Testing fate
Part 17
*Selena's POV*
"Is everything set up?" I asked as they hooked my mic onto me.
"Yes Selena. Calm down. Everything is taken care of. All you have to do is go out there and sing," Justin said as they put his mic on him too.
"SELLY! JUSTIN!" Brayden yelled as he saw us and ran straight into our outstretched arms.
"Hey buddy. We missed you so much!" Justin said kissing his head.
"Why don't you show him the drum kit back stage before he has to go sit down for the show," I suggested.
"Does that sound like fun Bray?" He asked as Brayden's eyes widened and he rapidly nodded.
"Okay put these on," Jay said handing him the red Beats headphone. "Now just bang on them."
Brayden smiled banging on the drums as told when his 'parents' walked in.
"Thank you guys for doing this. He hasn't stopped talking about it and you for that matter," James said with a smile.
"We are happy to help. We love him. Are the other patients in the crowd yet?" I asked trying to change the subject cause even after all this time it was hard for me to talk about someone being my sons parents.
"Yeah, it's a full house," Leigh said as James wrapped his arm around her.
I nodded and looked back over at Brayden and Justin who are having so much fun, just the two of them in their own little world.
"Sel you're up next. You have like 10 minutes," Taylor said popping her head in.
I nodded and looked at my outfit in. The mirror one last time.
"You guys better get seated before she show starts. It's gonna be good," I said with a smile.

The nodded and got Bray's attention and went back to the floor of the arena.
"You ready?"Justin asked kissing my cheek after the chant and prayer was all done.
"Kinda nervous. I haven't performed in a while."
"You do amazing. Go kill 'em," he said pushed me out of stage.
I ran on stage smiled and waving as the crowd went wild. I did my introduction just being friendly with the crowd before it was finally time to perform.
"I wouldn't wanna be anybody else, hey
You made me insecure,
Told me I wasn’t good enough.
But who are you to judge
When you’re a diamond in the rough?
I’m sure you got some things
You’d like to change about yourself.
But when it comes to me
I wouldn’t want to be anybody else.
Na na na na na na na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na na na na na na na na
I’m no beauty queen
I’m just beautiful me," I sang happily running around the stage making eye contact with all the cancer patients in the audience.
After I sang my song I decided it would be best to mix it up and cover a song. So I sat down on a stool cause I was very tired for the performance with how much running around I was doing.
"I used to bite my tongue and hold my breath
Scared to rock the boat and make a mess
So I sat quietly, agreed politely
I guess that I forgot I had a choice
I let you push me past the breaking point
I stood for nothing, so I fell for everything
You held me down, but I got up
Already brushing off the dust
You hear my voice, you hear that sound

Like thunder gonna shake the ground
You held me down, but I got up
Get ready 'cause I’ve had enough
I see it all, I see it now
I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire
'Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Louder, louder than a lion
'Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
You’re gonna hear me roar," I sang happily as the crowd went wild jumping and singing along.
"Thank you so much!" I said before running back off the stage to let Taylor go on and sing a few of her songs.
*Justin's POV*
"Baby that was amazing!" I said picking her up and kissing her softly.
"You really think so?" she asked nervously.
"It was perfect. The kids loved it!"
She let out a breath smiling and we walked for a moment about Brayden and how the performance was for her before Taylor went off stage and it was my turn to go on.
I sent out and talked to the crowd and sang Be Alright and Never Say Never.
Once I was done with mine we had a special little treat in store for the kids.
"Did you have fun tonight?" I asked as everyone screamed yes.
"Well we have one last song but I need help singing it. If you guys scream loud enough Selena will come out and help me sing. Are you ready?" I asked as they began to chant.
After a couple of rounds of the chant Selena come on stage with her microphone.
"You can be amazing
You can turn a phrase into a weapon or a drug
You can be the outcast
Or be the backlash of somebody’s lack of love
Or you can start speaking up
Nothing’s gonna hurt you the way that words do
When they settle ‘neath your skin
Kept on the inside and no sunlight
Sometimes a shadow wins
But I wonder what would happen if you
Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave
With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave," we sang together alternating parts.
"Everybody’s been there,
Everybody’s been stared down by the enemy
Fallen for the fear
And done some disappearing,
Bow down to the mighty
Don’t run, stop holding your tongue
Maybe there’s a way out of the cage where you live
Maybe one of these days you can let the light in
Show me how big your brave is
Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave
With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave," we sang to the crowd.
"We love you!" Selena said running off the stage followed by me.
As soon as we were off stage I crashed my lips onto her kissing her meaningfully.
"I love you Selena," I said staring into her eyes.

Faeos Book One: The Stuff of Legends
A ragtag assemblage of adventurers, scraped together by seeming circumstance, investigate the theft of an ecologically essential artifact. In so doing, they find themselves embroiled (as adventurers so often do) in the larger machinations of a mischevious gnome, a determined mage or three, and a dire threat to their homes. Based on a homebrew Pathfinder campaign begun several years ago, and still running. Faeos is one part combat, one part character building, and one part entirely justified silliness. Blame any lead character weirdnesses on my players, whom I love. Blame everything else on me. Oh, and yes, this should also be tagged "Unreliable Narrator."
