《A Sky Full Of Stars (#5)》Chapter 8 | A Statement

⭐ Rafe's POV ⭐
I am not jealous. Period.
But...the anger coursing through my veins at the moment was something I never experienced before.
I never felt annoyed by Harris so much before. She's not my property, she can go talk, hang out with anyone she want but...
Ignoring the weird glances from my employees, I dragged Leona into my office and closing the door, backed her up against it.
Her eyes blazed with rage and she was only silent till now only because we were in public, but now I know hell is gonna break.
"What the fuck do you think you are doing?!" Was the first thing she shouted. "Firstly you invite yourself in without our permission along with two others, secondly you kept annoying me and thirdly, you dragged--"
I cut her off by taking a step closer, grabbing both her arms and pinning them above her head; the tip of our noses touching. Her eyes widened and she gulped audibly at our close proximity.
My jaw clenched. "I forbid you to hangout with him from now on."
She cocked her head slightly as if challenging me. "And who the fuck are you to forbid me?"
"I'm your husband, Mrs Andrews." I stated firmly.
That made her scoff. "Husband?" And a slight smirk formed on her face. "I don't consider you my husband, you fucking idiot. You will never be my husband."
It shouldn't mean anything to me. It shouldn't hurt me but I couldn't help but feel the pang of hurt straight at my heart.
I slowly lowered her arms that I was pinning above her head and she took that opportunity to shove me back and she turned around to leave.
"You are my wife, Leona. And I am your husband. We are officially married!" I stated once again to prove my point.
She stopped and looked at me over her shoulder. "So what if we got married officially? You are not my husband, Rafe. I will never consider you that." And that was all she said before she walked out and I felt my heart getting shattered.
So what if she doesn't consider me her husband? I don't give a fuck about it.
I don't care.
I don't care.
I don't care.
I don't care.
I ran my fingers through my hair in frustration. Why the fuck did I agree to marry her?
Oh yes, because I didn't have any other option.
I kicked my chair in frustration, cursing myself later because I hit it too hard and now my foot was paining.

Finally, I sat down and rubbed my foot while wondering whether I should call Westly or not.
You like her. Westly's words echoed in my mind and I scoffed to myself.
I don't like her. Why would I?
There was a knock on the door. "Come in." I called.
The door slowly opened and Milly walked in with a soft smile playing on her lips. "Hey..."
I leaned back in my chair. "Hey."
"Are you okay?" She asked walking closer to me and leaning against my desk facing me.
I forced a small smile on my face. "Yeah...of course. I'm alright."
All of a sudden, she leaned forward and lifting her hand, gently brushed a strand of hair from my forehead.
Um...what's going on?
"You look tensed... what's troubling you, Rafe?" She whispered.
My whole body tensed and my palms gripped the armrest firmly at how close she was, my eyes looking behind her shoulder so that they don't fall on the little cleavage that was showing.
Her face was too close and by mistake my eyes fell on her lips which was inches apart from mine. Is she going to kiss me?
Involuntarily, my eyes closed, maybe I did want her to kiss me but as soon as I closed my eyes, Leona's face popped up in my mind.
She's my wife. I'm freaking married! I can't do this, not in a million years.
My eyes snapped opened just as her lips slightly brushed against mine and pushing back my chair, I stood up abruptly and cleared my throat.
"Ms Thompson." My voice loud, clear and stern as I glared at her. "I think you forgot that I am married and I am your boss, so it would be better if you behave yourself. This type of behavior would not be accepted here."
Her eyes were lowered as she stood there with her cheeks as red as a tomato.
"You may leave please." I spoke again when she didn't move. She nodded and left as quickly as possible.
What the fuck? What is wrong with everyone?
My face grimaced remembering what just happened. Eww...
I went inside the washroom attached to my office and washed my face feeling disgusted.
I need a distraction. Leona.
Without thinking twice, I walked out of my office and went to hers. Knocking on the door, I went in.
"What do you want now?" She hissed as soon as she saw me, sitting in her chair.

"Nothing." I muttered walking towards the couch at the corner of her office and sitting down, leaning back to get comfortable.
I took out my phone to pass the time because there is no point in having a conversation with her cause that will only give me a headache.
I could feel her gaze on me but ignoring her, I continued scrolling through my gallery when my eyes fell on our wedding picture. With both of us standing at the altar and I was supposedly kissing her, with our family and friends in the background.
I kept staring at the picture a little too longer than I should, a small smile gracing my lips.
Before I could realise what I was doing, I had set that picture as my phone's wallpaper.
What? It's a nice picture...I mean...I am looking good.
I felt someone looming over me, so, quickly turning off my phone and keeping it aside, I looked up to see Leona standing there with her hands at he waist and a frown on her face.
"Can I help you?" I asked when she didn't say anything.
"Yes, you can. By getting your idiotic ass out of my office!"
I rolled my eyes. "Well...I won't. Anything else I can help you with?"
She let out a frustrated groan. "Can you please leave me alone? Why do you have to always trouble me? What did I ever do to you?"
What did she ever do to me? Well...um... except that she...
Let it be.
When I didn't say anything or move, she leaned forward and grabbed my forearm in order to drag me up to my feet.
"I will go away when I wish to, stop forcing me", I said yanking my arm out of her grip.
"I need to work for which you have to leave me alone." She again grabbed my arm but this time I pulled her down instead making her fall on top of me, with her hands on either side of my head, grabbing the back of the couch for support. I wrapped my arm around her waist to prevent her from falling.
Her eyes widened. "W-what...what are you doing?" She started to move back but my grip on her waist tightened, stopping her.
I smirked slightly at her baffled and flushed face.
"Let me go, Rafe. What do you want?"
I cocked my head and leaned closer making her breath hitch. "All I wanted..." I whispered in her ear, lightly brushing my lips against her ear, "was to sit here peacefully but you don't seem to like that."
I leaned back and grinned on seeing the coat of pink on her cheeks.
"Mrs Andrews?" There was a knock and I heard Milly's voice from outside the door.
I groaned mentally remembering what just happened a few minutes ago.
Leona was about to answer her but I didn't let her as I was quick to flip her underneath me making her gasp softly. I grabbed her arm and put her hand around my neck which she quickly retracted.
"Just keep your hand around my neck." I ordered in a low voice.
"Why would I do that?"
I glared at her and she finally complied as I rested my forehead against hers. Milly again knocked on the door and I placed my finger on her lips in order to silence her just as I heard the door open slowly.
"Mrs...oh, I'm so sorry!" Milly squeaked seeing us in such a position. And she left immediately closing the door behind her.
I sighed removing my finger from her lips and she glared at me. "What do you think you are doing?"
I shrugged. "Giving her a statement."
She raised a brow at me. "What statement?"
"That Rafe Hanzall Andrews is no longer single; he's now married, so she dare not try to kiss him again."
Her mouth fell open. "She kissed you?!"
I rolled my eyes. "She tried to..."
Maybe I imagined it but she kinda looked relieved by that information.
It was then I realised how close we actually were, my body tensing at that realisation as my eyes flickered down to her soft, plum lips.
She cleared her throat making my eyes snap to hers and she looked at me with a bored expression. "Now get out of my face or else I will eat you."
I couldn't prevent my lips from curling up into a smirk on hearing that. "That doesn't sound bad at all."
When her brain registered what I just said, her face grimaced and she pushed me back. "Eww...get away, you pervert! You are so gross. Eww..."
I rolled off her and she promptly got up and away from me.
I think...I am going to enjoy the next five months and a half.
