《You Saw Right Through Me》Bond

It's been a while since Genesis first said that she heard your heartbeat. She never said it again, so you assumed she had been imagining things, but Kokichi was still hung onto the idea, unknown to you.
"Y/N." You sat up in bed and peered at the door to see Makoto poking his head through the slightly opened door. "Oh.. Makoto." You slurred as you rubbed your eye. "What's wrong?"
He walked in and observed the room; the only people there were you and him. "Well, it's about Genesis. I'm told that one of our shelters can take her in now." You face dropped. "Oh... really?" You questioned. "That's... great! She'll be in a better environment... at least."
Makoto sighed. "Sorry Y/N. I know you two created a bond while she stayed here, but now that there are less people occupying one of our shelters, I think it's best for her to go there."
You shook your head. "No, it's fine. As long as she's in a good place." He smiled. "I can get why all your friends care about you. You're very sweet."
He turned and opened the door again. "I'll inform the others. And be sure to come for lunch." You hummed in affirmation as you watched him leave.
Not even ten minutes later, the door creaked open again, this time Kyoko standing in the doorway. "Good morning, Y/N. I apologize if this is a bad time, but do you think you could come down to Kazuich's lab?" You nodded and got out of bed.
As you walked next to Kyoko, you asked, "What are we going to do there?" She glanced at you with worried eyes. "You have my full permission to decline, but I wish to see your memories one more t-" "Oh, okay!"
She looked at you with curious eyes as you continued walking down the hall. "A strange one, they are." She said.
Once you were both at Kazuichi's lab, you were hooked up to the machine once more and Kyoko and Kazuichi stood in front of the screen that played your memories.
.
After a few minutes, Kazuichi turned off the machine and helped you out of the helmet. "You seem... calmer this time." You grinned. "Well I already know what I'm going to be looking at, so why would I be scared?"
You walked out of Kazuichi's lab and back to the room. The moment the door closed, you leaned back on it and slowly sat down with a big sigh. You held your head in your hands, the memories replaying before your eyes.
"I just... need to breath." You told yourself. Taking deep breaths, you tried to clear your mind from the awful things you witnessed while you were hooked up to that machine.

You remembered when you first became friends with Kokichi and Kaito and Miu and Maki. They seemed so lonely before you met them. Maki was always a nervous wreck, and never realized that she was very talented. Miu was always ignored, when she was really a shining star. Kaito was always seen as the guy who didn't give a crap about anything, but he cared so much; maybe a little too much. And Kokichi was completely different from how you knew him now, all vulnerable and rather shy.
"I'm glad I helped them..." You muttered to yourself, looked at your knee. You traced the constellation 'Pegasus' on your lower thigh, just like with Maki. Then you blinked and remembered saving Kaito. "I guess I have saved a life before."
The clock hung on the wall struck twelve and it was time for lunch.
When you walked into the dining room, you saw that you were the last one there. Like always, there was a seat right next to Kokichi, and you were fully convinced that he would (try to) scare people off so no one would sit there. You sat down and Kokichi immediately put his hand over yours.
"Why, thank you."
"I don't know what you're talking about."
You chuckled and looked at Kyoko. "Is something wrong, Kyoko?" She snapped out of her thinking face and looked at you. "Oh, nothing's wrong... Can everyone from the End Wall stay after dinner?" Everyone nodded and she continued eating.
.
After dinner, you were all gathered around the table with Kyoko looking down at her notebook.
"So what did you wanna talk about?" Kaede asked. Kyoko kept her notebook open in front of her.
"It's not necessarily a serious matter, but I thought it should be addressed." She began. "While looking at Y/N's memories, I noticed that your personalities from before the killing game are quite different from your personalities now, some even contradicting your past personalities."
"We knew each other before the killing game?" Ryoma asked. Kyoko nodded and continued. "It seems like all of you were somewhat acquainted with Y/N at the time, with Rantaro being closest and Kaede being the least closest, which explains why they knew each other right before getting your..." She looked down at her notebook. "First memory."
"Why weren't they really friends?" Tenko asked. "Well, it seems like Kaede was a bully before the killing game." Kyoko answered, making many shocked expressions make their way to some faces.
"As I said before, some personalities contradict your current ones." She looked at Kaito, but stayed silent. "Anyways, that's not really what I wanted to talk to you about. What I wanted to talk about was your current personalities... and their source."
She looked at you. "From what I can tell... all of you seem to have little bits of Y/N's personality... their old one, anyways. That's probably why you were able to continue being friends with them, despite having opposing personalities from when you were friends with them."

Kyoko looked down at her notebook. "From my observations,
Maki's personality came from Y/N's knife throwing, archery, and combat skills.
Kaito's came from their love for astronomy and their encouraging side.
Shuichi came from their smarts and love for mystery.
Kaede came from their friendliness.
Ryoma came from their statement 'You could kill a mafia with that hit'... not much else changed.
Gonta came from their love for animals and their kindness.
And so on."
Everyone stared at Kyoko. "That's... a lot of evidence proving your point." Shuichi finally said. You furrowed yourself brow. "Is there a way to get their old personalities back?"
Everyone turned to you. "Our old personalities?" Rantaro asked. You nodded. "I don't want you living the lives that you didn't want in the first place. My personality isn't yours, and personality is what make people unique."
Kokichi gripped onto your hand. "Nah, I like the fact that I'm secretly linked to you. Besides, old me sounds kiiinnnndda boring." You glanced at him. "Seems like I didn't have trouble falling for you either way." You mumbled.
The rest of the day went on pretty normally since there were no missions. You didn't really do much other then hang out with Genesis, or prevent Kokichi from putting magnets on Kiibo's back.
"You can't keep on doing this." You scolded as you were taking the magnets off of Kiibo. Genesis giggled. "I think it's funny." Kokichi grinned as you eyed him in annoyance.
"Thank you, Y/N." Kiibo said once you were finished. You put the magnets back on the fridge and shook your head. "It's no trouble at all." He got up and went back to... wherever he was, and you turned to look at Kokichi.
"Kokichi, you can't just do tha- and what are you doing?" When you turned around, you saw Kokichi and Genesis making weird faces at you. After staring at the two for a bit, you walked towards the door and left.
"Wait, Y/NNNNN!" Kokichi yelled as he ran after you, Genesis on his shoulders.
He jumped onto you, making all three of you fall to the ground. "Ow, KOKICHI!" You got up and brushed off. "Kokichi, you've gotta stop being so reckless all the time."
"Hey, that's from you."
"Well shoot, I don't remember tackling my friend in the hall while a child is on my shoulders!"
"That was reeeeaaaalllyy specific."
You sighed and picked up the two of them, Kokichi over your shoulders and Genesis under your arm.
"Uh... Y/N...?" Kaito began as he watched you walk by. You turned and tilted your head. "Is something wrong?" He slowly shook his head and you continued going back to the room.
"Y/N!!" Kokichi complained, gently hitting your back. "Put me down...!"
"Sorry, what was k
"Wow."
Genesis looked at Kokichi. "Y/N, I can walk." You eyed her suspiciously, but put her down, still holding her hand. She looked at Kokichi and pulled her eye, sticking out her tongue.
"Hey! Y/N!" Kokichi whined. You patted his back. "Don't worry, we're almost there. Genesis, I want you to go to your room. It's almost your bedtime anyways." She nodded and left.
After a few minutes of struggling, Kokichi finally gave up and relaxed his body, shutting his eyes and letting his arms and legs dangle. "Hey, you didn't die, did you?" You asked, turning your head.
"Mmh."
"Okay, you're fine."
After an "eternity" according to Kokichi, you stopped and put him down. "Where... are we?" He looked around and saw that the three of you were on the roof.
"I can't control nature without my adrenaline," You looked at your hand. "But I think it's time."
You sat down at the edge of the roof, your la dangling off the edge. "Come." You patted next to you and Kokichi sat down.
"What are we supposed to be looking at?"
"Just wait."
A few minutes later, Kokichi's eyes widened as the sun began to disappear along the horizon. The sky was lined with gold rays, and the white clouds turned pink.
You slowly moved your hand closer to his, resting it on top. He flinched, but eventually relaxed and intertwined your fingers.
"I just... thought you might wanna see it with me this time... since I'm always alone up here when it happens." You said.
Kokichi grinned and nodded. "Of course you wanted me to be here. Who wouldn't?"
"I can name a few."
Kokichi gasped. "YOU'RE SO MEAN!!"
You chuckled and lied down, resting your head in his lap. "Kokichi?"
"Hm?"
"In all seriousness... you know I'd keep you safe with or without powers, right?"
"Yeah yeah."
"And... when this is all over... would you...?"
"Would I?"
"...Never mind."
He looked down at you. "Don't keep secrets from me." You chuckled. "Too bad. You kept your whole hydraulic press plan secret from me."
Kokichi scoffed and leaned back. "You're the only person that can speak to me like that and live."
"Am I now?"
"Yeah. And probably Maki, to be honest."
"I was about to say..."
He smiled, looking away from you. After a while, he noticed that your breathing got steady and looked in his lap. You were asleep.
"Y/N, when we get out of this... you'll get the honour of being my partner."

Ruins of Dalághast
I've been writing for as long as I can remember, but I'd always been torn between different projects. That's why I decided to dedicate myself to a pretty strict schedule of writing and editing a single chapter every month since the start of 2019. This is an ongoing, work in progress novel that follows a ragtag group of sellswords as they delve into a lost city on the edge of the known world in search of their fortunes. Within, though, they find much more than they ever expected and find themselves in a race against time to unravel a mystery centuries old. For those who want to see my work months earlier than it will be released here, alongside exclusive artwork and other perks, consider supporting me and my work on Patreon. https://www.patreon.com/atlaswrites

Tale about fire
This tale starts like many others, with a slave boy that escaped and now seeks the power to never suffer in the hands of another again, with an unbalanced and cruel world where the strong rule and the weak serve, filled with natural dangers and opportunities to the ones that call themselves practitioners, the ones who seek the power of the Four. It follows as the disgusted by the world boy, resolved to change it by fire and destruction if needed find his way into the practitioners’ world in a search for true strength. Little the boy knew that his fate, or chains if you would, bounded him to so much more than just that. - I apologize in advance for any grammatical mistakes, part of why I’m writing this tale is to get better in the language. It’s also my first story so constructive criticism is appreciated.
