Day One Hundred and Sixty-One.

Verse: "'Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!'"

Psalm 34:8

I don't know about you guys but this year has been crazy with Covid and so much more. I think this year has been hard on everyone in some way. For me, I have really been struggling with unbearable pain from my fibromyalgia. Last year I got diagnosed with PCOS which is another autoimmune disease. My GI doctor thinks I also have psoriatic arthritis so I am seeing a rheumatologist in February. So hopefully I will get some answers. Good news though: I found a new treatment that truly helps my fibromyalgia. My pain is not gone but it is so much better.

But no matter how 2020 has been for you this year, this next year can be our year! How? By taking refuge in God!

So how do you take refuge in God?

You seek God daily by reading His word, worshiping him, listening to Him, and praying to Him.

I know last year I didn't do so good with seeking God daily. But since I have had Christmas break I have been seeking God daily and it has truly helped me. So make one of your goals this new year by spending time with God everyday. It will truly change your life because with God by your side, you can do anything ‌(Matthew‌ ‌19:26)‌. As you seek God daily, He will draw near to you (Psalm 125:1-2).

You surrender everything to God.

You surrender your doubts, your fears, your dreams, your family, your health, your job, your school, and you just surrender everything to God. Once you surrender everything to God, God will fill you with whatever you need (Isaiah 49:13). But you just can't surrender once and be done. Everyday whenever you start to worry, you cast your worries to God. And God will bless you, comfort you, love you, guide you, encourage you, forgive you, and so much more (Psalm 121:1-2).

You put God first in your life.

How do you put God first in your life? Whenever you have a problem, instead of going to your phone, you go to God instead. When we are struggling, the first thing we need to do is go to God by seeking Him through reading His word, worshiping Him, listening to Him, and praying to Him. That's how you put God first by putting Him above your family, your job, your school, your friends, and you make God the number one in your life. You do that by seeking Him everyday. And God will grow close to you (Hebrews 13:5).

Prayer:

Dear God,

I pray that as I seek you that I build a close relationship with you. Because God, I need you. I can't go a single second without you. I ask that you come into my heart and help me grow close to you. As I surrender everything to you, I ask that you fill me with your love, hope, rest, peace, strength, and whatever else I need. I pray that as I take refuge in you that you help me learn more about you and grow closer to you. I praise you for your goodness, love, mercy, and grace. I praise you because you are so good to me and you are worthy of my praise. I know that you hear me and will help me.
