《The Empress' Son》CHAPTER SIXTEEN

It's the day that everyone has awaited. And mostly, me and Klydeur.
We both woke up around 10 AM and I didn't expect the presents we both received.
"Nanny, this is.."
Klydeur and I stared widely at the thing before us.
Jamie and the other maids smiled widely. "Since his highness has turned 6, it is now legal for you two to have a companion." Inside a golden box was a little fox and a baby wolf.
"Aww~" Klydeur and I both cooed at the cute pets before us.
"Klyde likes that wolf!" Before he can reach out to it, Eldest already blocked his hand.
"Remember: They are companions, not a pet," with a grimace, she turned her head to me. "And you two won't be the one to choose."
My forehead creased in confusion. "If not us, then who?"
Eldest jerked her thumb towards the two little companions. "Them."
Klydeur blinked his eyes for a moment. "Is that possible?"
Ashley, whose been beside him, can only chuckle. "That's how it works, your highness."
I just stared at the two animals infront of us. They were sniffing us and staring straight in our eyes. The fox stood up and jumped towards Klydeur, and luckily, he managed to catch it.
"He's so cute!" Klydeur squealed, and the maids also squealed at his cuteness. Ashley just grinned at him.
Jamie smiled as she looked at me. "Now the wolf is your companion, your highness."
I looked at the baby wolf and it stared at me. Stretching out my hand, it backed away. "That wolf is quite shy." Eldest commented. I sighed as I stared at the wolf who slowly approached my hand.
"So soft." I commented when the Wolf finally decided to let me touch him. And so, I carried him in my arms and smiled. "He's just like Kuro."
"Happy 6th Birthday your highness!" All the maids greeted in unison.
Klydeur and I both smiled widely. "Thank you!"

"Here's a present for the both of you." Ashley snapped her fingers and there revealed two books infront of us. "It may look like a book, but it is a memory tome."
Both of us gawked at it as we accepted it. "Thanks." I said with a smile.
Klydeur smiled widely. "Thank you, Ashy!"
This two seems to be really close, huh?
Eldest scratched the back of her head. "I don't think this is much but..." as she waved her hand, a gust of wind blew around us as I felt something strange near my ear. "It might be better to have these for a while."
There, a piece of earring is left hanging on my right ear. While Klydeur's is hanging on his left ear. "What are these?" I asked in confusion.
"Magic items," Eldest replied. "It has a load of mana stored in it. I'll be teaching you two how to use it."
Klydeur and I both stared at her. Eldest just blinked her eyes due to our reaction. "What? You don't like it? Okay then, hand it to me-"
"Waaaah!" We both jumped to hug her before looking at her in the eyes. "You'll really teach us!?" She stared at us as if she can't buffer the scene yet. But I maintained my wide smile. "Thank you!"
"This is also the best gift I ever had!" Klydeur commented.
She closed her eyes and sighed. "As I said, I'll teach you two. Now let go and let me breath-"
That didn't let us. We just excitedly squealed and Klydeur can't stop fantasizing how we will be able to use magic.
Jamie and the other maids chuckled at the sight before them. Ashley almost struggled not to laugh at the scene infront of her. While Eldest can't do much but just give us an I-will-kill-you-two-later look.
So far, this is also the best birthday I've ever had.
Even without our mother in here...
I don't know that time can also be faster than the speed of light. My life spent here is still thesame. During playtime, Eldest would devote herself in teaching us how to use magic... or so it seems.

"Klydeur, focus!"
To be honest, I did great. But my twin here is a bit.. frail in doing so.
In short: He doesn't look capable of using magic at all.
Those days were the days of torture. If that was how hard it is to use magic, then I salute Eldest for being able to withstand it.
Months passed and Aureus was still thesame. She would visit us once in a while, but it was awkward for me. She didn't really come to our birthday and it should be not a big deal, but somehow, I still hoped that she'll come that day.
It seems like Klydeur is the only one whose comfortable around the Empress, and so I'm left behind again. While Ashley stucked around them as if she's part of the family.
I slumped over my desk and heaved out a sigh. "What a day."
"Bored?" Eldest asked, whose leaning on the wall beside my desk with her arms crossed. "You look like you're ready to die."
"Absolutely." I mumbled.
Eldest sighed. "Wanna go somewhere?"
I tilted my head up, confusion evident on my face. "To where?"
She then straightened her posture and grinned. "Somewhere." Snapping her fingers, the surroundings changed and there I saw myself standing infront of some female kids whose having a picnic under a tree.
They stopped with their petty conversation and stared at me. Just then, I realized..
"Where are we?!" I hissed, looking towards Eldest. I blinked my eyes when I saw her outfit changed. It turned into somewhat elegant, to describe, like a princess' dress.
She held her chin as she eyed me from head to shoes. "You look perfectly fine too. Let's go." Pulling my wrist, she pulled me towards the girls who seems to faint.
"Oh my! Is he the crown prince?"
"Katy can say that he is just for Katy!"
"He's handsome!"
"I'm about to faint."
Hearing those words, I almost scoffed as I glanced towards Eldest. Is this it? Really? Great.
"Greetings, ladies." Eldest bowed down with her hand on her chest. "Its been a while hasn't it? As promised, I brought the crown prince with me."
"Oh my! It is an honor Lady Athalia!"
Wait, what? Lady Athalia? I gave her a confused look in which she replied with a sly grin. Nudging me by the elbow, she whispered. "Greet them."
"Why would I?" I whispered back, but she just glared at me. "Fine." Looking towards the girls, they almost flinched as my eyes landed on them.
I heaved out a deep breath, before smiling at them. "Greetings ladies. It is an honor to be in here." Bowing down, I hear them whispered enthusiastically at each others.
"He's so handsome!"
"My, my, he's gonna be my husband."
"No, mine!"
I straightened my posture as I heard them mumbling things here and there. Eldest just crossed her arms with an annoyed expression. "Don't you think it is unnecessary to fantasize your life with the prince as we speak?"
"A-apologies." The girls said in unison as they took away their attention from their dolls and instead, took interest in staring at me.
Oh boy, look at you. A 6 year old charming prince already have the charms to make these little girls fall for you at such a young age.
Such good genes.
As we sat down with them, they started chatting like what normal kids do. I'm quite thankful since I'm not the only guy around. There is a boy who came after us and he is also a good looker.
His hair which is platinum blonde and his eyes are the same color of gold. I glanced towards Eldest whose smiling at the girls whose having a conversation with her. At that time, I thought, that her smile was a bit odd.
Her gold eyes are also similar to the boy's eyes.
