《You Saw Right Through Me》A Sketchy Magic Trick

I lifted my hands to my mouth. "Ryoma?" I whimpered. We all watched in horror as the handcuffed and unconscious Ryoma was devoured by the piranhas, his remains sinking to the bottom of the tank. Himiko appeared in front of us. She looked happy until she heard the body discovery announcement. Himiko turned around and saw the bloody water with Ryoma's skeleton sunken at the bottom.
Kaito, Kokichi, and Maki came in. "What happened?" Kaito demanded.
To figure that out, Kokichi's grand idea was to break the glass with Kiibo. He told Gonta to throw Kiibo at the glass and Tenko offered to help as well. They threw the boy of metal at the glass, and I heard Kiibo scream as the glass shattered, letting out all the piranhas and bloody water.
Before the blood touched my feet, Kokichi took the liberty of lifting me up and onto the stage. Why? I wouldn't know.
They all cleaned up, Kokichi not letting me lift a finger to help. "You don't need to get your hands dirty." He told me, although it didn't quite feel right to just sit there. We cleaned up all the bloody water, gathered Ryoma's remains, and put all the piranhas in the bucket. After this, we started investigating.
Maki, however, did not participate in the investigation. She's been acting weird ever since we learned about the Ultimate Hunt.
I examined the shattered glass. "Shuichi, do you remember seeing anything in the tank when we watched Himiko step in?" He shook his head. I reached for the handcuffs used to restrain Ryoma. "He ran away when Gonta charged at him, right? So the person that did this must be someone he trusts." Shuichi agreed.
When we asked, Himiko wouldn't tell us the secrets behind her underwater escape act, so we had to find out for ourselves. I walked into the nook that was once the water tank and checked for any hidden doors. I opened the Monokuma file and saw that the cause of death wasn't being eaten, but drowning. I remembered Ryoma's motionless body when the curtain opened. This definitely is very likely.
There's also no time of death. I guess that's hard to determine seeing as one, you can't have cameras underwater, and two, there's no body to investigate when he died. That, or...
"Hey, Y/N." I snapped out of my silent thoughts and walked over to Shuichi. "I think the time of death has something to do with the culprit. Monokuma said that he won't say anything that will reveal the culprit."
"That... makes sense. Good job, Shuichi."
I looked around the empty water tank for any secret door or faulty walls. Shuichi and Kaito then investigated the curtain that blocked our view of the water tank. While they did that, I walked up to the bucket of piranhas.
"I thought it was weird how many piranhas we had." Angie said. "What do you mean?" Angie explained that when they were setting up for the show yesterday, there weren't as many piranhas. "There's no way they could reproduce that fast." I mumbled. "Yeah, and they were so crammed in there and the water was so murky that I didn't know how much there was."
I looked at Angie and then to the bucket of piranhas. "The piranhas wouldn't have enough space to eat Ryoma, would they? The fact that they could barely move." I didn't really see any other way Ryoma could've been killed before our eyes rather than in the tank.
I held up the handcuffs that were on Ryoma's wrists. They had scratches all over them, either from a struggle or from the piranhas. "I doubt this was in the warehouse... so it was either Himiko's room or Ryoma's, seeing as he was also the Ultimate Prisoner."

]"Anything on the curtains?" I asked Shuichi, and he shook his head in response.
"What about the ones in the back?" I pointed to the ones that were behind the stage. Kaito left and returned with a ladder. "Will this do?" I held the ladder as Shuichi climbed up. "Oh, the windows open!" He noticed.
"It leads to the pool, right?" I questioned, trying to remember how the pool room looked. Shuichi nodded. "Oh!" He put his hand on the window frame. "There's marks here." I tilted my head. "What? Let me see." Shuichi climbed down, allowing me to climb up.
I saw the small mark on the window frame and pulled out the handcuffs to put them side by side with the window. "Nope, not the same scratches." I muttered.
Shuichi went to question Angie as Kaito put the ladder back. After getting his answers, Shuichi walked up to me, who was still trying to figure out how Himiko did her magic trick.
"So, most of the equipment came from Himiko's research lab. It was Angie's idea to add in the piranhas since the timer and the tank are synced. They didn't get to rehearse because they were captured by Gonta."
I looked at Gonta, who was in tears. "One moment, Shuichi." I walked over to Gonta's crying figure. "Gonta, what's wrong?" He wiped away his tears. "If Gonta jump into tank to save Ryoma, Gonta could have helped Ryoma. But Gonta got scared. Too scared to do anything." I put my hand on Gonta's trembling arm. "Gonta, it's not your fault that he died. According to the Monokuma File, Ryoma was already dead. He drowned."
Gonta stopped crying. "You're a huge help, Gonta. Don't blame yourself." Gonta looked confused. "Gonta is... huge help?" I nodded. "If you can explain to me what you saw when you went on stage."
Gonta explained that when he went onstage, the tank was empty, which definitely confused him, and that's when the piranhas were dropped down. "So Himiko had already performed the trick by the time Gonta went onstage." I observed. I reported to Shuichi, and he thanked me for the information.
I saw Kiyo walk backstage and told Kaito and Shuichi that we should follow him. Once we did, we found a coil of rope next to a puddle. I kneeled down in front of the puddle. "It's clear." I noticed. "The water's not from the tank, or at least from after the piranha tank opened." I noticed how the water was coming from underneath the staircase to the stage. "Is this how Himiko got out?"
I picked up the rope and showed it to Shuichi. "I wonder what it was for." Kiyo took a look at the coil in my hand. "I estimate it's about 65 feet in length. I once visited a village where the use of ropes was... rather common."
I was a bit suspicious at first but decided to take Kiyo's word for it. I'm a psychologist, not an anthropologist.
"When I went to leave the village, all the women begged me to stay."
"That seems rather.. Misleading, Kiyo."
I turned back to Shuichi. "Any idea how Himiko did her trick?" And he shook his head. I walked away from backstage and pulled out the Monokuma file to read it over once more. "No time of death..." I read again. "Maybe he died during that Insect Meet and Greet?" I said as Shuichi came beside me. "How long did that last?"

Shuichi thought for a moment. "About two hours." I looked back at the Monokuma File. "So between 9:00pm and 11:00pm, you, Tsumugi, Kiyo, Gonta, Himiko, Angie, and Tenko were trapped in Gonta's research lab. So all of you have an alibi." He nodded. "But what about you?" I sighed and thought back on last night. "I was chasing around Kokichi, but we weren't in each other's sights the whole time, so it could be either of us."
Shuichi looked at me, confused. "Sorry Shuichi, but everyone without an alibi is a suspect. Even the ones close to you." Shuichi smiled a bit.
"I know, but I doubt that you would murder Ryoma. Especially since you were so eager to encourage him. It's also hard to imagine." I chuckled and playfully punched him in the arm. "Let's just investigate somewhere else, okay?"
We went to Himiko's research lab to try and see how Himiko did her magic trick. It may give us an idea on how Ryoma got into the tank.
I went over to Kokichi, who was also trying to figure out how Himiko did her magic trick. "Hey, Kokichi. Can I ask you something?" He looked at me and grinned. "Anything! You're my favourite after all! But you're going to ask about what I did last night, aren't you?" I nodded.
"Well, once I left to go steal everyone's Kubs Pads, I ran into Kirumi in the entrance hall. She started lecturing me and asking what I was up to. That lasted about an hour. I tried running away, but I think she took 'Catch me if you can' as a request and caught me before 10:00pm."
So she will fulfil any request given to her if it is physically possible. "She lectured me again until nighttime started and let me go." I noticed how he didn't do any of his strange side glances. He's telling the truth. I went over to Shuichi and Kaito, who were investigating the spare tank, and told him everything.
"Kirumi was with Kokichi for a full hour?" I nodded. "Although, I wonder why she was in the entrance hall, and why she was using so much of her time lecturing Kokichi. She didn't even know if he was doing anything wrong." Shuichi nodded. "And that doesn't really mean that Kirumi's off the case. Kokichi isn't either, but from the sound of it it seems like Kokichi really did just steal our Kubs Pads."
I remembered something Kokichi mentioned. "U-um... also," I began, uncomfortably. "Kokichi claims that he saw an um... half-naked girl... running around in her underwear."
Shuichi and Kaito looked at me, rather surprised. "Well, Tsumugi said that she was keeping an eye on Kokichi." Kaito told me. I nodded. "That's not a bad idea." Although, why would she focus on him specifically?
Kaito and Shuichi went to Ryoma's room while I checked out the pool. "What is that?" I muttered. I pulled up my pants and went into the pool, pulling the object towards me. "An inner tube?"
I thought of the last time I saw Ryoma. About 7:00-8:00. That's a few hours before nighttime, which is when I assume the murder took place. The rules about the pool are that you can't touch the water at night. A rather specific rule if you ask me.
I turned the inner tube and noticed a rope was tied to it. "I wonder what this is for." I noticed something else floating in the water.
I reached out and grabbed it, and held it in my hand. "A piece of fabric?" I felt the inner tube again. "It seems almost full of air."
I got out of the pool and pulled my pants back down. I went to the storage room and found the air pump on the ground. "This was on a shelf before." Once I put the air pump back, I shoved the piece of fabric in my pocket.
Then I looked at the window leading to the gym. "That's definitely too high for the ladder to reach." I concluded. "But the rope that we found backstage..."
I guessed that the window was about 50-60 feet high. "The rope would suffice, but that's not a definite clue." Kaito and Shuichi walked in, seeing the wet area at the hem of my pants. "Oh my gosh, did you fall in the pool?" Kaito asked. I shook my head. "I found these in it." I held up the piece of fabric and the inner tube with a rope tied on it.
"Someone went to the pool?" Kaito asked. Shuichi shook his head. "I think the pool is where the murder itself took place."
"But why would the culprit just leave evidence in the pool like that?" Kaito asked. "Don't you think that's a bit clumsy?"
I shook my head. "From how full of air the tube was, I assume that it was at night. If you were to get into the pool at night, that would be breaking the rules."
I left the inner tube in the place I found it just in case and kept the piece of fabric in my pocket. "A half-naked girl..." I mumbled. "What was that?" Shuichi asked. "Remember how I told you that Kokichi saw a half-naked girl?" Shuichi nodded. "Maybe that was the culprit and they had a swimsuit on but took it off so no one would suspect them?"
"That's an idea."
Shuichi noticed that Maki was outside of her room. "I'll just ask her some questions, quickly." He said. I nodded and went to Ryoma's research lab. "Nothing was really touched on the court." I said to myself.
I shut off the machine that was hitting the tennis balls and went to the shower room in the back. "Oh..." The shower room looked like it was taken right out of a prison. Handcuffs, chipped walls, dirty washroom stalls, everything.
I saw an area where you could hang handcuffs and noticed that one of the pegs didn't have one. "So this is where the handcuffs were from." I looked at the bare peg and noticed that it didn't align with the rest. "Peculiar." I looked out the window. "Of all the rooms to have a window, it's Ryoma's shower room and... the pool?"
I looked out the window and saw the pool room. "Was... Ryoma thrown out the window?" I looked at where the inner tube was.
"It'd be hard, but definitely possible. But also rather reckless." I felt the window frame and felt a strange texture under my hand. Once I lifted it up, I saw the same marks from the window frame in the gym. I looked around the washroom a little more and didn't really find anything of note, but when I got to the sink... "Scratches?" I felt the stone around the sink. They weren't as obvious as the ones on the window frame, but they were definitely there.
"Y/N?" I heard from the court. "I'm in the shower room!"
Shuichi and Kaito came in and saw me kneeling in front of the sink. "You found something?" I nodded and pointed at the scratches on the sink. "I have a feeling I know what collided with it."
I picked up one of the extra handcuffs and scraped it against the sink. "Oh! It was from the handcuffs Ryoma had on!" Kaito realised.
I nodded and we left the shower room, but- "Agh!" Kaito fell to the floor. "Are you... okay?" I picked up the cable he tripped on. "Ah, it's a tennis cable." I looked at the drooped tennis net. "How did I not notice that before?"
Kaito explained that the cable was 50 feet long since he was in tennis in middle school. Then, the "long-awaited" Class Trial announcement arrived.
We all went to the shrine of judgement. "I think I have an idea." I said to Shuichi.
