Zanes POV

What the fuck is this? Nova tells me she's lost but I find her chilling in the woods with Vlad. To top it off apparently they know each other.

"How do you know him?" I ask her.

"He saved me when I was little. Ever since then he's kept an eye on me. I honestly consider him like an older brother."

"He saved you?" I raise an eyebrow at her.

She sighs as she looks towards Vlad and he nods to her. She faces me as she tells me "When I was about eight years old my fathers mate, Marcie couldn't stand me. She had apparently made a deal with some vampires to have me kidnapped and killed."

She looked to Vlad once more and he nods again. "Vlad was a part of that Coven at the time, he was hiding from people himself. When they took me to there Vlad seen me and he said he knew he had to save me, so he did. He killed the entire Coven that night and took me back to my mother. Vlad then killed Marcie when she came to make sure I was dead."

"So that's why your father hates vampires so much?" I ask.

She shakes her head "No, Vlad made it look like rogues killed her. My father took another mate shortly after. I honestly have no idea why he hates them so much."

I look towards Vlad "And you. Why didn't you tell me you knew my mate?"

He laughs "Because when we spoke I had no idea who your mate was."

Oh yeah...

"What are you doing here anyway?" I decide to change the topic.

"I have news. I have six Coven leaders that agreed to meet with you." He grins at me.

"Good. When?"

"They want to meet you in four days time. That gives everyone time to get things in order and arrive. Do you have any specific requests for this meeting?"

"I'd like them to arrive at night, I'll have my pack on lock down for the night and I'll have the meeting hall on the southern side of the territory prepared for the meeting. Only people who will attend should be made aware." I tell him.

He nods at me "Agreed."

Nova walks over to Vlad and gives him a hug. The sight makes me uncomfortable, but I hold my tongue knowing they mean something platonic to each other.

"It was good to see you." She tells him.

"It was good to see you too little wolf." He replies.

He whispers something in her ear but she just smiles at him. She backs away from him and I pull her to my side as I wrap my arm around her waist. He just smiles and shakes his head.

"Alpha." He nods to me.

"Vlad." I nod back.

He turns and takes off into the woods. This is a good thing though. We have a meeting set up with some of the Covens. Finally we're getting somewhere. I pull my arm from around Nova and take her hand in mine.

"Ready to go home?" I ask as I place a kiss on the top of her hand.

She blushes as she smiles "Yep, let's go."

We walk side by side holding hands with a peaceful silence between us. I can't believe how much this girl has had to endure during her life. Most wolves wouldn't have lasted half as long as she has. Every time I think I have her figured out, she does something new to amaze me.

I truly love this woman...

I just hope she knows how much I love her, and that I'd do anything for her. I keep sneaking side glances at her, just admiring her beauty. When I glance at her once more I hear her giggle.

"What's so funny hmm?" I ask as I pull on her hand lightly.

"I can tell every time you look at me." She says and giggles again.

We stop walking and I turn her to face me "Well I can't help it, you're just so damn beautiful."

She blushes and turns her head away "You only think that because I'm your mate."

I grab her chin and gently pull her to face me "No, I mean it. I've traveled the world going to different cities and packs. I've seen she-wolves from all across the globe. But I've never in my life seen anyone that could ever compare to you. It's not just your looks either Nova. You're absolutely stunning inside and out."

She has a big smile on her face, and her eyes are damp with unshed tears. She blinks and a tear rolls its way down her cheek. I gently wipe the tear away and smile back at her.

"Thank you." She says sweetly.

"For what love?" I furrow my brows.

Her smile widens "For being you." She says before leaning in for a kiss.

We stay like that, embraced in each other's arms and kissing for a moment when a pack link comes through.

'Attention everyone! Can all pack members make their way to the back of the pack house. Please and thank you!' Zara links the entire pack.

Me and Nova both share a questioning look.

"Do you know what this is about?" She asks me.

"No clue. Do you?" I ask back.

"Nope." She pops the P as she replies.

"Well let's go find out." I grab her hand again and start pulling her towards the pack house.

She groans but says "Okay."

Goddess I hope she'll like this...

As we get closer to the pack house we can hear music playing and people talking. Nova looks at me with an accusing look but I just shrug my shoulders and keep walking.

'We almost there.' I link Zara.

'Okay!' She excitedly replies back.

After I tell her that we hear the chatter die down, but the music keeps playing. As we start to walk around the side of the house I step behind Nova, and cover her eyes with my hands.

"Zane! What the fuck?" She shrieks as she tries to pull my hands away.

I lean in and whisper in her ear "Wait just a moment love."

She groans again, but stops trying to pull my hands away. I walk her the rest of the way to the back yard. When I turn the corner I see the giant banner that says *Happy Birthday Luna* and everyone is watching me, waiting for me to uncover her eyes.

I quickly pulls my hands away and everyone yells "SURPRISE! HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUNA!"

"Happy birthday love." I tell her then give her a kiss on the cheek.

I definitely wasn't expecting the look of horror on her face, or what she said next.

"Fuck."
