《Cold Blood (Completed)》Thirty Nine - The Ceremony

Neither of us said a word. He was simply staring at me and I was staring at him. The only person in the room besides us was Gibson who watched our non existent interaction with a passive look on his face. He is one of the people I know in this kingdom. He is the one managing everything in this place. His rank comes right after Blood Devil.
"Why did you decide to return?" Blood Devil asked as his green eyes swirled in different shades of green. I tried not to look in his eyes for long.
"What else can be a better place for a vampire to live?" I spoke slowly. His face was devoid of any expressions.
He didn't say anything. Shifting his eyes away from me,he focussed them on Gibson.
"Have you made all the preparations?" Blood Devil asked Gibson who nodded in affirmation.
"What preparations?" I inquired directly.
"A ceremony," that single word made my brows lift in surprise.
So he was not going to tell me. Well, if it was a ceremony, it could be about anything. A new member or a new victory.
Even Gibson didn't seem to know much. It was evident on his face. I stared at Blood Devil for a couple of seconds.
I decided to test the man. In front of Gibson, how will the Vampire King react if I back-talk him. I want to know. Is he really serious about making me a queen or is it all a game of power for him?
"I'm sorry for causing you trouble." I mockingly apologized to Blood Devil.
"What are you planning to do, Sera Winters?" Blood Devil asked in an emotionless voice. His eyes didn't give away the pain of his tortured heart.

"Nothing. I was just taking a walk in the park." I replied to test his anger. I was waiting for a moment when he would attack. If that happens, it would be the last moment of his life. Same goes for me too. Any moment can turn into last moment of my life. Will he kill me?
If he doesn't kill me, I may become a queen. If he kills me then it's all over.
"Sera Winters, you will go to your room and stay there. Don't come outside." He ordered me.
"And why would I do that? Am I not a queen? Are you planning to keep me inside this castle forever?"
"You are my queen. You will stay in my castle with me. Even if it means we will have to stay here forever."
I stayed quiet at his serious words.
"Whatever you say. I'm going to take a long nap. Don't disturb me. Better take a nap yourself."
I didn't stay to see his expressions and walked out.
What is this ceremony he is talking about?

Gibson watched Sera leaving. Her movements were sluggish as she disappeared into the darkness. Ever since he had laid eyes on her, she had always been a tense one, unstable.
This is the first time he had seen her so relaxed yet so powerful.
"Gibson, make sure there are no hindrances. I want the ceremony to go smoothly." Blood Devil's words drew his attention.
"Yes, sir." He said. He was still a bit confused.
The ceremony. Gibson predicted the ceremony was about crowning Sera Winters as the queen. All the ceremonies in the Vampire Kingdom are the same so there had never been any problem for him to plan them out.
He didn't know what he should think of Sera becoming a queen. She had grown much powerful since the day she had arrived. She would make a powerful queen.

But her attitude with Blood Devil was quite troubling. If things get out of hand and if Blood Devil ends up killing Sera one day then it will create a huge stir in the kingdom.
"Sir, this ceremony will be held in a week. Do you think Miss Winters will stay here. She might run off again." Gibson expressed his concerns. If it comes to hindrances, Sera's disappearance will be the biggest one.
"I'm sure Sera will not leave. Not now." Blood Devil told him.
"That will be great. The crowning will happen without any problems." Gibson assured.
Blood Devil chuckled. "This is not a crowning ceremony. But I'm planning that would happen too."
Gibson was confused.
"It's an execution ceremony." Blood Devil told him with a smirk.
Gibson kept his face expressionless but he was surprised. An execution ceremony? Who was going to be executed?
Just then, a new vampire entered the room.
"Your Majesty, you summoned me?" The girl spoke.
Gibson wondered what Celia was doing there. Why would Blood Devil summon her?
An execution and crowning too... What was going to happen?
Gibson could only think of two things-&
It was not a ceremony for Sera's crowning as the queen.
It was an execution ceremony.
But who was going to be crowned and who was going to be executed.

A Different Kind of God
The city that never sleeps is one like no other. You could look at the wolves on Wallstreet trying to make a buck or you could look at the more fun things, the more supernatural things. There are all manner of these things in the underbelly of New York whether it be gods, demons, monsters, or even vampires. Now, where does Liam fit in? ... This is a Percy Jackson/Elderscrolls Fanfic I came up with in my free time. After writing 16 chapters I had some people DM me about co-posting it to different sites. Currently, I have it up over on Fanficiton.net and Spacebattles but as I saw this site allows fanfiction, and I use this site a lot, I decided to start posting it here as well. Feel free to enjoy it or hate it, I'm just writing to have some fun. If you're wanting to read it on either of those two sites I have the same name on both.

A City of One
A three-part story about a mad scientist, a child of death, and a man plagued by imminent doom. Part 1: He's the last man on earth, and it's all his fault. The time counts down as Cain fights against the remains of a fallen world in order to complete a mysterious mission. Where did all the people go? What is Cain's goal? Find out in "A City of One." Author recommendation: This story is best read slowly with sad music playing in your ears. (The Interstellar soundtrack and the song Undaunted, by Audio Machine, are some excellent tone-setters for this tale.)

The Fall of The Gods
Synopsis: In the year 1966, an army of Orishas led by Sango stormed Amadioha’s palace and razed it the ground, starting a decades-long war between two of Nigeria’s most powerful divine orders. Blinded by the rage of battle, the gods did not detect the rise of a third power, far greater and deadlier than anything they could have imagined. When gods, on both the Yoruba and Igbo sides, begin falling mysteriously to their death, Sango seeks the help of Odion, a Lagos teenager destined to rise from his dark past to become a hero. But can a human hero save the gods from a doomed fate? The Fall of the Gods is an action-packed YA fantasy based on the mythical bond that ties human life with the realm of the divine. It demonstrates the power of stories to change our lives. It also reminds us that Sango and Amadioha are not relics of the past and that, sometimes, what it means to be a hero in today’s world is knowing how to find inspiration in the stories of the gods. PLEASE NOTE: Weekly chapters will be released every friday along with interludes once in a while about Nigerian mythology. I'm a young 17 year old writer and I am new to the site so I will appreciate your comments and reviews. Thank you very much.

**for Quravin** It's the summer of 2010, and Evan Barker's older brother Jason has just committed suicide. His devastated parents are reeling from the Recession, his friends are shiftless drunks, and his younger sister has been committed after discovering Jason's body. In an attempt to assuage the trauma his family has experienced and break away from his own shitty existence, Evan decides to grab his portion of the modern American Dream by trying out for that year's American Idol auditions in Nashville. Never mind that Evan's a 21-year-old virgin with a self-image as poor as his social skills. Never mind that he's never even attempted to sing before. In 21st century America, anything is possible, or so Evan's been told by a cultural upbringing of "Follow your dreams" and "Everyone is special" and "True love awaits". Speaking of true love, Evan asks Lily Trent to accompany him on the journey. Lily is a childhood acquaintance with whom he's recently reconnected and developed a crush on. Lately Lily's been working as a stripper, a cynical and jaded young woman who may or may not have her own motivations for joining Evan on the trip. Evan hopes the time alone will spark reciprocal affections in Lily, and an improbable come-from-nowhere triumph on national TV will not only free his family from their blue collar burdens, but win him the respect and love he craves-- not just from others, but from himself. Together, Evan and Lily discover why learning how to fail may be their generation's greatest lesson. Cover art by Gerry Siorek
