《Kidnapped (Book 1)》Detective Robbins
Advertisement
The Colorado Police arrived at the abandoned house to find Officer Ross shot in the head, dead of impact. Blood splattered all over the ground and there looked to be tire tracks leaving the scene near his body. Detective Robbins was now the leader on the case. Ross had been pretty close to Robbins and she was heartbroken by his dead corpse. Robbins wondered where Matt was. Had Kyle taken him as a hostage or was he inside? Kyle was close to Robbins also, they even went on a few dates before all of this. She was very surprised by him being to kidnapper and killer. He had just killed at least one officer and maybe another one inside. It's crazy to think about how much time she spent with Kyle and at any point, he could have killed her.
Next to Ross' body was the corpses of the two tracking dogs that Matt and Ross had brought with them. Their necks were slit, most likely by a knife. Blood puddled around the dogs and the stench of the blood filled the air. There was too much death here. This is what she hated most about her job, all the death involved in it.
She walked up to the house and walked in the house. If it wasn't day time, she wouldn't have seen in the house since it was blocked by tall trees. Robbins aimed her gun up just in case Kyle was still there. She had other men surround the house and some to come in with her. She kicked open the door and walked in, checking every corner. As she walked further in, she reached the living room where she saw the body.
"Got another one! Check the rest of the house and get a forensic and morgue team in here!" Robbins shouted.
Matt's body was tied to a chair with duct tape but it was weird that his mouth wasn't covered. Once she saw Matt's dead body, tears filled her eyes. Matt was one of her best friends and seeing the bullet hole in his head, sickened her. Robbins knew she couldn't cry because she was on duty. Kyle could still be in the house, she had to stay on point, despite her best friend being dead. She decided to check his pulse in a slim hope that the bullet wound hadn't killed him. She was wrong. He hadn't been dead long since his skin was still warm to the touch. She must have just missed them.
"All clear!" Men throughout the house yelled.
Kyle was gone and was probably leaving the state because Matt had found him. Blood covered the white walls surrounding Matt and this would take awhile to process and collect evidence. Just another crime scene to add to Kyle's profile. When she caught him, he would pay for every death that he caused.
"We need to get some more dogs out here!" Robbins yelled out to whoever could hear her, as she held back a sob.

She couldn't even look at Matt anymore. Robbins felt so bad for Kelly. Her mother and father were dead now and knowing Kyle, he probably showed Kelly her father's body or even made her watch the murder. Kyle was insane, clearly not in the right state of mind. Kelly would have a lot of processing once she was found. Robbins would make it her goal to find Kelly since Matt was unable to do that. She had met Kelly a few times and she seemed like a tough girl but toughness would only get you so far.
"Listen up! I want this whole place swept and checked, inside and out. Make sure to get the backyard too and the sides of the house. I want dogs out here with the most fitted men who can track this guy. He can't be too far, hopefully. If you get any information, call me. I'm going to do a report on the kids taken from the cabin. We need to find him." Robbins yelled to everyone.
She went back outside, thankful for being able to get out of that house. She got in her car and drove away from the crime scene. Kyle was a real pro at this. Once at the station, she walked in and went into a conference room where all the kids were being held. All of them stared at her with concern as she walked in. None of them had met her yet so she introduced herself.
"Hello, I'm Detective Robbins. I'm now in charge of this case." She said smiling as she took a seat.
"What happened to Detective Hunter and Detective Ross?" The girl named Jessica asked. All the kids looked at her questionably. They all had name tags on so she would know their names. She couldn't lie to them, they wouldn't trust her if she did.
"Well, I'm sorry to say that they were both murdered today." She breathed, not wanting to talk about it.
"Was it by the guy who took us?" A girl named Maddie asked.
Robbins nodded at the question and the girls face looked devastated. In the report about her, she was friends with the boy who was taken and Kelly. They both knew Matt and were upset because of his death. Though wouldn't anyone be sad if someone died, especially murdered.
"Okay, were any of you told by this man where he would want to go or any place at all?" She asked. No one spoke up.
"Come on, if you want this guy to be caught we need any information we can get." Robbins explained.
Then the girl named Christina Perry said, "I heard one of the guys say that the two guys should just leave and leave us to die and go to the Bahamas where they could be free. They said that both guys should get a girl and the four of them leave and would never be caught."

"Okay, thank you. That is very helpful, maybe that is their plan." Robbins said quickly getting up from her seat.
She ran out the door and yelled, "Check all airlines to the Bahamas right now!" Have the coast guard check every boat heading in that direction for Kyle and Marcus." Robbins quickly ran out to her car when she got a call.
"Hello." She said quickly, hoping it was someone from the crime scene.
"Hello, Christi Robbins." An unknown voice said. The call was restricted.
"Who is this?" She asked, knowing it wasn't another officer.
"You don't recognize my voice?" The voice said. Then she recognized that British accent from anywhere as she thought more about it.
"Oh my god, Gary?" She asked.
"Bingo! How are you doing, Love?" He asked and she could tell he was smirking through the phone.
Gary was an escaped prisoner that Robbins had put away for murder and kidnap of young teens. He was just like Kyle but Kyle didn't want to be caught, Gary did. He had served about three months in jail then escaped and fell off the face of the Earth. He has been in hiding for three months to this day and this was the first time he had contacted her or anyone on the police force. Gary was a ghost, only being found if he wanted to be found. Before Kyle Olive, Gary was her main case that she was trying to track him down and find him. All leads ended up as dead ends.
"So Love, I see you have a problem on your hands." He said when Robbins didn't answer his question.
"Yes and I don't have time to talk to you." She said, even though she wanted to find out where he was located.
"You don't want to try and track my number and find me, love?" He asked, laughing.
"I do but not today. I have another guy on my hands that's trying to flee the country." She said and she wasn't sure why she had to explain herself to him.
"Yes I know, word travels fast. I can help you, Love." He said which surprised Robbins.
"How?" She asked, suddenly more interested.
"You see, I have been on the run for months now and I know many people who can fly under the radar and have routes to places that you can look for. Let me guess, you have canceled all flights and are having the coast guards looking for this guy. He can find other ways, I'm sure, to beat the system, especially since he was a police officer. I mean I wasn't a police officer and you saw how far I traveled before getting caught and that was because I wanted to. I could have hidden forever if I wanted to."
"Why did you want to get caught?" She questioned.
"I thought you were more focused on finding this guy you're after now and not me?" He asked, chuckling in the background. Robbins started her car and started to drive back to the house where hopefully there was something to work with.
"Can you help or not because if you can't then I have to go and figure out how I'm going to catch this guy." She demanded, her voice harsh and to the point.
"Okay fine, Love. You need to manage all air flight. It's too hard to get to the Bahamas by boat because it's storming out there." He said, weirdly knowing the weather. She didn't remember telling him about the Bahamas just that he was fleeing the country.
"How did you know about him going to the Bahamas?" She asked.
"I have my connections but I suggest you hurry now, Love." He said hanging up the phone before Robbins could say another word.
"Attention! I need all air flight managed and I want names of pilots and I want any plane that refuses or hesitates to be forced down or followed. Everyone, Kyle and Marcus have taken a plane and are going to the Bahamas. I'm sure they have fake passports and will be buying tickets so all public airlines better be checked." Robbins said into her walkie talkie.
"I also want some men to get on a privet jet and fly to the Bahamas just in case we can't catch him before then. Take the fastest jet the government can give us and move quickly!" She shouted as she sped quickly to the crime scene.
She knew it would take some time to get the flights managed and she just hoped that they could get it done in time. When she arrived at the crime scene, most of the officers had left because of her commands and the others were investigating.
"Anything?" She yelled. She loved being in charge and loved that she was getting closer to catching Kyle. He wouldn't get away this time. She would make sure of it.
"Kyle and Marcus' prints are all over this place. DNA, fingerprints, hair samples, everything. They probably weren't preparing to be safe and have to leave so suddenly. Matt was killed just minutes before we got here and Ross was a little before that, maybe ten minutes." Detective Ericson said.
"That's it, get me a helicopter now!" She shouted.
If only she was quicker and had arrived a few minutes earlier, maybe she could have saved Matt and possibly Ross. It killed her inside that if only she had driven a little faster then lives could have been saved. Robbins walked outside, trying not to punch a wall in anger. She was going after these maniacs and wouldn't stop until it killed her or until they caught these bastards. Kyle wouldn't get away with killing her friends.
