《Klaus's Pet》Chapter 24

Lorelei POV:
Emma laughs.
"Seriously? You bring beer every time you come here and yet you don't drink?" She asks
"To be honest, yeah. I'd rather be high than shitfaced. Alcohol just doesn't do it for me." I say
"Being a hybrid doesn't help with hangovers?" Ash jokes
I laugh and shake my head.
"Unfortunately not. If anything it makes it a hell of a lot worse."
Emma punches me in the arm.
"Where have you been? I haven't seen you in over a month. I was getting worried that you died or some shit." Emma says
James rolls his eyes.
"I swear she's got a deep obsession with you. She talks about you so much it's like every other sentence out of her mouth." He says
Emma laughs and I grin.
"It's not healthy Em. This is an intervention." Lydia says with a straight face but even she breaks out into a smile
"Sorry to break it to you but Lorelei is not my type." Emma says with another laugh
"So you do have a type?" James asks
"I'm too busy to have a relationship right now." Emma says
"Avery and I make it work." Lydia points out
"Thats because you and Avery are both supernatural and spend most of your time together." James replies
"I don't think I could date a wolf. Too much anger issues and competition." Emma says thinking out loud
"What about a vampire?" James asks
"Yeah one bite during rough hot sex and they'd be dead the next day." Emma says
"A human?" Lydia asks
"Oh sure. 'Hey why do you vanish every night during a full moon?'" James retorts
"Maybe one day ill find someone but I'm really not worried about it yet." Emma says
James gets up and douzes the wood on the fire with lighter fluid, lights a match and tosses it in, igniting the fire.

We all sit and talk about the past few weeks that we've been apart. I tell them about the hunters and they all look shocked, disgusted, pisssd off or speechless.
James tells me about the wolves that have come in. They were new wolves who had just triggered their curse and hadn't even turned yet.
I've learned that many wolves rotate out, finding new places to call home or the older ones take off to create their own pack.
They were now at around 20 or so. Some new wolves would migrate to the newer packs.
They created the system once the pack had gotten too large to maintain.
Emma always took in the newbies.
She understood what it felt like to be outcasted.
Eventually she had told me that after I had been abandoned that night of the ritual, she was forced to trigger her curse by killing her father.
A punishment handed down by Hector for the way things had gone.
Her dad didn't put up a fight and with his dying breath he told her it would be okay.
I'd always hoped she had escaped that ritual and even on the months she had come down to visit afterwards, she'd never told me. The memory was too painful.
James laughs which brings me back to the present.
Ash punches him hard in the shoulder.
"I bet I can run faster than you asshole." She says
I must look confused because Emma tells me that they are talking about racing during the next full moon.
"It's kind of a sport around here. Whoever wins gets a day off." James says
"Yeah but I'd bet that Lorelei could kick all your asses." Emma say and winks at me
"That's not much of a fair fight. She's a hybrid." James reminds her
"Aw what's a matter James? Mad she got the upgrade and you didn't?" Ash teases

He punches her in the shoulder and she punches him back.
"For real though I'd love to see you in action." James says
"Well I have been working on my fight training and-"
Emma's POV:
The conversation is interrupted when a guystarts shouting at a younger member of the pack.
The guy is around 17 and the kid is around 15.
The guy has blonde hair and grey eyes and the kid has dark brown hair and dark brown eyes.
I don't even have to see to know who they are.
I've memorized everyone in the pack for the most part. Physical descriptions, flaws and strengths.
Ugh.
It's Keith.
Why am I not surprised?
He moves to attack the younger guy who's name is Johnny.
Johnny is one of the newer-ish members and stands only 5 ft 2. Keith towers over him at around 6 ft.
Suddenly Lorelei is standing between them.
She moved so fast I didn't even hear her get up.
Lorelei puts her arm out behind her forcing the kid to back up. I stand and rush over as quickly as I can.
"This isn't your business." Keith snaps
"Back off kid." She warns
I motion for Johnny I move.
He does and goes a few yards away.
This could get ugly fast. I know from experience.
"What's the problem Keith?" I ask
"That little punk stole my shit!" He hisses pointing at the kid "And this little bitch won't get out of my face."
It happens so fast that if I had blinked I would've missed it.
Lorelei's eyes glow golden and she grabs Keith's arm and she moves under him yanking his arm and knocks him off balance in the same instant. He falls to the ground.
She pins him.
"You've got two options. You either apologize or I slowly break your fingers until you cave like the pussy you are." She says
Silence then a scream as she does exactly what she said she'd do.
His pinkie finger is horizontal.
Then his ring finger.
She grasps his middle finger and he caves.
"Fine. Johnny I'm sorry!" He says
She releases him and he scurries out from under her grasp and stands.
"You aren't even one of us." He says
"I was once and your lucky I'm not because I would've done a hell of a lot worse." She growls
Keith turns to me.
"Are you really going to let her threaten me like that?" He yells at me
I shrug.
"You started the aggression Keith. Next time do what you're supposed to do and come talk to me. Now get out of my sight before I finish the job for her." I say
He takes off to the woods.
I've tried to be gentle when it comes to Keith until he tried to be cocky about taking over as Alpha. After that I kicked his ass and now I have no problem putting the little runt in his place when I need to.
I turn my attention back to Johnny.
"Did you take something from him?" I ask gently
He puts his hand in his pocket and slowly pulls out a cellphone.
"I just wanted to call my mom." He says quietly
I take the phone from him and give him mine. I have Ash take him to a spot with better service and remind him that he can always use my phone and that I better not hear of him stealing again.
He nods and takes off with Ash.
Lorelei and I make our way back to the table.
"That was awesome." James says
Lorelei smiles.
Lorelei's POV:
Hours later as a full moon beams down through the trees, everyone is in wolf form.
A beautiful white wolf walks through the trees.
Emma.
A grey wolf, James and another fellow black wolf, Ash also join.
We all take off together running wild and free.
