《The mafia ball.》39|We Kill Him

Nova's POV
"So this is where he lives?" Eva asks as she shuts the car door behind her.
I stare up at the two stores house, a black gate shutting off the public from the property. The driveway is long and lined with grass on both sides.
"Guess so." I sigh and begin to walk towards the house.
"I'll admit, I thought he wouldn't live somewhere so...nice." I shake my head lightly at Eva's comment.
"He is a body guard, he gets a shit load." I glance at her behind my back before pressing the button to open the gates.
The large black gates slowly open to reveal a stoned driveway and a white glassed front door. Guessing by the lack of cars sitting in the driveway, I'm assuming there is nobody home.
"Still doesn't explain why he only took out two grand."Eva rolls her eyes. I let out a bitter sigh having to agree with her.
I look through the glass, not seeing much because of the slight blur the glass has to it, the hallway is empty no sight of anyone. I look at Eva shrugging my shoulders.
"It seems empty." I stand back letting Eva do her thing. She leans down to get a better look at the lock, taking out her tools, she begins to pick lock the door. I wait patiently behind her as she continues to work her magic. The sound of the lock moving inside the door, Eva's steady breaths, her hands even more steady.
"Got it!" She whisper shouts. I think she was talking to herself than me.
"Nice one." I comment. She smiles at me and pushes the door open. We walk through the door and into the quiet house. My heeled boots are loud against the floor as we slowly walk through the hall.
"It's so creepy." Eva comments behind me. I peek my head into the other room, a living room.
The tv is on but the room is empty. I stop my movements and become more aware that someone could be in the house. I listen carefully as I move my feet into the kitchen. The kitchen is smaller compared to the rest of the house, it has more of a homey vibe to it then any other room.
I take a seat on one of the stools that sat under the Island. Pots and pans are hung above the sink on a rack, the smell of freshly cooked bread filling the air around me. Eva peeks into the fridge, popping a strawberry into her mouth.
She smiles at me when I give her a look. I roll my eyes, waving her into the chair beside me. She sits down finishing the strawberry with a slurp. I make a face at her.
"What are we waiting for?" She asks as she licks the juice off from her fingers.
"Someone will come in." I tilt my head towards the kettle that's still boiling, meaning someone is to be sure to return very shortly.

"We're having a tea party now?" Eva snorts.
"Shut up, will you?"
She raises her hands in mock surrender, zipping her lips. I roll my eyes and turn my head when I hear the back door open. A short lady with brow brown hair that's tied up into a loose bun, steps into the kitchen with a basket full of freshly washed clothes.
"Oh!" She jumps and drops the basket to the floor.
"Good morning!" Eva chirps.
"Who are you?" She eyes us with suspicion. Before I could answer she asks, "Did Nathan let you in? That boy never tells me when he's home." She huffs, already letting her guard down.
I hide the glare I have towards the mention of her son and fake a smile. "Nathan didn't tell you we would be coming over?" I ask sweetly.
"No he never mentioned it." She shakes her head.
"As you said, he can be forgetful." I laugh. She begins to bend down and pick up the spilled basket of clothes. I nudge Eva to tell her to help her. She looks at me confused.
I shove her hard, making her stumble out of the seat. She smiles at Nathan's mother and helps her. "Oh dear, you didn't have to. Thank you."
"It's no problem." She smiles at her and sends me a glare. I wink at her and hide the smile behind my hand.
"So silly of me, I'm Mary dear." I take her hands and shake it softly.
"It's so lovely to meet you, I'm April."
"I'm Kate." Eva sits back into the seat not before kicking me in the shin. Hard.
"How did you meet Nathan?"
"We're work friends." I say.
She turns to me with a large smile. "That's so great! Nathan never really talk about his job." She laughs light heartedly.
"Speaking of Nathan. You wouldn't happen to know when he's coming back?" She sends Eva a funny look.
"You see, he was supposed to meet us here but he seems to be late." I jump in sending her a convincing smile.
"Oh well, I suppose I could call him." I nod my head with a smile. "Okay, I'll be a minute." She walks out if the kitchen and into the hall where I hear her dial the number on the phone.
"I feel bad. She's too nice for her own good." Eva sighs with a sarcastic frown.
"We're not killing her." I say for measure.
"I knew that....know that." She mumbles. I shake my hea suppressing another roll of my eye.
"I'm home!" Eva and I share a look at the sound of Nathan's voice.
"Honey! Your friends have been waiting for you." Mary walks into the kitchen sending us another smile as she passes.
"My friends?" I can practicality see the confusion on his face as he walks into the room.

"Well of course. It's been lovely meeting April and Kate."
Nathan freezes when he sees us. I glare at him, my features hardening. Mary, still unaware of the situation, smiles at her son. Nathan moves and I send a hard look making him stop.
"Nathan, what's wrong? Did you forget you invited them?"
"Mum go into the other room." I watch with amusement as Nathen pushes his mother to the side, shielding her from our view.
Eva lets out a small laugh. "No need to leave when the party's just getting started." she mocks a pout. Nathen looks at her then me and only then does he realise, he's not getting out of this.
"What's going on?"Mary asks with a tremble in her voice. If I wasn't so angry an If she didn't birth this asshole, maybe I would feel bad for her at this very moment in time.
But I don't.
"I really am sorry it came to this." I sigh softly and look over at Mary. She casts a confused look around the room.
"Come to what?" She asks quietly. Nathan looks at his mother then his head turns to us with a look of terror.
Just as I send a wink to Nathan, Liam, Ethan and Grayson walk through the back door. Ethan places a gun against Nathan's mother. She lets out a scared cry, Nathan watching helplessly.
"As I said I'm sorry, but don't fear. As long as Nathan comes with us, your safe and sound." I feel Grayson large figure come and stand behind me, his chest flush against my back.
"Why are you doing this?" She cry's.
"Mmh, why are we doing this?" I tap my chin in mock thought and turn my head to Nathan. "Would you care to tell mummy what her darling son did?" I cock my head to the side with a glare.
"What is she talking about Nathan?" Mary whispers.
"I...I can explain." Nathan swallows.
"Care to explain what you have done to my best friend?" I sneer.
"I didn't do anything!"
Liam punches Nathan sending him to the floor with a grunt. "Don't fucking lie." He spits out.
"You see," I let Eva take over as she slides out of her seat and walks around the island so she's standing beside Nathan's fallen figure. "Nathan was hired to protect some very important to us, now she's missing and Nathan here not only failed his job." She casts a look down at Nathan then looks Mary dead in the eye and says, "We think he's behind it."
Mary gasps and looks towards her son with teary eyes. "He...he wouldn't do that."
"Camera footage says otherwise." Liam breaths out with a grim look on his face.
"Alright, times up. Gotta go." Grayson says from behind me. I look up at him seeing him look down at his watch. He sees me and connects his eyes with mine. Wrapping his hand around my throat he leans down and kisses me softly. "You okay, Angel?" He whispers lowly against my lips.
"I am now." I smile. He kisses me quickly before pulling away. I turn my head back down watching Liam place a gun against Nathan's head.
"Move." He orders. Nathan gets back up on his feet looking at his mother. "Fucking walk." Liam pushes Nathan forward.
"We may give him back." I say to Mary. She lets out a cry which I avoid and turn my back.
"One way or another." Eva mumbles but from the loud cry I hear from behind me I'm guessing Mary heard her.
"I swear I didn't do anything." I roll my eyes at Nathan as we walk towards the parked car.
"Oh shut up." Liam kicks the back of his leg making him fall onto the floor in front of me. I step over him and climb into the car.
Nathan is dragged into a different car with Liam right beside him the entire time. Grayson and Eva get into the car, Ethan deciding to join Liam.
"Are you sure you're okay?" I look down at our joined hands, running my thumb over each of his rough knuckles that have a few scars littered over his tanned skin.
"Yeah, I'm okay. I just want to find Kelly." He watches me carefully not believing me. I let out a small groan. "Im serious Gray, just drive." I smile at him squeezing his hand.
"Fine. Just so you know, I don't believe you for a second." I roll my eyes even though there's a small smile on my lips, I let him take back his hand so he can start the car.
"So what do you think will happen now?" Eva asks from the back.
"Probably take a while to get something out of him." Grayson's says.
"I'm sure if we rough him up a bit, he'll talk." Eva shrugs.
"Leave it to me. I know how to torture someone." Grayson says as if it's a normal thing to do. I side glance him worryingly.
"You can't kill him." I remind him.
"Why the hell not?" He snorts.
I sigh. "Because, as much as I want to, we can't. We need him to find Kelly."
"Okay so we get him to tell us where she is." I nod my head. "Then we kill him." He shrugs.
"No!" I groan.
"I'm sorry, but I'm on this one with him." Eva pops her head in between me and Grayson. Gray looks at Eva then at me with a smirk.
"I mean it Grayson. Don't kill him."

Jerry is a novice necromancer who treats his undead warmly, seeks to befriend people instead of harvest their bodies, and doesn't mind cracking a skull or two when needed. Jerry tries to settle down, wanting nothing but a peaceful life for him and his undead—and, when that doesn't quite work out, he sets out to adventure. He will make friends, each unique in their own way, and together, they will travel through a variety of striking environments; from a tiny village, to the land of the dead, to a jolly archipelago, to a kingdom on a beanstalk.
