《Kumiai, Cookies & “Genki” Club》Chapter 33: Shall we eat at the cooking club?

After discovering her new tablemate, Kajiyashiki Rengetsu, Rina seems to have completely forgotten the stress that has been eating away at her until this morning.
This is an opportunity for her to get a head start on the first classes of the year.
But this is not really the first concern that invades the thoughts of our dear Rina…
If I remember correctly, it was this girl…
Pointing to the seat on the far right of the second row.
… who promised me cookies today, she praised its qualities so I hope I won’t be disappointed. Especially if it allows me to join a nice club quickly.
The time passes, the hours go by and we are already at the lunch break.
*School Bell Sound*
Fujisaki-sensei, the main teacher of Rina’s class, having taught her lesson, calls out to her students.
“Before you break for lunch, is everyone aware of the program for this afternoon?”
Some nod to indicate that they have the information but others seem more perplexed, like Rina for example…
“Um…”
“Perhaps not everyone is yet familiar with the new messaging system tied to your student card account.”
“Um…”
Minato sees Rina thinking.
“Shimizu-san? You haven’t opened your personal student area yet?”
“I didn’t have time.”
Or rather she forgot.
“A quick reminder then, as it’s a Friday and tomorrow is the weekend, the school has decided to dedicate this half-day to your integration into a club.”
A hand goes up.
“So no classes?”
“So no classes. Some clubs have already planned activities or initiations and there will also be booths for various off-campus associations. Feel free to stop by.”
After much thought, Rina remembers one thing.
“I was promised something very important.”
“Shimizu-san?”
“I will never forget this kind of promise because it always commits the most delicious thing on this earth.”

A piercing glance crosses the classroom diagonally until it reaches the figure of the famous cooking club member.
*Thrills*
She turns around as if she felt the intensity of Rina’s gaze.
“Eh? I feel like I’m being targeted by a predator.”
She said to herself.
“Minato-Kun, can I ask you a question?”
“Yes.”
“Because my mind is constantly bombarded with very, very complex information and thoughts, I didn’t have time to memorize the names of my classmates.”
“Ok…”
Instead, say that you didn’t listen to other people’s presentations because you were so nervous about your own.
“What was the name of this young lady who bragged to me about the prowess of her club? It seems to me that she owed me a privileged tasting.”
“Are you talking about Yamamoto Fuuki-chan?”
“Fuuki-chan eh?”
Rina stands up, and without flinching for a second, she walks with a determined step toward her classmate.
“Fuuki-chan-san?”
“Eh? Fuuki-chan-san?”
Fuuki turned around and found herself face to face with a Rina whose eyes were darkened by her greed and gluttony.
“Shimizu-san?”
“Looks like I’ll be able to enjoy your famous cookies a little faster than expected won’t I?”
“You scared me, I thought something bad had happened when I saw your dark look. Of course, you can come to the club.”
“This is something that couldn’t be more serious to me, it’s normal to have a serious tone when things get serious.”
“Haha, I see. Anyway, you can come to the club now if you want. The first activity we’re going to introduce is to make lunch this afternoon and eat together.”
“Um, what about the cookies?”
“This is the second activity the club has planned, so as soon as we finish lunch it will be good.”

“Um… I’m not sure. I had to meet my friends for lunch.”
“The activity starts in half an hour so you can always ask them in the meantime.”
“You are not wrong. Thank you very much Fuuki-chan-san, if you don’t see me in half an hour, I’ll come for the second activity.”
“Okay, no problem.”
Now all that’s left is to convince Aya and Sophie to come with Rina to the cooking club.
She quickly retrieves her things and rushes to join her friends.
I hope they don’t have plans for lunch, I’d like to eat with the cooking club. If not, too bad, we’ll go together for the rest of the program.
As she exits the main building of the high school, Rina looks for Aya and Sophie in the crowd of students.
I don’t remember if we had invited a meeting place for the lunch break. I didn’t even know we were free that afternoon.
There are a lot of people on campus at lunchtime, so it’s hard to find someone precisely in these conditions.
*Patting*
“Hiiii !!!”
“Yo Rina, we’re here.”
“A-”
“We were afraid you wouldn’t be able to find us in this crowd Rina-chan.”
“AYA! SOPHIE!”

The Cyclical Nature of Time
A girl’s life ends unexpectedly early, or so it would seem. Instead of eternal nothingness, she wakes up in an empty valley with no clue how she got there. Taking her predicament in stride, she sets out to do something about it. Unfortunately for her, the first couple of people she meets aren’t much help. They claim they haven’t heard of electricity and dress as if they were on a break from their job at a Viking-themed amusement park. MC is a somewhat normal girl. She's pragmatic and not very angsty. The story is tagged with anti-hero, but to be clear, she is not a villain. She does good if she can, she just isn't morally motivated to do so. The story starts out smelling of fantasy but will eventually shift towards sci-fi. It contains some supernatural elements and has a strong lead, but it is not your usual power trip. Expect a story that takes its time, but not to the point where entire chapters are spent on mindless chit-chat. I’m not into that. This is my first serious attempt at writing and I've learnt a lot writing this. Unfortunately, that shows. Chapter 1-10 is slow and rather pointless. Things get better, but it is not until chapter 25 or so that I began understanding how to structure chapters and to make them support the larger story. I publish about 3000 words a week (every sunday) but I write about 10000 words a week. Sticking to that pace, which is easy, the last chapter will be out by July.
