
"Okay Solana, you can do this." She told herself, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath.
When she exhaled she opened her eyes, looking at her reflection again. "I am beautiful. I am smart. I am strong. I am a black woman. I am somebody. I am a queen." She repeated to herself.

Valor and Violence
Valor and Violence is a series of short stories following different, yet all equally colourful, characters set in the same world. Birth of a Legend, the first short, follows Captain Erskine Erwell, a newly promoted Captain in the Calandorian Royal Navy, charged with protecting his people from all who would do them harm. Great news for the Calandorian citizens, bad news for the Skjar reavers that ravage the shores in search of slaves. But when a small reaver fleet slips the net and escapes to the southern jungles of Marduk, Erwell must fight a war on two fronts; one against the raiders, and a far more difficult war against the hostile landscape. If he can't find allies in this strange land, he may end up being the one in need of saving. The first part of the second short story will be uploaded on Saturday, the 11th of June, following Ferez Ahud, an aspiring young battlemage charged with the unsavoury job of 'terminating' a rogue member of his college. But how this nobody of a mage became a fugitive remains a mystery, and when the answer is discovered, the tables are turned and the hunter becomes the prey. I'll be uploading chapters of more in-universe short stories each week or as close to, work permitting. Content Guidelines: course language and violence
