《You Saw Right Through Me》Lost a Piece of Me

Kokichi stared in disbelief. In the centre of a circle of rubble... lied your lifeless body. Blood still spilling from this giant wound where your heart was, despite there being no hole in your clothes. Both of your eyes closed but blood spilling from your right. Your face was pale, and your legs were spread apart. Your right hand was right next to your face, while your left was underneath you. Your mouth was open, revealing the fact that it was completely dry, as if you'd been dead for weeks.
Kokichi knelt down next to you and put his hand over your heart. Blood stained the palm of his hand. He held your hand, hopelessly praying that you'd hold back, or twitch, anything. He finally let go and it was silent. "Kokichi, are you-"
"AAAAAGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!" Kokichi began sobbing into your chest. He heard the familiar chime and looked up. "A body has been discovered! Everyone please report to the classroom on the 2nd floor."
Monokuma appeared and saw your dead body. "Oh my! What a shocking turn of-" "Shut up." Kokichi interrupted. He refused to even breathe in Monokuma's direction. "You... it's your fault." Monokuma tilted his head. "What do you mean? I don't remember killing Y/N." Kokichi looked up, pure blood lust in his eyes. "IT'S YOUR FAULT THIS KILLING GAME HAPPENED IN THE FIRST PLACE, YOU PSYCHO-" "Kokichi, that's enough." Kirumi said.
Kokichi looked over at Kirumi. She had tears threatening to fall, but she kept wiping them, despite the fact that they kept forming.
Himiko was crying into Tenko and Angie's embrace, even though they were crying as well.
Miu had her teeth gritted while looking away, tears streaming down her face.
Kaede was stifling her sobs with her hands as a river flowed out of her eyes.
Ryoma had his eyes shut and was facing away from your body.
Gonta was freely crying, not afraid of someone thinking he was weak.
Shuichi had his hand on his forehead while kneeling on the floor, also crying.
Next to him was Rantaro. No one could see his face, but everyone knew what he was thinking.
Maki was covering her mouth, silently crying while Kaito had his arm around her, facing away and covering his mouth.
Kiyo, despite him not doing this much, had his mask off and kept wiping away the tears that fell to the bottom of his face.
Kiibo couldn't cry, but he was on the ground, on his knees
Tsumugi was sobbing into her hands, which were covering her face.
Kokichi... no one had seen him like this before. Not even DICE, and they were practically family. He was sobbing loudly beside your body, his forehead on the floor. He was wrapping his arms around his stomach, neverending tears streaming down his face.
"Come on, you guys are being way too loud!" Monokuma said. "Besides, this is a benefit for you! Then, not only do you have to investigate Y/N's death, but you have more time to investigate the school's secrets!" Maki was about to attack Monokuma, but Kaito held her arm. "Maki Roll, the exisals are back online. You can't." She backed off, gritting her teeth.
Monokuma disappeared, leaving everyone to investigate your cause of death. "D-Do we have to?" Himiko asked, looking at the ground. "I-I don't wanna investigate Y/N's death! Th-they weren't... supposed... to die." Shuichi stood up. "Th-they wouldn't have wanted us... to just... give up." His eyes widened when he heard a whisper in his ear. "Of course not, so don't!" He turned around, but no one was there. "O-Okay, so... some of you can investigate the... the school. The rest can investigate Y/N's death."

Everyone was given the Monokuma File for your death. No one ever thought that you would have one. You were so friendly, everybody loved you, you were always lifting everyone up... so how could you be murdered so brutally? Shuichi opened the Monokuma File and read it aloud for everyone to hear.
"The victim was Y/N L/N, the Ultimate Psychologist. Height, Y/H, weight, Y/W. The victim was found in the classroom on the second floor. The cause of death is unknown. The time of death is unknown. The wounds are unheard of, but there seems to be one in the eye and chest. The murder weapon is unknown." Shuichi looked at your body. Your death was almost as mysterious as Kokichi's.
Tenko, Himiko, Angie, Kiyo, Gonta, Miu, Ryoma, and Tsumugi investigated the school. The rest investigated your death. "F-For some reason, I don't even want to look at them..." Kaede said. "It's not that I'm mad... I just can't." Shuichi nodded. "I get it..." He looked down at Kokichi, who was still on the ground. He was sitting up now, but that didn't make him look any less miserable.
"Why them...?" He mumbled. "WHAT DID THEY DO TO DESERVE THIS?!" It seemed like he forgot anyone else was there. Like he forgot about everything but you. Shuichi put his hand on Kokichi's shoulder, making him flinch. "O-Oh yeah..." He began. "We have to investigate..." He stood up, standing on his wobbly legs.
Rantaro hadn't moved. "Rantaro?" Kaede knelt down next to him. She looked at his face and moved back in surprise. "What's wrong?" Shuichi asked. She pointed at Rantaro and told Shuichi to look at his face. Once he did, he reacted the same as Kaede.
Rantaro's face... his cheeks were stained with tears, his teeth were gritted, but... he had this unusual blood lust in his eyes. Unusual for him at least. Rantaro stood up. "I've never done this before, but I'll help with the investigation." He said. His face was back to normal... or at least he didn't look like he was about to murder somebody.
Shuichi reluctantly took a few steps towards your body. "No." He heard behind him. It was Kokichi. "I'll investigate their body... you can... investigate around." Shuichi was surprised, but agreed. "If you get uncomfortable, just tell me." Kokichi nodded and knelt down next to your body.
He pulled your pant leg a little further down, covering up something that didn't really have anything to do with the investigation anyways.
He shakily reached out and opened your right eye. "Agh!" He stumbled back. "What is it?" Rantaro asked, walking over. "Th-their eye is gone." He said, covering his mouth. Rantaro gritted his teeth and looked at you, clearly cringing. "O-oh my god..." He said, covering his mouth as well. Kiibo cringed as well. "Why would someone do this to them? Especially after... everything they've done for each person."
"What do you mean?" Rantaro asked. Kiibo explained that you had been helping everyone after Rantaro's death. "They helped Shuichi become more confident, helped Himiko be more expressive, didn't treat me like I was different from everyone, didn't make Kiyo seem like a freak despite him admitting he had a love affair with his sister-" "Wait what?" Kaede, Rantaro, and Kirumi asked. "Well that's really kind if they didn't judge him for that."
"Y-Yeah, but they were really kind to everyone... even Kokichi." Kiibo looked at Kokichi, who was still next to your body. "I don't think Monokuma will have the chance to execute anyone." Kiibo sighed and looked at Kaito. "Are you still sick?" Kaito shook his head. "N-no actually. I don't feel sick at all." Maki smiled. "I guess the sickness went away when you died of it."

Kaito looked around your body. "What's with the rocks around them? They seem too... evenly placed for it to be a coincidence." Shuichi looked around you. "You're right..." He counted how many rocks were placed around you. He lifted one of the rocks. "Ah!" Maki, Kaito, and Kaede walked over and looked over his shoulder. "That's my hairclip!" Kaede said.
Kaito lifted the rock next to it. "Check it! It's Gonta's paper butterfly." Kaede lifted the next rock. "Rantaro's necklace." Maki lifted the next. "Kiyo's necklace." Kokichi lifted the next. "My paper star..." Rantaro lifted the next rock. "Ryoma's tennis ball." Kiibo lifted the next. "Tenko's necklace." They all looked at each other, then at you. "What are these even for?" Kaito wondered.
Shuichi walked up to your body. He saw the blood staining your clothes, but there was no hole. He took off your coat to see if there was a hole in your shirt, but there wasn't any. "Shuichi, don't tell me..." Kaito began. Shuichi bit his lip. He slowly lifted your shirt... and stumbled back. "What the-" There was a huge hole where your heart was.
"Who- How did- UGH!" Kaito looked away from you. "What the heck? It's like there's no clues at all!" Shuichi put his hand on his chin. "Nothing... connects..." He turned to Maki. "Do you have any idea what weapon could've made this wound?" Maki thought for a moment. "A wound this large? And precise? Nope. Unless someone took a knife and carved it."
Kokichi shook his head. "That isn't possible. They would've struggled, and they show no signs of being restrained." He thought back to when you two first met. You had red marks around your wrists and ankles, and your face had lines, signifying that you had been gagged. "I-I would know what it looks like." Shuichi and Maki looked at each other. "We'll take your word for it." Shuichi mumbled.
Kaede, Kaito, and Rantaro looked at each other. "U-um, we'll investigate their room." Kaede said, motioning for Rantaro, Kiibo, and Kaito to follow her. Kokichi looked at your wound. "It almost looks like something broke through them." Shuichi knelt down beside Kokichi. "You're right..." Shuichi shakily put his hand on your body and turned you around. "H-Huh?"
Your left hand, which was underneath your body, was holding something. Shuichi took it from your hand. "What's it say?" Maki asked, looking over Shuichi's shoulder. The door suddenly burst open. It was Kaede. "We found something you might wanna see." Shuichi, Kokichi, and Maki stood up and followed Kaede to your room. "Oh my..."
You had two white boards, similar to the ones in Kokichi's room, and three boxes. One box was empty, one had three books in it, and another had different school supplies. One white board had pictures of each person other than you, a few words written next to some of the photos, and different coloured strings connecting different photos. The other had locations around the school, and a picture from Rantaro's investigation. "Is this the floor plan of the library?" Kaede asked.
Rantaro winced. "Agh..." He held the back of his head with his hand once he saw his own wound. "I... guess the injury's still there." He felt someone hug him from behind and he let his arm drop. "Thanks...?" When he turned around, no one was there. "Um... nevermind then." He looked back at the board. "Did they not like seeing my dead body?"
Shuichi tilted his head. "Kokichi, did you know about any of this?" Kokichi shook his head. "Y/N never let me in their room. And if I ever did come in, it was always so tidy."
Shuichi nodded. "Same here." Everyone else nodded as well, meaning that no one but you had seen your room. At least, your room when all of this happened. "Why is there an arrow coming from where the opening of the track is?" Kaede wondered.
It extended passed Rantaro's body. "They did spend a lot of time in the library..." Shuichi recalled. "Yeah, but when I saw them, they were just reading a book." Kokichi said. "Do you happen to remember what that book was titled?" Maki tapped Shuichi's shoulder. "I think it was this." It was a book about momentum, and there was many examples of a ball in the book. "Was this during the investigation for Rantaro?" Kaede asked.
"I don't think so..." Shuichi guessed. "They were with me the whole time, remember? They wouldn't have a chance to do this." Kokichi tilted his head. "Well, remember they were about to say something about who the culprit was during the trial, but Monokuma interrupted?"
"Did you see Rantaro get hit by the shot put ball and drop dead on the floor?" Kaede shook her head. "You said the mastermind killed him, correct?" She nodded. "So I think-" "Welp, times up peeps! Vote for dear Kaede and she'll get her punishment!" Monokuma exclaimed.
"Oh yeah!" Kaito remembered. "What were they going to say?" Maki looked at him. "You really are an idiot. They were going to say they think the mastermind killed Rantaro." Rantaro put his hand on the back of his head. "Well, I don't remember getting hit in the head by something that came above me... but I also can't remember a lot of things."
Kaede furrowed her eyebrows. "But then... if Y/N thought I didn't do it, then why did Monokuma say I did?" Shuichi looked at your board. "Well, it's clear that Monokuma was trying to protect the mastermind. Or rather, the mastermind was trying to protect themselves." He was trying to follow the strings, but they were so confusing.
"Why are these connected if Gonta killed Miu?" Kaito asked. Kokichi tapped Shuichi's shoulder. "What about the thing under their body?" Shuichi raised his eyebrows and pulled it out of his pocket. "It's... pretty clean for how bloody they were." Rantaro noticed. "Yeah... it was under there body, clenched in their left hand." Kokichi recalled. "I think... they wanted us to find it?" Shuichi unfolded the paper and read it aloud.
The mastermind's hair may be purple
The killer's hands are red
Things aren't what it seems
Look at the first again
"What?" Shuichi muttered. "Well, if Shuichi's unsure, then what are we supposed to do?!" Kokichi frustratingly threw himself on your bed. "It still... smells like them." He whispered, as tears filled his eyes. He felt a hand on his back and someone whisper. "Hey, chin up. Wallowing in despair won't help anyone." Kokichi lifted his head, just to see everyone still staring at the whiteboard.
"May be purple? Did they suspect Kokichi?" Maki asked. "No way, they were way to close for that." Kaito said, rolling his eyes. Kokichi remembered something. "Um... neither of you told Y/N... that I loved them, right?"

Parallels
Parallels are a constant in life. Our friends' lives often run parallel to ours; we share similar experiences or tastes- perhaps even both. Sometimes, however, opposites attract- and our lives run perpendicular. In that case, we are not attracted by similarities; rather, we are attracted to the differences in others. So, what happens when two parallels are broken apart? What might happen to them? Are they forever doomed to run alongside each other, never seeing one another, never meeting? Or, perhaps, might they be spun about? Could these lines that formerly ran alongside one another meet? Could they possibly be set perpendicular? Any feedback is welcome, so long as it is constructive. Also, you may not use any characters, ideas, places, or what have you that I present here without my explicit permission. A note: This is a story which I began over a year ago, but never got around to finishing- it feels about time to really get it going. Now, there are a couple of things about the story, and myself, that need to be said. First and foremost, there's a slow start, but by the third-fourth chapter things should be speeding up a bit. Secondly, in regards to release speed and/or word count per chapter, I make no promises- my schedule is fairly random, and in regards to word count, I will cut off any chapter at any point that feels appropriate to me- that may include cliffhangers, if necessary. I'm not trying to reach a specific word count, I am trying to create a cohesive story, with pseudo-appropriate chapter breaks. This means I will also not rush a half-baked release for the sake of getting a release out. Thirdly, I will make any edits, anywhere in the story and at any time, that strike me as necessary- typically being wording and/or formatting changes, but I may also decide to change major plot points- in that case I would put a notification in the next chapter released. Finally, and most importantly, I am a Christian; this story is intended to at least moderately reflect those values. So, if you particularly dislike any of these things, feel free to look elsewhere, and don't let the door hit you on the way out. God bless, friends.
