Canna sends out a Vaporeon named Ren. Sienna responds by sending out Setter, her Skiddo.
"Alright, Alright," the blonde boy says. His name is Adon. I need to remember that. "First move is decided by a coin toss. Cerise, heads or tails?" The blonde girl thinks for a second before saying heads. A....dele? No, Adon. Adon takes out a silver coin and flips it. The coin lands on the ground softly.
"It's heads," he announces. "Cerise gets the first move. Alright, listen up ladies! This'll be a two on two match, switching allowed. The match'll be over when both Pokémon on either side is unable to battle, if a third Pokémon on either side is sent out, or if one or both trainers forfeit. The match'll be declared a draw if both Pokémon on both sides are deemed unable to battle." He looks back at Russet. "Am I forgetting anything?" Russet shakes his head no. "Alright, alright! And...begin!"
"Okay! Setter, use Razor Leaf!" The foliage around Setter's neck glow green and a cluster of fluorescent leaves speed towards the Vaporeon.
"Ren, Acid Armor," Canna calls. Ren's body quickly turns to liquid starting from her snout. Once the leaves reach her, they pass almost harmlessly through get liquefied body.
"What the hell?!" Cerise exclaims. "Is that even legal?!" Canna laughs...strangely.
"Yes Cerise. That's completely legal. Anywho, Ren, use Aqua Ring!" Ren fires a burst of water into the air. The trail falls back down and envelopes her in multiple rings of water. Mixed with her liquefied form, it's really a stunning display. Ren and the rings glow for a second before they stop. That must be the healing part.
"Umm," Cerise says nervously. "Setter...use Tail Whip."
"Are you kidding me," Russet groans as Setter's tail glows and wags. I decided to join the others who were sitting at the table when the battle started. "She should have used Tail Whip from the get go. Especially knowing a Vaporeon. She's screwed now." I turn my attention back to the battle. Canna almost looks like she wants to laugh.

"Ren, use Aurora Beam." A ball of light forms at Ren's mouth before she launches a beautiful multicolored beam of light at Setter. It hits the grass type's head on who lets out a cry.
"Setter, you okay buddy," Cerise asks. The Mount Pokémon nods shakily. "O-okay. Use Synthesis." Setter lifts his head up and the leaves on his back glimmers a pale shade yellow. He was obviously hurt a lot by Aurora Beam.
"Don't give him time to heal. Use Water Pulse and aim straight for his snout!" Ren releases a blue ball of energy towards Setter.
"Setter, look out!" But it's too late. The ball his just as Setter tilts his head down, leaving the dual typed Pokémon coughing and spluttering.
"Was that necessary," Cerise growls. Canna laughs her strange laugh.
"No, not really. But who cares. Ren, end it!" That's all Canna says but the Bubble Jet Pokémon knows exactly what to do: Aurora Beam. She launches the multicolored beam of ice, ending the battle between her and Setter.
"Skiddo is unable to battle," A...riel? No. Adon! Adon announces. "Vaporeon is the winner!"
"Dammit," Cerise grumbles before returning Setter to his Pokéball. "You did good Setter. You did good."
"That he did," Canna says before returning Ren to her Pokéball. "Ridary, it's showtime!" She throws up another Pokéball, how she knows which one still puzzles me, and out pops a Quilladin.
"Why'd you switch out," Cerise asks.
"I want to give Ren a break. She did a lot back there." There's a pause. "Well come on, who's your next Pokémon?"
"Oh, right. I know just who to use!" She grabs for a Pokéball.
"Please don't be her," Russet mutters. "Please don't, please don't, please don't."
"Niays, I choose you!" Cerise's Braixen emerges with a bright blue light.
"Fuck it all," Russet says. "Just fuck the world."
"What's wrong, Ru-ru," the little blonde girl asks. I found out her name is Lisian.
"Nothing, Lis. It's just that... you'd think Cerise would have at least tried to win."

"Huh," she says. "Oh, I know what you're talking about! If Cerise's Braixen beats Canna's Quilladin, she'll still have to go against Canna's Vaporeon. And she'll have the disadvantage."
"Exactly."
"You know," I interject. "This isn't completely Cerise's fault. Most of it is, but not all of it. You're her coach so you should train her more on things like that."
"Oh shut up. I know it's my fault, too. You'd just think she'd have thought it out a little more."
Meanwhile, back at the battle, Canna had ordered Ridary to use Leech Seed on Niays, which was currently sapping away the poor Fire type's health. You can see the yellow and green roots criss-crossing across Niays's body.
"Niays, Flame Charge!"
"Meet it with Roll Out!" Niays becomes surrounded by a column of red hot fire and rushes towards the grass type. All the while Ridary curls into a ball and starts spinning. He becomes outlined in the faint image of a rock and torpedoes to meet Niays. The two attacks collide and are just about even, though Niays suffers a little more damage from Leech Seed.
"She's better than I though," Canna says. "Your Braixen I mean. Not so sure about you, Cerise."
"Oh is that how you feel huh? Well guess what, you ain't seen nothing yet! Niays-"
"Hold on a second," Canna interrupts. "Why'd you send out Braixen anyway?"
"Well that's a stupid question. Because she has the advantage over Quilladin."
"Mhm...and you do realize this is a two on two battle, right?" Cerise nods. "Okay...and you do realize that even if you beat Ridary, you still have to go against Ren if want to win, right." Cerise nods again and then she gets a sudden realization.
"Guess I didn't think of that," she says quietly.
"Nope, you didn't. But come on! Let's continue." Cerise stays quiet. Canna smirks. "Mm, I guess you've given up. I knew you were I weak trainer."
"I AM NOT WEAK AND DON'T YOU EVER EVEN THINK THAT!" Cerise takes a breath. "I'll show you who's weak. Niays-"
"Cerise, wait," Russet says. "Let Canna have this move."
"Well, took long enough to say something," Canna says. "Meh, who cares. Ridary, you know what to do." Ridary curls into a ball again and rolls towards Niays.
"Cerise, keep it away with Psybeam," Russet says.
"You heard him, Niays. Psybeam!" Niays uses the stick on its tail to create a pink and yellow beam of energy and direct it in front of the rolling Pokémon.
"Smart move," Canna says. "If I can't get close, I can't attack." She smiles. "Sadly, you're going to have to be smarter than that."
"What do you mean," Cerise and Russet ask in unison.
"You'll see," Canna says. "Ridary, use Roll Out for me please." Russet frowns. Cerise looks him
"Go ahead," he says. "I wanna see what she's taking about."
"Okay. Niays, use Psybeam to keep it away." A line of shimmering colors is sent towards Ridary.
"Ridary, into the the air!" Ridary jumps out of the Roll Out and into the air.
"Oooh shit," Russet says. "Quick aim for it!" Cerise calls the Psychic attack but Canna is expecting this.
"Ridary, use Roll Out and Needle Arm combined." Ridary's arms glow yellowish-green and he curls into a tight ball. The rock-like image covers his body, the sides glow green like the Needle Arm attack. He collides with the Psybeam and easily breaks through it, setting him on a crash course towards Niays.
"Switch Needle Arm to Brick Break," Canna calls quickly. The sides of Ridary's body change almost instantly from green to orange just as he collides with Niays. The fox Pokémon is sent crashing hard into the ground.
"Braixen is unable to battle," Ad...onis. No, Adon. Adon says. "Quilladin is the winner! This means the victory goes to Canna!"
...Damn Cerise is bad at battling.

Rune
In the world of Rune, there are two kinds of Players. The Crafters, and the Fighters. Fighters level their magic power, fueling the runic items from their own bodies, while crafters use the runes they bring back to develop powerful items using their knowledge of the electronic-like system. Not everything stays that simple, though, and Rune is no exception. Within each region, a number of guilds have sprung up, operating as the unaccountable vanguard of defense for the besieged cities. They don't care to deal fairly, and nobody else has the power to do much about it. (Harem is tagged but it's honestly polyamory. I hate the word harem but given that some people would interpret it as such, in it goes.)
