"Gym is packed than usual. Something must be going on." Coach David muttered as she chewed on her fingers.
Blu look at her weirdly as she walk past her basketball coach. She shook her head then look around the gym that had a few people in it. A lot of students were here because teachers made it a test grade if they came to the game. They would get an automatic one hundred if they came and students took advantage of that.
Seeing Angel sitting down, Blu slid next to her. "Hey, boo." She greeted her and Angel have her a smile.
"Hello, it's packed in here." Angel said as they both look around the gym together.
"Yeah, but we know why they're here. A hundred percent test grade in Mr. Mills class." Blu remarked and they both started laughing.
"No seriously, easy test grade." Angel added. Her face quickly dropped when she seen him walk in the gym.
"Kill me now." She muttered causing Blu to look over at her.
"What's wrong?" Blu asked seeing the frustrated look on her friend face.
Angel let out a sigh, "You see that man sitting in the bleachers?" She asked, Blu giving her a stale face.
"Girl, there's many men in the bleachers. Mainly boys not men." Blu answered, Angel such her teeth.
"No, I mean the dark skin guy over there." Angel said pointing, Blu looking where her finger was.
"Okay, what about him?" Blu questioned while the of them stare at the man.
"That's my lousy dad." Angel answered, Blu eyes widened.
"Really?"
Angel nodded her head, "Yup, I asked him to come to my first game. He shows up and does what he usually does, flirt with women." Angel stated watching her father talk to the mothers that sat near him.
She bite the inside of her lip watching the man she called her father flirting. He had came to see her, not meet women.
"Are you okay..." she trailed off seeing Angel had gotten up.
"Well alrighty then." She mumbled. She kept looking around as more people came in. Her face lit up when she seen Jahseh walking in.
She quickly got up and ran over to him. "Hi, baby." she exclaimed, smiling hard. Jahseh smile kissing her on the lips.
"Hey mamas. You ready?" He asked her as they started walking where her parents were sitting.
"Nervous? Yes. Ready? No." She answered and he chuckled.
"You thinking too much bout it baby. You'll do good." He told her, her cheeks got hot from her blushing. They finally reached her parents who sat at the end of the bleachers.

"Why you over here?" Shane asked her and she smack her lips.
"I came to say hi, relax. Anyway, mom this is Jahseh, you guys haven't met yet." She introduced the two.
"Well, hello. I'm Crystal, nice to meet you love. Y'all dating?" She asked pointing between the two.
"Yes, we are and we'll talk about this later, so let's not." Blu said already knowing her dad was about to say something. Shane hummed a little in response.
The referee blew his whistle, signaling that it was time to start. Blu heart started beating fast since this was finally it, the moment she had been waiting for. Before she walked off, Jahseh grabbed her hand.
"Relax." He told her in a calming voice. She nodded her head taking his word of advice then walked out to the court.
"Alright ladies, let's have a good game. Trojans your scoring here, Diamonds your scoring here. Are you slides ready?" The ref asked the ten girls on the court.
Blu ignored his question, looking at the big girls on the other team. She was getting slightly discouraged because of how tall some of them were. She shut her eyes for a second, inhaling deeply. Hearing the whistle being blown, she opened her eyes and was ready.
It was her first game and she was ready.
Screaming and yelling was hearing in the gym on both home and visitor side. The yelling was quite distracting to some of the girls expect for Blu who wasn't paying attention at all. She was more focused on the court, refusing to take her eyes off it. Despite the yelling, she tuned it out and listened to her own thoughts that were running wild.
"This little girl bumped into me again and imma knock her head off her shoulders." Angel muttered as she walk past Blu causing her to chuckle.
"Let's win the game first then fight ole girl, I'm sure they'll be mad after losing." Blu told her looking up at the scoreboard. There were only a few seconds left on the clock and they were losing by two points.
A simple three pointer would win them the game and that's all they wanted. That's all Blu wanted.
Once the timeout was done, Blu walked back out to the court going to the opposite side of the court. It was their ball and Angel was going to throw it in. The red blew the whistle resuming the game then started counting. Angel held the ball needing to get rid of it, but many diamonds block her view. Finally seeing Blu, she tossed the ball across court.

The basketball found its way perfectly in Blu hands. As everyone started jogging down to the other side of the court. She dribbled the ball, her attention landing on the clock that was now at five seconds. The crowd continued shouting wanting her to make a three. The time continued winding down, Blu took a step back and releasing the ball from her hands.
Just like a movie, all the noise completely drowned out and everything went into slow motion. Everyone was watching the ball, hoping and praying it went in the basket. The buzzer went off, the ball going right in the basketball. Everything went back to normal, the crowd shouting in excitement. The girls quickly ran over to Blu, hugging her tightly.
They had won their first game of the season and they were happy.
"Yessss!" Angel exclaimed, hugging Blu tightly and rocking side to side.
"I'm surprised you was actually able to do that." Another one of her teammate stated. Blu raise her brow not saying anything. She shook her head, holding Angel hand as they head over to the other team.
They slap their hands then went in the locker room. Everyone started heading out the gymnasium, Jahseh, Crystal and Shane staying behind.
"Blu gotta work on her dribbling. Her ball handle is weak." Shane spoke, Crystal roll her eyes.
"Boy, ya ball handle is weak and ya pull out game." Crystal muttered to herself, Shane smack his lips hearing her. Crystal chuckled then look over at Jahseh. She seen a frown on his face and was curious what was wrong.
"You okay, sweetie?" She asked him, Jahseh looking up from his phone and at her.
"Uhh, yeah, I'm good." He answered soon as his phone started ringing. He got up, walking off and answering the call. Blu hurried out the locker room and to her parents.
"Did y'all see that? Ya girl made the winning three pointer." Blu exclaimed to them, smiling hard.
"Yes, we did. You did good baby." Crystal told her, giving her a hug. Blu look around for Jahseh until she seen him coming back over. Her smile soon dropped the moment she seen him frowning.
"Babe, what's wrong?" She asked him.
"I-I gotta go to the hospital."
Hurrying in the hospital, Jahseh look around for his family. He seen his aunt sitting down and he rushed over to her.
"Auntie." He spoke causing her head to shoot up. He seen her eyes were red and tears were rolling down her cheeks. Jayla wipe her tears, standing to her feet quickly.
"Auntie, what's wrong?" He asked her, Jayla continued wiping her tears trying to calm herself down.
"Jahseh, lemme talk to you outside." She told him, pushing him gently. He moved her hands off him, staring at her.
"Can y'all tell me what's going on? Why am I here? Where's my sister?" Jahseh asked her, impatiently.
Jayla let out a small sigh, "Jahseh, Miracle...Miracle suffered a traumatic brain injury." She finally told him, Jahseh staring at her with a confused look on his face.
"What?" He asked her, stunned. Tears started rolling down Jayla cheeks again and she built up the courage to tell her nephew the news.
"H-How?" Jahseh asked, his voice scratchy a little. "How?" he asked again.
"Your dad and Kelly were arguing in the car and he drove past a red light and a truck crashed into them. They were hit hard, your dad is paralyzed and Miracle ended up hitting her head hard. She's in a coma and the doctors not sure if she'll wake up." Jayla explained to her nephew.
"So, my sister might not wake up?" He asked, Jayla stare at her nephew seeing his eyes watering. A single tear fell down his cheek and he didn't even notice.
"I'm so sorry." was all she said, reaching out to touch him, but he moved her hand.
"I-" his voice cracked, causing him to pause his sentence.
"Your telling me, my little sister is going to die?" He questioned, his voice raising a little and tears cascading down his cheeks.
Jayla sniffled, still crying herself. "There's a possibility, Jahseh, that she won't make it." She answered him truthfully.
Jahseh stared at her, his heart shattering at her response. He bite down on his lip then ended up taking a seat. His leg started shaking while he tap thumbs together. He was trying his hardest not to break down in tears, but he couldn't hold it in. He lower his head and started crying, Jayla hurrying to him.
She bent down, wrapping her arms around him as he cried on her shoulder.
"It's going to be okay." She told him, rubbing his back. His cries got louder making Jayla emotional again.
He didn't want to be the only one.

The Laptop Hero (Portal/Isekai LitRPG)
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] - April 2022 Silas got summoned to another world—by a group of kids attending magic school who seemed rather unhappy with the results of their ritual. After a brief glimpse of his summoners Silas woke in the town dump. Unable to speak the local language, a misunderstanding escalated and before long Silas wound up in a jail cell, the locals having confiscated all his worldly possessions aside from his laptop, which had formed some strange bond with him. Now he can summon his laptop at will, and he can view his Status, level up, and gain powerful skills and magic as if he were some character in a video game, which is great and everything, but all Silas really wants to do is sit in a dark room and play games on his laptop. Only, life isn't a game, and Silas needs to get his act together because everyone else is playing for keeps. Or does he? Maybe for Silas life is just one big game now, with everyone else stuck playing by his rules. Assorted Disclaimers, in no particular order: I am only posting this on RoyalRoad.com, so if you find my story elsewhere it was not posted by me. Please do let me know! While I do consider this a progression fantasy, and have tagged it as such, Silas's Status improvements will not necessarily proceed in a linear fashion. His RPG stats will have ups and downs, exploits and nerfs, periods of growth and stagnation. Such is the life of a gamer, to be held under the thumb of the all powerful devs, or in this case a certain goddess devoted to the idea of Balance. SIlas himself should learn and grow, improving and progressing in areas where he struggles, or rather, to show such is my goal. The story is told from multiple points of view. While other PoVs will come and go, Silas shall remain the only lead character. The world Silas finds himself on is not a nice place. Expect him to encounter gore and traumatizing content and bad people who do bad things for selfish (or possibly noble) reasons from time to time. Some characters will use profanity, however due to cultural differences the curse words used will differ from those used in our corner of reality, so I'm not including the profanity content warning. Silas himself isn't one for foul language. No explicit sexual content here. This novel is intended for mature readers, however, and will include mature topics, including, but not limited to, sex, violence, death, and taxes. No harem. Might be an eventual romantic interest, possibly even some competitive jealousy, yet as his story begins Silas is too overwhelmed with other concerns to consider long term plans. Musophobics might want to steer clear of this story. Same goes for turophobics. You have been warned. Keep in mind, however, if my other disclaimers didn't make this clear, I only have the faintest of outlines at the moment. This story will take me where it will. My goal with this story is to write it to the end, something of a long-term writing exercise, with the hope others might take an interest in my work and encourage me to keep at it. I've started a number of works before, even finished a few, but this is the first time I've shared any work in a public forum. My temporary cover was made by me, in GIMP using public domain images. If you can do better I'll happily accept your submission and give credit for your work here!
