《The mafia ball.》17| Come Back To Me

Grayson's POV
"I'm tired." Nova's fragile voice whispers below me.
My hands are coated in her blood as I press down on the wound. I push her hair back, sweat shines on her skin. "I know, Angel. Just hold, baby." I say, looking at her with pain.
Where the fuck is everyone?!
I notice her eyes start to fall shut and I try my hardest to keep them open. "Just hold on." I beg. Her eyes full shut and her hand goes limp. I feel for her pulse, panicking when I don't hear it. Not believing she could die, I check her neck. Leaning my head to her chest, I watch as it rises and falls. Releasing a sigh of relief, she's breathing but barely.
Having enough of waiting on no one, I carefully lift Nova up into my arms. Her head falls onto my chest as her hands fall limp beside her side. The sight is haunting. Carrying her bridle style, I carry her out of the rubble of a cabin. The sun has risen, the sky a now dark hue of blue and orange. People run around in a hurry, cabins destroyed.
I notice others are harmed but no one seems to be as bad shape as Nova. Knife wounds, sporting bruises, or broken bones. But no one had been shot, only Nova. People stop and stare as I walk towards the medical centre with Nova fighting for life in my arms. I see the busy medical centre come into view, my speed increases. I push through the doors and rush her to help. "Oh my god!" A nurse gasps as she seems me walk in.
Many doctors and nurses come rushing towards me, taking Nova out of my arms and putting her on a gurney. I watch over her, not letting her out of my sight. They start to shout random things to each other, things I have no understanding about. As they begin to push her away, I follow only to get stopped by someone. "Sir, you can't come." A doctor stops me.
"Fuck off. I'm not leaving her alone." I threat him.
"Sir, we have to operate. You can't come." I lash out at him, pushing and shoving him out of the way.
People begin to hold me back as I shout in protest. "Get the fuck off me!" I shout, watching the doors that Nova went through.
"Grayson!" Liam shouts as he stands in front of me, pushing his hands on my shoulders. "Calm down, you can't help her if you get kicked out." He try's to reason with me.
"Liam, get your fucking hands off me." I command, my voice cold.
He glares at me, his grip tightening. "Grayson, you're not thinking clearly." He nearly shouts at me. "Calm the fuck down!" This time he does shout at me.

I breath heavily, calming myself down. I start to feel the hands that were holding me back, slowly pull away from me. I walk over to the waiting area, falling into a chair kneeling my elbows on my knees, my head between my hands. I feel Liam sit beside me, his arm patting me in a comforting manner. "If she dies..." I trail off.
"She won't. She's strong as hell."
"You know I can't go through that again, Liam" I lift my head to face him. He nods his head with a sad smile. Thoughts of last time flash through my head, haunting me till this day.
"I know." He whispers.
"Fuck!" I groan my head falling back. I close my eyes, shutting out the harsh lights from the hospital.
"What the fuck happened out there?" I ask, referring to the attack on the cabins.
Liam runs a hand through his hair, letting out a sigh. "I don't know." He admits.
Great. I'll have to ask around, see if anyone has a lead on who was behind the attack. Once I found out who was behind it, I'm going to hunt them down and kill them. That's a promise on Nova's behalf.
"Grayson!" I look up to see Kelly speed walking to me frantically. "Where's Noava?" She ask breathlessly.
"She's in operation." I mumble, turning my head to see the same blue doors she went through not long ago.
"What happened to her?" She asks.
"She was shot." I say bluntly. The thought of seeing her hurt, blood running everywhere. It angers me to the core.
"Oh, my god." She says breathlessly, falling into a seat beside Liam. I don't bother asking if she's okay, where she was. My attention if solely on nova.
"Do you think she'll be okay?" She asks after a minutes of silence.
"I don't know." I admit.
"She'll be okay." Liam promises, placing an arm around the crying girl.
He's making a promise he can't keep. He has no control over Nova and if she pulls through or not. That's the thing, the only person that can promise us is her, and she happens to be on deaths door begging for her life back.
I hope she does come back.
I beg of it.
God, please come back to me Nova.

Hours. It's been four hours since Nova was pushed away from me and through those doors. My back aches as I hunch over in the uncomfortable plastic chairs, my knee tapping up and down relentlessly.
Time seems to be nonexistent in these four walls, people come in and wait and wait and wait, new faces replace old faces. You can't tell how long anyone has been here, for you yourself seem to be stuck in this time vortex.

It's making me insane.
"Here you go." Liam hands me a coffee, I take it as he sits down beside me.
Kelly fell asleep hours ago, her head falling on top of Liam's shoulder. Liam dozed off for a while, his head resting on Kelly's. Me? I can't find sleep, the thought of Nova fighting for her life still fresh in my mind.
I've paced around these floor, god knows how many times. I've had way too many coffee's that seem to be doing nothing but making my jittery hands even more that, jittery.
"Miss Quinn?" My head snaps up to a doctor looking around the waiting room.
I stand up to my feet immediately. "Is she okay!" I ask straight away.
"Are you family, sir?" He asks.
"What? N-
"-he's her boyfriend." Liam stands beside me. I groan In pleasure internally, the thought of Nova being mine-I mean she is mine but this way everyone will know that she's mine.
I like the sound of that.
The doctor nods his head. "Right, well surgery went as well as it could be. The bullet was, thankfully, intact and we managed to take it out without any further damage. She's currently resting and will need to be for a while in the foreseeable future." I nod my head taking in every detail about her recovery.
"So she'll be okay?" I ask.
He sighs, "She'll be just fine." He smiles softly at me.
I release a sigh, a weight lifting off my shoulder. I feel like laughing, crying and shouting out for joy when he says the words I've been begging for, for four hours.
She'll be okay.
"When can we see her?" Liam asks.
"You can head into to see her now keep in mind she won't be awake for some time. When she wakes she'll be disorientated, so keep that in mind." I nod my head again.
"She's room 313."
I don't waste another second and make my way through the halls, my feet practically running to her room as my eyes scan the room numbers quickly. However, when I come to her room I seem to be frozen.
Can I really see her like this?
Again.
"You can do this." Liam encourages me.
Taking a deep breath, gathering all the courage I have, I gently open the door. Nova lays peacefully in the bed, wires attached to her everywhere, the heart monitor beeping beside her.
I take a seat beside her bed and clasp her small hand in mine. Her hands are cold, her face sickly pale. Wires attached through her nose and mouth as she breaths through the tubes. An IV drips into her through her arm. The sight makes me frown, my hand comes up to her hair, pushing small strands away from her face.
The door creaks as Liam and Kelly enter the room. "She looks so..." Kelly trails off.
"Dead." I say bluntly.
Kelly looks at me and nods hesitantly, a frown set on her face. I hold her hand close to mine, my thumb stroking her soft skin. We all sit around her bed, waiting for her to wake up. Kelly and Liam are cuddled up together on the sofa, a small blue blanket draped across them.
I stay seated in the uncomfortable chair, my hand still wrapped around her small one. My back has stiffened, but I don't pay a mind to it.
I'll stay here all night if have to.
***
I let out another yawn the lack of sleep taking a toll on me. My hand stays clasped in Novas who still lays in the hospital bed. Liam and Kelly went home around one, it's been me and Nova since then. I run my hand over her soft cheek wishing she would just wake up. "I know we made a rule. No feelings." I begin to talk to her.
"But, seeing you lying here brings a lot of memories back for me. Bad ones. It's made me realise that perhaps I care for you, a lot. I had someone special but I lost them to someone evil. You would of loved them, I did. I loved them so much that when they left me I kinda shut off. Feelings didn't exist because I didn't care about anything anymore. You brought them back even if at first it was just lust, you gave me something." My voice is quiet as I continue to stroke her soft skin.
"Please, just wake up and heal so I can feel again. I...I need you to, Angel." It's then that it hits me. Nova, my Angel is so much like that special person. I can't loose her I couldn't lose them but I did and it broke me and I know if their watching me now they'll hate me for who I've become. But I can't go through that pain again, I refuse to give that person any more power over me then they all ready have.
So no matter what my feelings are towards Nova.
I can't ever, ever, let her know about them.
Because I'll loose her.
Just like I lost them.
"I'm sorry, Angel." I whisper before leaning back in my seat and close my eyes despite knowing that when I do, nightmares will greet me.
