《How To: Get More Reads On Wattpad》Snarky Comments [Requested]

What is a snarky comment?
When someone is rude or (as Google says) 'sharply critical'.
In this chapter I will talk about the difference between constructive criticism and snarky comments and also how to deal with snarky comments.
There is a difference between snarky comments and constructive criticism. Snarky comments, to be frank, have no substance and mean practically nothing. They just come from some account bashing you for your work. Constructive criticism is there for your own benefit, another account has given you advice which you should . Replying negatively to constructive criticism can give you a bad reputation amongst the Wattpad community as it shows that you are overly defensive and cannot take any criticism- even if it's trying to help you. Reply to constructive criticisms politely and with a great deal of respect.
E.g Comment: I really liked this chapter but maybe you could use more paragraphs as it is sometimes difficult to read. I loved the drama in this but maybe just check the dialogue parts because there were a few mistakes. Really enjoying this so far though!
Wrong reply: WHAT? You have the nerve to correct me when you don't even write a book! I need to make paragraphs- maybe get your eyes checked if it's difficult to read. Mistakes. I don't make mistakes. Go along and run back to wherever you came from and don't comment rude things on my account ever again.
Right reply: I completely understand why it would be difficult to read and I will make sure to add in some more chapters- when I'm writing I tend to forget about grammar because I'm in the 'zone'! And I will definitely check out my dialogue, I always have mistakes :) thank you so much for reading!
Now, snarky comments are a whole matter on their own. Snarky comments tend to be rude, sometimes shady and most of the time annoying as hell. I've seen so many books (none of my own, thank the lords) have to suffer through ignorant readers commenting things like 'why does this book have so many reads when it sounds like a child wrote it' or 'This is so cliche I'm done. This was a waste of my time'.

Of course as a writer this annoys me just looking at other people's snarky comments but what happens when it's your own book that is receiving snarky comments?
First thing you should know. Snarky comments will not put off readers, in fact most of the time readers will stick up for you.
Second thing. These comments mean nothing and should not be responded to if it is a one off thing.
Third thing. If these comments keep coming from the same person then you, if necessary, need to reply as calmly and politely as you can so people don't think you have sunken to the same level as the commenter. I know you will probably feel like this person/these people haven't earned your respect but replying negatively back to them will only put you in a bad light.
