《Unstable (L x Reader)》Chapter Eleven: Nearly Stolen

I was forced to watch as (name) was being dragged out of her room by these two awful and quite disgusting guards. I could even tell that the shinigami that I was investigating yesterday was even watching and noticed how these humans are truly despicable. They handled her so roughly and they were so rude to her, I heard the things they said to her in her room. And I could see the trail of water on the floor from her tears, but what scared me the most was the way she talked to those guards. The thing she said about life spans got me really confused and her laugh made me more nervous because it really sounded like she broke. But then I saw her other eye glowing a tiny bit. At that moment it clicked in my head, I think I finally figured (name) out. All of a sudden, as I looked over, I saw the guard that she must hae knocked to the floor grabbing something from his jacket, it was a needle and he just carelessly stabbed it into her foot and it injected all of its contents inside her. (name) collapsed and then not too long after the guard holding her took harsh breaths, clutched to his shirt by his heart and fell to the floor. The man on the floor did a similar thing. As I approached them and checked their pulses, I felt nothing. They died. This was clearly the work of Kira. When I turned on the news really quick I saw a person reporting about (name)'s mental hospital and saying how they had hired two guards that had their names released earlier today in the papers and that they were harassing minors for many years unnoticed. Then I had realized what had happened right in front of my eyes. I even heard them confirm my thinking right in front of me right before they died. They looked at naked minors then harassed them later on. It definitely made sense why Kira had punished them since it is truly revolted. But now I had to clean up two dead bodies and I had to get (name) in a bed. As the clock chimed 7:15 I saw the door open. Light's face came through the gap in the door and I saw his face change to a very surprised look. I mean there were two dead men on the floor and also (name) was passed out. "What happened to (name)..?" "I'll tell you later, but for now listen closely. Kira killed two people in this building, it was very obvious, so I need you and your father to dispose of these bodies in any way you can. I just cant have the news report their deaths quite yet." Light nodded and his father came and grabbed the body and carried them out of the room and down the stairs. I looked down and saw (name)'s limp body on the floor. Her chest going up and down so very slowly. I then crouched down and picked her up bridal style and carried her back to her room. When I saw what it looked like it just made me shiver. Her sheets were nearly torn off her bed and things were shifted around a bit from all her thrashing from trying to escape. It made me want to release some form of my emotions since I felt bad that someone could be truly treated like this. And as I slipped her back into her bed I was then thinking what would happen next? Would she still go back? Would other guards drag her out of here like the other two that just died? But I know for sure (name) is not human. But first, the most important thing at the moment was to take the needle out of her foot and to see what drug they used on her just to make sure it wasn't a deadly dose. So I called Watari over and he carefully removed the needle and took it away to examine it. I just stood by her side. After a half an hour of waiting for her to wake up she was not waking up. I looked at the needle that we took out of her foot and saw that it was filled to the brim with a very strong sedation drug. I realized she wouldn't be up for a while. But when I walked out Light and his dad were back from destroying the bodies. Light then came up to me and asked me to explain to him everything that happened. "Well the mental institute came and decided it was time for (name) to go home. But she did not give up without a fight. So they drugged her but then the guards died. But you saw that." "Why would they give her such a strong drug?" "They probably knew she would lash out at them and brought it to sedate her all the way to the hospital and probably a bit extra to get her back into her cell." "That is just so cruel and inhumane. What if that drug could kill her?" "We looked through what the drug does and it's a very safe drug, so there's nothing to worry about Light-kun. But she won't be waking up anytime soon so I mean you can go see her, she's in her room sleeping, but if you're going to talk to her well she won't hear you at all." Then Light left and wandered into her room. I walked over to Watari who was in the kitchen with everyone else who looked very traumatized. "Watari, has the mental hospital contacted you at all about where to send (name) yet?" "Well they have called and they want us to go all the way down there with her to get evaluated to see if she can handle being out of there for good." "Well did they say when we had to be there?" "As soon as possible." I sighed and I really did not want to move her from her bed since I worried she would wake up. Then Light emerged from (name)'s room and walked over to his dad. I quietly eavesdropped on what they were saying for fun. "Dad, do you remember when you last saw her, in.. an outburst?" "Yeah... she was only ten but she looked really strong because her living room was in taters. She even threw a coffee table at her mom. She also cut herself on her wrist and she bled all over her carpet and her mom almost threw a vase at her. The scene was awful so I questioned her about her mom and all she said was that she hated her mom and that she wanted her dead and that she never truly loved her." "That's awful." "Yeah and another thing too, she left a big bite mark right along my hand when I took her out of her house." "Wait, you dragged her out of her house like the guards that we believe Kira killed?" "Well more or less. And I hate to hear what happened afterwards so if you were going to ask if I felt bad the answer is yes but-" "No buts, leave it at that." I quit listening and went into her room. I opened the door and I saw her sleepy body still laying in bed like how I left her. I then crawled into her bed and looked at her. I kissed her cheek to see if she would wake up but she did nothing. It felt nice though, giving her affection, she was well deserving of it too. Then I carried her out of her room and went with Watari down to the car and headed out on the long drive to the mental hospital. As we got into the car I set her head in my lap and stroked my hands through her hair. Her soft (h/c) hair. It was such a soothing color. But then I heard her stirring and I quickly moved my hand away from her head to let her move. She turned over and she let her head look right up at me. I smiled a bit and she groggily smiled too. "Nice to see you... Lawliet." "How did you figure out my name?" "Have you not figured it out yet?" "Well I have an assumption... do you have the same or at least similar powers to Kira?" "No silly! I'm just half shinigami!" Then I felt Watari slam on the breaks. "What's with the sudden stop?" "Nothing sir... I'll keep driving."

The Core And The Wardens of Eternity
What is the Core, they asked me... It's the light that pushes the darkness away, a bastion of justice, a safe keeper of life. It grooms love and tolerance, embraces science, fights ignorance, sentences it to die a slow and tragic death. The Core... it's something that can't be destroyed for destroying it is to terminate the time and space itself. When the stuck-in-a-dark-age world of Zanria goes offline, the Core sends one of its experienced agents to find out what is going on and to try to reestablish a mysteriously severed connection. However, all his training and experience might come way short as the world sinks in war and chaos with different races and clans fighting for the Star of Bardan, the ward rumored to possess enough supernatural power to create and destroy entire worlds. *** I just changed the name of the series, from 'the Nexus' to 'the Core'. Somehow it just sounds more right to me. This is the first story, and it has a medieval fantasy setting. But, eventually, this is going to turn into Isekai series with elements of LitRPG. So, my future books might include worlds with advanced technologies that might be more in SciFi, including Steampunk, genre. The first book might start slow, but after a few chapters, it should all be properly set up, and by then you should get the feel of how it will all flow. Also, I plan to introduce different story threats that should spread out and criss-cross in the future. Hopefully, I will not complicate it too much, and that it will all read good. I am planning to continue to add chapters to the main storyline here, but I'm also starting a new story threat in the Core series called The Recordings of Raan. There is also a side story The Memoires of Eisen that's exclusive on Patreon for those who would like to support me.
