❝she almost got ijichi killed❞
"bye papa!! stay safe", marri waved as she blew kisses at satoru, who had made sure to catch all of them as he leisurely sprinted off.
the girl was then left in the presence of ichiji kiyotaka, a professional and proper sorcerer who's the assistant director at jujutsu high.
"taka-san, can we go somewhere today?", marri asked, to which ijichi was still processing how that made this.
satoru was sometimes — all the time — a pain in the ass and marri gave off a sweet vibe.
"of course! did you have a place in mind?"
"mm...I want to watch horses race", marri hummed.
"really? you don't want to go to the carnival or something?"
"yeah, I wanna watch horses race. papa bought me a racing horse and I want to see how he's been doing. I named him toru, short for papa's name", marri explained.
ijichi paused.
'he bought a racing horse for his daughter? what in the worl—'
"so can we go please?", marri asked, to which ijichi had to figure out which racecourse the girl was talking about.
"sure sure! just make sure you don't run off or anything", ijichi said, to which marri had nodded.
"okay!!"

gojōs should never be trusted.
ever.
marri was out and about, running through the crowd as she had made her way to the emptier part of the stadium, holding a ticket that showcased the horse that she had bet on — which was toru of course.
spotting many vacant chairs available, marri decided to take a seat beside a tall muscular man with mid-length straight black hair.
"there's a thousand seats at this stadium and you choose to sit next to me?", the male spoke up, glancing sideways at the little girl who had no sense of danger.

well, it was more like she felt no danger.
"I lost my guardian", marri simply stated. "if I were to sit alone, someone would be more likely to kidnap me".
the green-eyed male raised a brow.
"and what's stopping me from doing that exact thing?"
marri sighed, scratching her head as she focused on trying to find toru before the riders mounted their horses.
"honestly, you look very sketchy", marri bluntly replied. "but you look like my friend, so I think that's okay".
'kids have no logic'.
"oh yeah? and why's a brat like you here anyways? shouldn't you be playing with dolls or drawing pictures?"
"which one did you bet on?", the girl asked, ignoring the male's slightly sexist question as she preferred playing with curses instead — like sukuna — though it wasn't like she could tell him, as her father had instructed her to act normal when in public.
"number six", he answered, not returning the question.
"well I'm betting on number four, toru. he's my horse, so obviously he'll win", marri stated in a matter-of-factly way.
the dark-haired man snorted.
"sure kid. we'll see about that", the man grinned as the racers were already at the starting line, waiting for the sound of the gunshot.
"did you know that horses sleep standing up?", marri randomly informed.
"you're a weird kid".
as the race was happening, ijichi panicky hurried over to the announcement box, as he had lost the gojō satoru's child.
and it was as if god was trying to consistently trying to bring forth more anxiety onto the man, a call from satoru had suddenly appeared.
ijichi thickly swallowed as he thought of the many different ways that satoru would kill him.
"MOSHI MOSHI~ ijichi, where's my little princess?", satoru sweetly asked.

"a-ah...m-marri's in the restroom right now, so I'm just waiting for her before we watch the horse race", ijichi lied.
"eh, really? then make sure you take pictures and send it over!"
ijichi wryly smiled as he agreed.
"for sure, for sure!!"
"oh, and make sure that she's safe and sound. if I find a single hair missing, I'm afraid you won't live to see the next sunrise. ahaha!! take care!! byeee!"
ijichi's entire heart dropped down to his feet as he sprinted to the announcement box, barging in as he forced the announcer to find marri.
the race had finally ended with horse number four — toru — winning.
marri jumped up in glee as horse number six came in third. it was a pity that only the people who bid on the first two horses, that get placed, win money.
"it's okay mister shady. you'll get them next time", marri teased as she skipped off, with the announcer looking for a girl with white hair and sky blue eyes.
"TAKA-SAN, I WON!!", marri cheered, waving her ticket as she ran towards the suited male.
"t-that's great marri, but please don't run off on your own next time. and could you please not tell your father about thi—"
"no worries! and here, you can have the money since you drove me here and stuff", marri said as she handed the worried male her ticket.
"t-thanks, but let's take a picture of you first to show your dad", ijichi weakly smiled as he wiped away his sweat with a handkerchief first.
"cheeeeese!!", marri obnoxiously said as she pulled ijichi into the picture, throwing up a peace sign as the male had snapped the selfie.
"thank you for bringing me out today taka-san!! should we go get ice cream? or maybe even some daifuku?"
ijichi awkwardly laughed as he gripped tightly — but not too harshly — onto marri's hand this time.
"sure, whatever you'd like".
