《You Saw Right Through Me》The Final Trial 2

"Quit playing around. You're a Remnant of Despair, so you should know!" Himiko said. Kokichi scoffed. "Well, clearly someone came late to the party. I just asked you to explain. What makes you think I know what it is?" Shuichi tilted his head. "Kokichi, you got your own motive video, right?" Kokichi stiffened up. "U-uh... yes, I did. What about it?" Shuichi put his hand on his face. "It said you were the leader of a group that only did petty crimes... not including murder. And it only had ten members."
"So?" Himiko asked. "Oh! It's because the people trying to stop the Gofer Project were more than ten people, right?" Kaede asked. "It's not like ten people would be able to stop a project made by some of the most talented people in the world." Kokichi nodded. "Besides, they would never agree to something like that anyways!"
"Wait, wait, wait." Kaito interrupted. "Why does it seem like I know so little? And don't say it's because I'm an idiot!" Shuichi felt a slight tingle down his back, and then he felt something press up against his temple. "Brain... memories! The Flashback Lights!" Miu looked at Shuichi. "What kind of weird thoughts do you have rotting in that brain of yours?"
"I found the room that made the Flashback Lights, but there was something strange about it." Shuichi recalled. Kaede and Rantaro looked at each other. "Flashback... Lights?" Shuichi explained that they were these lights that restore memories. "Or at least, that's what we thought. When you make the Flashback Lights, you could select things that you wanted everyone to remember. But... there were options that contradicted other options."
"In what way?" K1-B0 asked. "Well, one would say 'there are other survivors,' while another would say there were none." Shuichi explained. "Which would make me assume... that the Flashback Lights didn't make us remember anything. They just implanted false memories into our brains!" A wave of silence came through the room. "False... memories?" Maki asked herself.

Tsumugi cackled. "I guess you figured it out! You really had nothing to do with Hope's Peak Academy." Kokichi oh'd as he realized what was happening. "You thought I was a Remnant of Despair! Of course not!" Tsumugi nodded. "From all the information Kokichi told you, you all forgot that you were even in a killing game. I was getting desperate so I told you that you were students of Hope's Peak Academy, making you think that Kokichi was a Remnant of Despair."
"Th-that's why I tried to kill Kokichi?" Maki questioned. Tsumugi smiled. "Yep! But it wasn't only you who was controlled. It was everyone in this room! All those fake memories instilled emotions inside of you that made you want to escape. But, they were all lies!" Himiko began sweating bullets. "They were all... fake? That memory, and that memory, and that memory and that memory and that memory and that-" She suddenly stopped.
She felt someone hug her from behind and whisper in her ear. "I can tell you're stressed, but that doesn't mean that you give up. You've gotta smile for the audience, remember?" Himiko gritted her teeth. "If they... were all lies... what are we doing here? Where are we? Why are we here?"
"That's for you to figure out yourself!" Tsumugi said.

Sorcery in Boston
The timid daughter of some of the greatest spellcasters ever to have lived has found herself in another world, courtesy of magic gone awry. In Boston, Massachusetts, in the year 1935, she finds some kind souls in a hard era. In the heart of the Great Depression, as war looms around the corner, she seeks to find her place, and must come to terms with both who she is and what she truly desires. Author's Notes: Release Note: I recently realized what the hold up is. My current mental state is not compatible with the planned ending. If I wrote the ending according to what currently feels right, it will be a wretched, cruel ending that feels monstrously unfair and invalidates the work of the various characters... because that's how my life feels at the moment. The planned ending is coming out hollow and awkward, no matter how I write it, and so I've been bashing my head. I will finish it, once I manage to either brute force something decent out, or once my head gets screwed on straight. Audience: This story is not for young children - it contains some profanity, sexual content, violence, gore, and significant adult themes. Most of these are handled delicately enough not to upset teens or adults (hopefully), hence the lack of relevant tags, but it is nonetheless unsuitable for youth. It's fairly slow paced, and focused on the development of very human, very flawed individuals. Length / Completion Estimates: The outline currently involves two books. Book 1 is expected to be done with Chapter 43. It'll probably be completely finished by sometime in March of this year. I expect to move on to the far-more-lighthearted Of Gods and Dungeons (currently in progress / on hiatus). Afterwards, I may decide to redo Book 1, or write Book 2, or actually start sharing the story most dear to me, that I've been working on for several years now. Draft 1: Please be aware that this is first draft material. I do intend to come back to do a second draft after the story is complete. If anyone notices any issues whatsoever with the story, please let me know (pm, etc) so that I can improve the second draft. Writer's Pledge: I've taken the Writer's Pledge, meaning I'm commiting to completing this story. I'm a proud member of WriTE, a group dedicated to finishing stories. It will be done! Behind the Scenes notes: This picture was commissioned from an inked artist by the name of DanP. Up until the time of the protagonist's arrival, history has proceeded as before. Some places and characters have been borrowed from wikipedia entries of interesting figures from the time. I will make note in the chapter comments when such things come up. Naturally, I've taken a great deal of liberty with them. In interest of respecting individuals, I've either attempted to portray them as accurately as possible, or modified them sufficiently enough that they're simply an inspiration, instead of a real portrayal. I've attempted to be as accurate to the era as possible, but I'm not a historian. If you're aware of inaccuracies, please, bring them to my attention so that I can correct them.

Intercessor
"In my defense, I hadn't actually been trying to get hit by a truck." Artemis wakes up alone in a giant futuristic facility with no hint of where she is, how she got here, or what this means. Yet within two weeks, she is shot at with all the guns, a voice is beginning to speak in her head, and she is tormented by a seemingly sentient and possibly trollish space Roomba. Her only hope is Scarlet, another girl who is a complete stranger and almost shot her in the head. Oh, and she has fox ears and a tail. That is possibly worth mentioning. Artemis is not a nerd. She has never heard of the isekai genre, she can't fight worth a damn, and the blue-collar skills she learned at her community college are absolutely useless in a universe where technology is often indistinguishable from magic. She only has one thing going for her: A mysterious ability to interface with highly advanced technology left behind by the Antecessors, the long lost precursor civilization with technology that no one has been able to adequately replicate. Finding herself in a universe where civilizations are locked in an interstellar Cold War, where societies are so stratified that the aristocracy commands fleets of starships while slaves wash clothes with their hands, Artemis decides to run away from it all. She has a ship. She'll find a crew. She'll find a way to make a living at the fringes of civilization, learn how to cope with danger, and survive the affections of a universe where everyone is a cute girl with animal ears and tails. Welcome to Intercessor. AKA Kemonomimi Yuri Space Fantasy. Commissioned by Shaderic. Please leave your sense of shame at the door.
