"Family dinners? Are we going to do it every night?" Kennedi asked as she and Sarayah helped Ailani with pulling the wings out of the bag.

"No but as much as we can. Some days your daddy won't be off of work in time for family dinners but that's okay" Lani said, getting plastic plates from the cabinet.

"But Matt isn't here yet," Rayah said, using the step stool to get 4 plastic cups from the closet.

Before Lani could say something, as on que the sound of the garage door open sounded. "Daddy!" Kennedi squealed, running out of the kitchen. Lani chuckled at her excitement and Rayah ran out of the kitchen too.

They were acting like they didn't see him this morning. Lani put the cups and plates out of the table as Matthias walked into the kitchen holding both Rayah and Ken's hands.

Her smile dropped a little seeing the look on his face. He was smiling but she could see the annoyance written all over his face. She has gotten better at reading his face and body language to know the difference. Sometimes he had this mean look on his face but it was just his face.

"Everything okay?" She whispered to only him and she could hear when he walked over to peck her lips. He nodded "I'll tell you later" He pecked her lips again.

"Okay" She said.

"I'm going change first, I'll be back" He let both of the girls hands go before walking out the kitchen. "Y'all go wash up too"

"I swea' on my daughter, I'll beat shorty ass. I ain' neva' talk 'bout hittin' a woman but she fasho got me fucked up. Mothafuckers be takin' this nice shit fa' granted." Matthias ranted as Ailani was massaging his shoulders while sitting behind him on the couch in their shared office.

She was trying to calm him down a little bit but she didn't know if it was working. She never heard him this upset before, but she was just as upset with him but was trying to be there for him more than showing it.

Once again, Annika was disrespecting their relationship but she went too far this time. She ambushed Matthias in his office and tried to kiss him after he was repeatedly telling her to leave. She had no business being at his office or even his building since he dropped her mother as a client.

He immediately called security after trying to ask nicely for her to leave. When she tried to kiss him, he lost his home training and he shoved her off him.

"We ain' neva' did no shit either fa' ha' ta' be acting like this either. I took shorty on a date, hell it was barely that. I took shorty ta' a fuckin' sushi bar, not even a fancy one. She acted like we were in a whole relationship and in love. The conversation wasn't that damn go fa' ha' to be actin' like this bro" He vented, Lani, wrapped her legs around his lower body, stopped massaging his shoulder, and put her head on his back to rub his chest.

"Get a restraining order bubba," She said softly.

He nodded "I am but it won't feel right until I slap the bitch first," He said.

Lani started chuckling "Hard like a pimp named slick back?" She asked, he busted out laughing "Hell yeah" He laughed making her smile that he was laughing.

He grabbed her hand and kissed the back of it "I'm sorry I didn't pick the girls up today. I know it was my day" He apologized.

She waved him off "Don't worry about it. I think I should be the one to pick them up more since you've been working more lately" She said. They had a system where Jabari took the girls to school in the morning and Lani or Matt picked them up for daycare later.

But Matthias has been taking on more work and also had to let a few people go but was in the process of hiring more. Since he had to take on more, he worked a little over the time that he usually works.

"Aight. Once I hire these people and get everything into order, I'ma get back onto my stuff" He said, looking over his shoulder to look at her.

"It's fine bubba. I'm just picking them up" She shrugged. She didn't see a problem with it, granted she did want him home a little more but he was busy and she didn't want to nag him about the same thing over and over especially when she sees he was trying his best.

"It's not. You cook and get dinner and allat. I don't want you to feel like you're doing everything by yourself" He tapped her leg for her to move them from around her lower body. She did and he got up, sat on the side of her, and pulled her onto his lap.

"I don't think I'm doing it alone yet," She said, playing with his beard. He nodded "And Ima fix it before you do," He said. Lani couldn't help but smile.

"Gon' head and spill the tea for today " He chuckled, leaning back on the sofa and putting his arms out. This was them every night, both of them always had some type of tea to spill. Especially Ailani behind the lady that everyone spills their business to.

But everyone's business was safe with her and her man. They never told anyone it was always just between them.

"So remember Romeo?" She started, he nodded "Yeah the one still messing wit' his babymomma and got a girlfriend"

"Right, tell me why the girlfriend found him and his babymomma in HER car the other day," She said. His jaw dropped "In the girlfriend's car?!" He asked.

"Yess. She said how she and babymomma started fighting and stuff but my thing is why? Like why fight the girl that doesn't owe you any loyalty instead of fighting the person that does owe you loyalty?" She shook her head.

He nodded agreeing "True but it's like damn you still messed with him and knew she was in the picture. But she still should've got on him too"

"Yeah but then again it's like you messing with a man that has 3 kids with his babymomma and they all within 1 year apart"

"Damn they were busy, 1 year?" He asked, and she agreed. She didn't know if she could have kids back to back like that. She at least would want her first child to be in school first before even thinking about having another one.

"But she stayed because she's pregnant and said she didn't want their baby to grow up in a broken home like his first 3 kids" She rolled her eyes.

"What? She shady, she didn't have to bring them, kids, up" He shook his head.

"Exactly acting like those babies still aren't going to grow up in a broken home because their daddy is still cheating on their momma with his first baby momma" She said.

"Right with her messy ass," He chuckled.

"But hell he cheating on both with another girl"

"Well I'll be damned, another one?" He jerked his head back some.

"Yess, lemme tell you how trifling he is. Why did his ass book them all to get wax at the SAME time back to back!"

Matthias's jaw dropped to the ground "City boys up 1000" He started laughing.

"Nah cause then this is the one that takes the cake, ALL of their asses are 3 months pregnant!"

"GOT DAMNIT!" He was cracking up and Lani was laughing with him. She was so shocked at work earlier. She has seen some trifling shit but that was the one.

"Hi, granny!" Ailani smiled at Lisa once she opened the door. "Hey, lani pooh!" Lisa smiled and hugged her tightly. She hasn't seen her granny in a few weeks because she had been traveling but today Lisa was free and Lani thought it would be a good idea for her to meet Matthias and Kennedi.

"I missed you," Lisa said and They rocked side to side. From the ages 6 and up, Lisa was all Lani knew. It's just been them two since her grandfather passed away years before Lani was even thought of. Even though they still talked every single day, it was still a little dramatic when they saw each other without seeing each other in a while.

"Where is Rayah?" Lisa asked and smiled down at Kennedi who was hiding a little behind Lani's legs. She was a little nervous to meet Lisa because she thought she wasn't going to like her.

"Sleep, like always" Lani chuckled and pointed behind her to Matthias who was holding a sleeping Rayah. Lani didn't feel like waking her once they got there because Rayah was really grumpy this morning.

"Oh! come in so you can put her down." Lisa chuckled, letting them inside. Lani walked in first while holding Kennedi's hand before telling Matthias he could lay Rayah on the couch that she always sleeps on when they're over.

"So you're the young man that has my baby smilin' more than usual and who she just can't get enough of talkin' about you" Lisa sat in her chair facing Lani who had Kennedi in her lap and Matthias sitting next to her.

"Granny" Lani chuckled and shook her head.

"What?! I was just sayin' " Lisa put her hands up in defense.

"I would hope so" Matthias chuckled, looking over at Lani, she just blushed because he really has.

"Finally got pooh out her hard shell" Lisa chuckled, Lani just shook her head. She didn't think her shell was that hard. She has just been fuck men until Matthias showed her different.

"And who is this pretty girl?" Lisa smiled at Kennedi. Kennedi looked at Lani who nodded her head that it was okay.

"I'm Kennedi, but everyone calls me Mami" She smiled.

"Well hello Kennedi, you're so beautiful. Why does everyone call you Mami?" She asked.

"Thank you and he says I'm bossy but I don't think so right Lani?" Ken looked up at Lani. She nodded agreeing with her "She just knows what she wants when she wants it" Lani shrugged.

"I know they stress you and your pockets out" Lisa laughed and looked at Matthias who just had this stressed look on his face.

"Yes, ma'am living with a bunch of spoiled girls. Just wait for my other one to get up" He chuckled, and Lani furrowed her eyebrows.

"I'm not spoiled" She scrunched up her face.

"Now lani, even I know that's not true" Lisa gave her that look.

"I'm not. It's not my fault he wants to buy me things all the time. I don't ask for it but he gets me whatever I want" She shrugged.

"Spoiled" Lisa and Matthias said and she sucked her teeth.

"You know, you look very familiar. I just can't put my finger on it" Lisa said as Matthias was helping her with cleaning the kitchen.

He chuckled while rinsing the dishes "I recently found out my dad, Adonis Wood is the one that found you when Ailani was little" He said, drying the plate off.

Lisa started looking around before snapping her finger "Yes! That's who you look like, it's been on the tip of my tongue all evening" She smiled. Matthias couldn't get over how strong Ailani's family genes were.

Her smile and angelic voice remind him so much of Ailani. Ms.Lisa also looked very young for her to be in her late 60s. Black truly didn't crack.

"How are he and your moms?" She asked, taking the plate from him after he dried the plates and handed them to her.

"You know about that?" He asked.

She nodded "I didn't know about poly relationships until he told me. We used to talk all the time when he would check up on Pooh to see how she was doin' and adjustin'. He used to always talk about you and your mothers." She explained.

"But tell him when I see him, Ima give him an old fashioned beatin' for not comin' ta' see us anymore" She warned, he laughed and put the drying cloth away.

"I'll make sure to tell him the next time I see him" He laughed.

"I really appreciate you for gettin' Pooh out there. I haven't ever seen her have that sprinkle in her eye since Rayah was born. You really bring out a different side of her."

Matthias smiled, thinking of his girlfriend "I plan to keep it that way too. She and Rayah" He said sincerely.

"I hope so, I would hate to beat yo' ass like Bari."

His jaw dropped "Ms. Lisa" He chuckled.

"I'm jus' sayin'. I keeps it real and that's my other child but he did my Pooh so wrong. I hadn't seen her so sad since her brother and dad passed away"

Matthias furrowed a little "It was that bad?" He asked. He and Ailani never really talked about her and Jabari's breakup. He just knew it was bad.

"Yes, she was so lost and pregnant. She cried almost every night for the rest of her pregnancy." She shook her head, Matthias felt bad. He understood a little more why Lani was so closed off at first.

"She gives you a hard time sometimes? Like with her emotions and how she just goes mute sometimes?" She asked.

Matthias thought Ailani only did that with him but he could see otherwise "Sometimes but we're working on it" He replied, nodding.

"I love that. You said we instead of making her do it alone. A lot of people don't see that some people don't need to fix things about themselves alone." She said, he nodded agreeing with her.

Matthias always saw relationships as partnerships whether it was small things that one lacks or big. But never felt like someone should fix small things alone in a relationship, it always was about compromising.

"You love her?" She asked.

"Yes, ma'am I do. I wanna marry her, make her my wife. Give her the life and love she deserves." He expressed things about his girlfriend. Outside of his daughters, Ailani was his whole heart and he wanted to have her as his heart forever.

Nothing temporary but forever because he sees nothing but forever when it comes to her.

"Stand on that and do it. I'on know if you need it but I give you my blessing" Lisa smiled.

He smiled back at her "I did, Thank you for giving it to me"
