"And that's another touchdown for the Vikings, making the score 20 to 6 now. Trojans lagging behind 14 points." The announcer said.
Blu squinted her eyes a little as she tried watching the game. Her glasses broke and her mom was getting her new ones. Who would've thought she would end up sleeping on them. But, it was her fault since she stayed up late doing homework. She look back at the crowd seeing they were frustrated.
It was mainly the fathers yelling at Apollo for his stupid plays. They were wondering why he did the same blitz play since the second quarter started. He didn't switch anything up and the opposing team was catching on. Not only that, but Jahseh wasn't playing.
She look back over seeing Jahseh sitting on the bench. He haven't touched the field since the game started. She didn't know why and she wasn't going to ask since she didn't want to disturb him. The last thing she want to do is make him even more anger by talking to him.
"Aye, Coach! You running the same damn plays, get the shit together!" A parent shouted making Blu chuckled a little, but she hid it. She knew this was a serious moment, so her laughing would've made things quite worse.
"Aye number one, Smith!" Another parent shouted, Jahseh turning around to face him. "Why you not playing?"
Jahseh shrugged his shoulders, not answering. He turned back around and slouched down a little on the bench. He knew exactly why he wasn't playing and it was all because he went to see his mom.
Flashback
Jahseh sat on the edge of his bed, his face in his hands. His leg shaking uncontrollably, the vivid images of his brother getting shot playing in his head repeatedly. He was emotional, so he started crying. His brother was gone and his mom refused to get better.
His dad was constantly picking on him about the littlest thing and Jahseh was over it. It was like he couldn't do anything right in his father eyes and it was upsetting him. He was still a child, he was struggling and didn't have anyone here to here.
He just wanted his brother back.
He wanted things to go back to normal.
That night was a very stressful night for him. Him and his dad got into an argument about him seeing his mom. Jahseh was so pissed off, he took his anger out the only way he knew how. He punched walls, tore his room upside down all while his dad banged on his lock door.
And because of that, Jahseh was sitting on the bench watching his team fall apart. Watching every pass that was thrown to Conner, the ball slipping right through his fingertips. He knew everyone was getting pissed off about his dad and he didn't blame them.
It is what it is though. The referee blew his whistle and it was halftime. Jahseh got off the bench and walked off the field, the rest of his team following behind him. He walked back in the school going in the locker room. Jahseh took off his shoulder pads then sat down. Some of his teammates upset and mumbling to themselves.

"Apollo, fucking shit up for us." His teammate, Bryson, angrily stated.
"Honestly, yo what the fuck is up with your dad?" Another player, Jevon, asked Jahseh.
"He's being an dick simple." Jahseh answered, nonchalant. As much as he should care about his own team, he didn't. His dad was costing them and he had nothing to do with it.
"He got Conner in the fucking game and haven't caught not no damn ball." Bryson continued, slamming his locker shut.
"Y'all talking about me like I'm not here." Conner remarked, Bryson mugged him.
"Nigga, shut the fuck up. You costing us the game with your no catching having ass." Bryson retorted, completely pissed off. He was more mad than the others simply because scouts from Penn State was here with his family.
They were looking to give him a full scholarship to their school. But, he feared because of this one fuck up, that dream was going to go downhill for him.
And all because of Apollo.
"So, y'all rather have me out there or Jahseh who have fucking anger issues and gets mad every time some shit don't go his way?" Conner asked, smartly.
"Conner, I will punch the shit out you until you turn black and blue. And that's a promise." Jahseh told him, still in a nonchalant tone. Conner waved him off not bothering to argue with him. Mainly because he knew he wouldn't win.
Apollo walked in the locker room and the team all gave him different looks.
"What's with the long faces? We have two quarters left, we're not out the game yet." He told them, looking around.
"Coach, your messing us up. I have scouts out here watching me." Bryson told him.
"Me too." Jevon added. The rest of the team chiming in as well. Jahseh slouch down a little, crossing his arms.
He didn't have scouts out here watching him, at least that's what he assumed. He didn't know and he was getting to the point where he didn't care. He didn't even see a future for himself, so he wasn't expecting anything.
"So, what's the issue? Just because we're trailing behind doesn't mean anything. And scouts come and go, your going to win and lose games. Y'all need to suck it up." Apollo told them.
Some of the boys all look over at Jahseh wanting him to step in. They all knew if they needed someone to tell Apollo off, it was going to be Jahseh. The father and son went at it all the damn time, so they were hoping he would be their lifesaver.
Jahseh mentally roll his eyes, "Dad-"
"Coach." Apollo cut him off, correcting him.
Jahseh sigh, "Coach, you running the same plays back and back, that is a big deal. You fucking everyone up by having Conner in the game and he can't catch. If you stopped with the same play and put me in the game, then we would be the ones with twenty points already. Stop doing the same play and put me in the game and we'll win." Jahseh told him, saying what everyone was thinking.

"Jahseh, I'm not playing." Apollo told him, ignoring everything else that he said.
"And why not?" Jahseh asked, now getting slightly mad.
"You already know why. You want to be grown then you don't play and that's simple. Your team can survive without you, your not the star player. David is since he's the quarterback." Apollo said. Jahseh look over at David then chuckled to himself.
"So, you not playing me?" He asked his dad again.
"No, I'm not."
"Cool." Jahseh got up, opening his locker and taking his bag out. He grabbed all his things getting ready to leave. He found no point in being here if he wasn't going to play. And it wasn't like he messing up his future, so he was fine.
"Y'all have a good game." He said before walking out the locker room and back outside.
He walked towards the bleachers as the band played on the field. Seeing Blu, he walked over to her and sat down next to her. She look up from her phone at him.
"Aren't you suppose-"
"He's not playing me, so I left. Not about to waste my time." He cut her off, already knowing what she was about to ask.
She stare at him then nodded her head. "Well, alrighty then. How come he's not playing you?" She asked, putting her phone away.
"Cause he's acting like a bitch and suck dick for a living." Jahseh answered, Blu raising her brow at him.
"I'm playing about the sucking dick part, but he is acting like a bitch though." He cleared up for her, Blu nodded her head not knowing how to answer. Jahseh nonchalantness was quite something.
The two sat there listening to the band that was now coming back in the bleachers. The football team finally came back out and Jahseh shook his head a little. Looking over at Blu, he seen her squinted her eyes and he seen she wasn't wearing her glasses.
"Blu, where's your glasses?" He asked her, but she didn't answer.
"Blu." He called her again, but she still didn't answer. He smack his lips, grabbing her chin and turned her head to face him.
"What?" She asked.
"Glasses? Where are they?" He asked, letting her go.
"They broke." She answered, still straining her eyes.
"How they break and stop straining your eyes." He repeated, pinching her thigh. She smack his hand and he mugged her.
"I'm trying to look at the score and I slept on them by an accident. I'm getting new ones though." She told him and he nodded his head.
"Well, in the mean time stop straining your damn eyes and wear contacts maybe." He told her, she flipped him off then put her attention on the players.
She seen that David kept glancing at her, she tried not to be awkward about the whole thing, so she gave him a smile. He gave her a small back, still tossing the ball back and forth. Blu look away, looking over and seeing Jahseh looking at her.
"What?" She asked and he shook his head.
"Nothing." He answered, facing forward.
"I don't like him and there's nothing going on between us." She told him and he nodded his head.
"Cool." He answered, nonchalant.
"So, don't think we're something." She continued, not wanting him to think anything was going on. David was cute to her, but wasn't her type at all. She also didn't know why she was trying to prove to Jahseh at the moment, but she was.
"Not my business, Blu."
"Yeah, but-"
"Not my business."
"Aye, Blu!"
Blu turned around seeing David jogging over to her. He approached her and she gave him a tight lip smile.
"Hey." She greeted him, looking around.
"I see you don't have your glasses on. You look better with them on really." He told her, bluntly and Blu scrunched up her face.
"Excuse me?" She asked, laughing her anger away.
"You look better with your glasses on, so put them back on." He told her and she continued laughing.
"Yeah, no. Anyway, what do you need?" She asked, getting slightly pissed at his comment.
"I came over here because I seen you and Jahseh were sitting next to each other. Y'all have a thing going on or something?" He asked, Blu mentally rolling her eyes.
"No, we're friends, I think." She muttered the last part to herself.
"Good, cause he's not the type of guy you should be talking to you." He told her.
"This nigga not serious." Blu thought to herself, hiding her thoughts with a small smile.
"Anyway, homecoming to next week. Are you going?" He changed the subject.
"Yeah, are you?" She asked, looking around again. She was waiting for her mom and was hoping she would come and save her.
"Of course, I'm a football player, so I gotta go. I have to show out for my school." He popped his fake collar, laughing.
"Right, okay." Blu trailed off. She look back and seen her mom car pulling up.
"Well, I gotta go." She was about to walk away, but David grabbed her arm.
"I don't want you hanging around Jahseh, okay?" He asked her.
Blu roll her eyes, snatching her arm from him then walked to her moms car. She got in, shutting the door.
"Why do men?" She asked her mom and Crystal shook her head.
"I don't know blueberry, I don't."

In The Maw Of The Gods
Synopsis Lilly Harper was always the type to keep to herself. She struggled to make friendships and so, she simply opted not to. That was why moving to the coastal town of Wilham didn’t bother her. She wasn’t leaving anybody behind and she certainly didn’t expect to be making any friends any time soon. However, when she starts hearing about the school’s “Magic Club”—a group of weirdos who claim that magic is real, she can’t deny that she’s slightly intrigued. Then without warning, she suddenly finds herself wrapped up with them. And what if they aren’t crazy? What if magic is actually real? And what if it’s because of that magic that something more powerful than they could ever conceive of is drawn to Wilham? I plan to follow a release schedule of Tuesday/Friday. Average chapter length will be 4,000 to 6,000 words and I will be using multiple POV's quite often. Also to note, while I am flagging the story with content warnings, I am only doing so because there are specific moments where it will be needed. Overall, the story will be relatively tame and I plan to put extra warnings at the beginning of chapters that it applies to. Thank you to everybody who decides to give my story a chance and I hope you enjoy it!
