Grayson's POV
"I don't understand." Nova sighs, a frown on her lips.
I purse my lips, angry that she's upset. I hate to see her so sad and not being able to do anything about it. Although, I'm not that fond of Kelly, she's important to Nova so that makes her important to me.
Kinda.
"How can we find him?" Eva asks.
I look over at all the intel we have gathered over the agonising hours spent hunched over a desk. Nathan's good at what he does, so finding him has been a challenge. We've looked over everything we have and I can't find one good solid idea of where he could be.
Obviously, he's hiding. So he knows he's done something wrong, which makes me think he might of been part of the plan from the very beginning.
"Maybe the scorpios are protecting him?" I look over at liam who's hair is a damn right mess. I knows there's no point in telling him to sort himself out, he feels guilty. So I let him drown himself in work and finding Kelly.
I'm watching over him.
"It's possible. What we know so far is that they are behind this." I sigh and glance at Nova who stills stare ahed of her, emotionless.
"I don't understand." She whispers quietly.
I let out a sigh and pull her chair closer to mine, her knees touching mine. I take her hands in mine and look at her. She's looking straight at me but not really. "Angel?" I mummer, waving my hand in front of her face.
She blinks and mutters, "I don't understand." What I don't understand is why she keeps saying that over and over again.
"What don't you understand?" I ask.
"It can't be Nathan." She shakes her head softly.
"It was, Angel. You saw the phone." I pull her closer to me, my leg sliding in between hers.
"I did this." I furrow my brows when she looks at me with tears in her eyes. I shake my head and being her into my lap. I lay her head on my shoulder, pulling her legs up.
"What did I say?" I whisper while strolling her hair comfortingly. "It's not your fault." I say sternly.
"I was the one who hired Nathan. Of I never did that, she would be safe." She grasps onto my shirt for dear life.
"What ever you did, you couldn't of seen or prevent this from happening. If not Nathan it would be someone one else."I shake my head holding on to her tightly.
"She's okay, right?" She looks up at me and I stare into her electric blue eyes unable to say anything.
"She's okay." I don't know.
She nods her head and rests it back on my shoulder. I keep her close to me as her eyes begin to fall shut and her breaths even out as she falls asleep. I'm glad she's getting some sleep in her, she's been restless, always worrying about Kelly she's began to stop taking care of her self.
She's exhausted.
"All right, what have we got?" I look back up at the others, keeping my voice low.
"So far? Nothing, it's like he's disappeared." Eva sighs.
"What about his phone? Have we been able to track it?" I ask.
"Nope. Looks like he's ditched it." Liam runs his hand through his hair.
"Bank card? Payment anywhere?" I ask beginning to get frustrated. There has to be something.
"Cash. His card hasn't been used. The last withdrawal was before she went missing."
"We'll how much did he take?" I furrow my brows. If he's taken out a large amount perhaps that could give us an indication of what's he up to.
"Two grand."
"That's it?"
Eva nods her head. Two grand is nothing when you're on the run. If he's planning on running for a while or going to hiding he's going to need more then two grand to start him off. What is his plan?
"What about passports? Car?" Eva raises her brows in question.
"I'll check now." Liam finds out about the passport and I find out about the car. I've only seen him drive an suv that's been provided. Suddenly it hits me. He's using a rental car that we have access to. There must be some sort of tracking device in them if there used for missions.
There has to be.
"It's a dead end on the passport." Liam grumbles pushing the lap top away from him.
"I think we have something." I smirk. Liam turns to me in suspense.
"We'll what is it?" He snaps.
"The car he's using isn't his. It's been provided for missions, which means-
"There has to be a tracking device in it." Eva breaths out.
"Exactly." I nod my head, a weight lifting off my shoulders when we finally have something to go on.
"Thai is great!" Eva jumps up from her chair with a grin.
I nod my head in return, checking down on Nova who's still out cold. "If we just find which car it is, get the plate, we'll be able to find it."
"Hopefully, Nathan will be with it." Liam sighs.
Hopefully.
***
"Stop here." I stop the car on a long empty road in the middle of the country side. We all climb out of the car, looking around the area.
I shield my eyes with my sunglasses, looking at empty fields and roads. "There's nothing here." Liam says confusingly.
I purse my lips and look farther out to the fields. I tilt my head to the side when I see a corn field, the corn plants have to at least be higher enough to hide something In. Perhaps even a car?
"Where are you going?" Eva shouts after me as I begin to walk towards the field.
I tilt my head towards the field and shout over my shoulder, "To find myself a car." I shout.
I smirk as I hear her curse me behind me. Licking my dry lips, I walk through the long grass that comes up to my shins. My whole body burns from the heat of the sun, sweat already begins to form on the back of my neck. Suddenly I'm glad I'm wearing a short sleeved T-shirt.
"You think he's here?" Liam asks coming up beside me with narrowed eyes.
I shrug. "The car might."
"That's not going to help us find her." He sighs.
I glance at him from the side, his form tense as he clenches his fists in a tight grip. I clasp a hand down onto his shoulder, showing my support. "Anything we find will help."

He shakes his head as I move through the corn. We enter the corn field and I'm surprised how much hotter it is. There's little space to walk through, having to stay in single file. I squint at the ground ahed of us when I suspect I see tire tracks.
"Look at this." I crouch down and recognise the same tires as the one of the car Nathan would of been driving.
"So he was here?" Liam asks.
I look up at him and nod my head. I stand back up releasing a heavy sigh. "Holy shit." Liam breaths.
I turn to him then to where his eyes are trained. I let out a breathless chuckle, looking at the run over corn and in the middle lays the black suv car. It seems to be intact no busted engine, or bullet holes.
"Well, good to know he's still alive." I say.
Liam looks at me. "Why the hell is that good?"
I smirk over at him. "So we can kill him." I shrug and walk towards the car.
"You can bet I'll fucking kill him."
"Yeah, yeah. Keep your gun in your pants for now." I wave him off and open the drivers door. I look over it.
The keys lay in the ignition, there's no sign of anything. I look at the gas and realise it's empty. So he ran out of gas? Good to know.
"Got anything?" I shout over to Liam who's looking through the back.
"Unless a change of clothes count as something. No, nothing."
"Change of clothes?" I perk up.
Liam throws the clothes to the front and I instantly recognise them as the ones he was wearing the day Kelly went missing. "We're not looking for Nathan." I curse out.
"What do you mean?" Liam asks.
"He's changed the way he looks. Change of clothes, I wouldn't be surprised if he's changed his hair." I sigh.
I clam the door shut and go the boot. I open it up and what I see makes my shoulder sag. Liam comes beside me with furrowed brows. "So what your saying is, we could of missed him this entire time?"
"Pretty much. To be sure we better go over the footage again." I pick up the ditched phone already finding the battery and SIM card gone. I chuck it back in the boot.
"This is fucking ridiculous." Liam curses.
"Shit happens." I mumble. I take out my pocket knife and use it to get the floor up. I cut through the material and just as I suspected, a secret storage spot is under it.
"Bingo." I pick up the map that has many circled areas on it. We can't be sore which area he's in but I shove it in my pocket for safe keeping.
"Is This a good or bad sign?" Liam mutters his eyes staring below us.
I place my hands on the the top of the car. "Take it as you want." I push myself off and slam the boot door shut. I turn to Liam who still looks at the car in deep thought.
"All we know is he has a shit ton of guns."
"There's only one reason he would need guns for." We both look at each other, sharing a silent conversation between us both.
"To destroy something." I nod my head curtly.
"Hey, you found anything?" We both turns out head to Eva who looks between us.
We look back at each other and with a slight shake of my head, we decide it right there and then.
No one can know what we just saw.
"Nothing useful." I say.
Eva sighs, "I think I have an idea." I raise a single brow in question.
***
"We have one rule!" Alex yells, slamming his hands on top of the mahogany desk.
"This is the only way. We're running out of time whether we want to admit it or not." Eva keeps her voice calm as she stares at Alex.
"You can't bring innocent people into this!" He yells again.
"Do you have any other better ideas?" Eva asks.
"This is wrong and you know it."
"What do you suggest?" Nova breaks her silence. I cast a look at her. Her eyes are steady as she looks at Alex.
Alex looks at Eva then at Nova who raises a brow. "Please, if you have any other ideas say them." She nods her head at him.
"We can't do this. Not only will bringing innocent people into this expose us, it will also cause so much more trouble." Nova laugh bitterly at him.
I sit back already knowing what's to come. "No you see Alex, innocent people are already in this. Kelly is innocent in every possible fucking way." Nova glares at him making him swallow. "As far as I'm concerned, anyone involved with Nathan, Is far from innocent." She sneers at him.
I smirk at his face. I don't even feel bad for the fucking asshole. "This is going to blow up in your face." Alex mutters.
"Maybe." She shrugs. "But drastic times call for drastic measures." She folds her arms in front of her. I look her up and down and can't help but admire how hot she looks.
I love it when she gets mad.
"What are you even going to do? Barge in there?" Alex shakes his head with a laugh.
"If I have to."
Alex stares at her wordlessly before hanging his head low. Nova smirks knowing she's won and I couldn't be any fucking prouder.
"Whatever, if anyone ends up dead, it's on your ass." He spits.
I glare at him when he says that. "This is all your fault to begin with, prick." I lean my arms on the table glaring at Alex.
"Watch who your talking to." Something snaps inside of me when he says that.
Those words have been said way to many times to me from my farther and I'll be damned if I let this low life talk to me that way.
"I think your the one who needs to watch who you're talking to." I narrow my eyes at him. "Im Grayson fucking Blackwell, I can take everything away from you like that." I snap my fingers.
"So it's official?" Eva cuts the tension between me and Alex.
"We're going to Nathan's family."

Hawkin. Bronze Ranked Brewer.
07/11/2022 Update: We're currently at the end of the 7th arc, out of 10. My plan is to continue to publish a chapter at least 4-5x a week for the next few months. Synopsis: Hawkin found his place in the world, far from humans and monsters. He abandoned the adventuring life long ago and left civilization, opting for peace and isolation instead. After ten years out in the northern forests, he befriends a strange creature and his life changes. A traveling trio of monks then show up in Hawkin's woods and share with him the best beer he's ever had. After that beer, Hawkin wants to do nothing but accept the brewer's path and brew. This story is intended to be slow and easy. It involves a slow progression of power and brewing more powerful beers. There is occasional conflict. Thanks for reading, and I really hope this story relieves a bit of stress from your days. Note: I'm behind on Audio, but I hope to catch up soon. Linked Audio is always free. The Kanas Empire was once a large empire that spanned the world, until one day, large portals appeared in random places. For the first few years, nothing happened, until they decided to send in a scout. The scout entered, but what returned were armies from every portal, all marching towards the capital, Kan-Celeste. Just as the enemy was knocking on Kan-Celestes doors, its ruler, Raulas was forced to use an ancient magic to transport the whole city to another world, hoping that, along with all his people, they can survive and return with a vengeance.

Saga of the Jewels VOLUME ONE COMPLETE
Prefer to listen to rather than read Saga of the Jewels? I'm also releasing it as a free audibook serial podcast on iTunes here! Epic YA JRPG-influenced GameLit progression ensemble-cast steampunk romance fantasy! When Ryn’s hometown is destroyed, will he be able to gather together the twelve Primeval Jewels in order to defeat the evil Emperor and save the world of Mid? A fan novelization of an amazing Final Fantasy game that doesn’t actually exist, that currently releases at least one chapter a month. Epic in that this will be very long. “It’s a marathon, not a sprint!” (-Kandaj) YA in that this should be enjoyable to~13-year-olds and upwards. Some gore, some swearing, some sex, but nothing more than PG-13. JRPG-influenced / GameLit in that it uses lots of JRPG tropes, particularly from Final Fantasy. I’ve read a lot of fan Final Fantasy novelisations and you can basically think of this as a fan novelisation of its own Final Fantasy game that doesn’t actually exist as a game... Progression in that the characters level up over time (though not with visible litrpg stat boxes). They grow in ability through training and experience, gain new skills, individually and as a party (think Chrono Trigger) and spend time discussing and stratgeising about how to defeat their opponents. Main protagonist from book three would definitely be able to defeat himself from book one! Ensemble-cast because we've got quite the roster of misfits here. The first volume is all from the main protagonist's POV, but it starts dancing between his and different POVs thereafter. Steampunk in that we’ve also got airships, steam trains, pistols and ambiguous ‘amber bars’ that function a bit like artificial lights… Romance in that there is lots of shipping here, a few love triangles, and you may be kept guessing as to who will actually end up together... Fantasy in that we’re in a vaguely pre-modern setting. We’ve got swords, magic, dragons, dungeons, monsters, all that good stuff. * "This story captures that Final Fantasy quality perfectly. Kiddy but also grim. The characters are great... Severely underrated and needs more favorites/follows. I look forward to seeing how this story will unfold." -Gilgamesh9999 "Starting at the end and jumping backwards is not a writing style seen every day. I'll admit, I was a bit skeptical at first, but you've executed a fairly crazy idea very skillfully so far. Overall, a strong start to what could be a very strong story." -RandomFF.netUser "You definitely have my interest piqued. It'll be interesting to see where the story goes... It definitely has an 'old school Final Fantasy' type feel to it, which I appreciate...Good job! I am glad you are going into more details about the story you laid out in the prologue...of course the big burning question is 'You know they lose in the the first chapter, so how will they end up winning?' That of course, is the story you're writing...so we'll see how it goes! #Following." -KyleQuicksilver (quotes are from reviews on other sites) * If you enjoy it, don’t forget to boost Saga of the Jewels on topwebfiction.com!
