there is a beautiful thing inside you
that is thousands of years old
too old to be captured in poems
too old to be loved by everyone
but loves so very deeply
by a chose few
~nikita gill
today you didn't have class so you decided to go the bookstore to look for poetry books. you always had a thing for poetry, trying to interpret what the poet is trying to say always was fun to you.
you were currently walking down the street to you local bookstore and coffee shop. you watched the people and cars go by as you walked on the side walk.
once you reached the bookstore you walked in and were greeted by the smell off coffee and old books. you walked up to the coffee stand and ordered a latte, as you were waiting for your coffee you feel your phone ring. you look at caller i'd and see that it's spencer calling you, you smile before answering the phone.
"hello" you say into the phone
"hey uhm i got caught up at work and completely forgot that we were supposed to have a meeting today" he says.
you had completely forgotten that you wrote supposed to meet with him, if you had of remembered you would have emailed him if he needed to reschedule.
"don't worry i forgot too, uhm i know that you are on call all the time but would any day this week work for you" you ask "if not i can meet you somewhere" you say
the barista looks at you and puts your coffee on the counter and thank him before walking to a seat. once you sit down you take a sip of your coffee.
"do you think you could come over my house" he asks
you choke on your coffee as you hear his words, you put your coffee down on the table and grab some napkins to clean up the coffee dripping down your chin.
"y/n are you ok" he asks concern lacing his voice
"yeah" you say through the a cough "sorry i just choked on my coffee" you say "uhm that's fine if you could just text me the address that would be fine" you say wiping up your mess on the table.

"sure, see you soon" he says
"bye" you say before hanging up
you quickly get up and walk over to the book section picking out a random poetry book. you walk back to the counter and check out, before walking out of the book store.
the journey back to your house was fairly quick seeing as though you lived five minutes away.once your go to your apartment you ran upstairs to your apartment quickly unlocking the door, you quickly walk in and shut the door and change your shirt. you put on a black cropped spaghetti strapped shirt and a big white cable knit sweater.
once your finished you quickly grab your bag, computer, poetry book, and keys before walking out of the house. you run down the stairs to get to your parking garage, you quickly walk to your car and get in. you check your phone for directions to his house and peel out of the parking lot into the street.
on the way to spencers you listen too classical music to calm your nerves. you hum along to the familiar tunes of the music as you drive through the traffic.
after fifteen minutes you finally arrive at spencer's apartment building. you find a spot in the parking lot and park your car. you grab the bag with your laptop in it and grabbed your phone before getting out of your car, as you walked to the door your locked it and walked into the building.
spencer lived on the top floor, seeing as though the elevator did not work you had to walk up four flights of stairs. as you're walking you text spencer to tell them that you're here in which he quickly responds saying that the door is unlocked.
once you reach his floor you walk up to the door and knock quietly before walking in. as soon as you walk in you are welcomed with the smell of old books and coffee, just like the bookshop.
"hey y/n" you see spencer come from his kitchen to the door way where you're standing.
"hey spencer" you say giving him a small smile
"please come in" he says gesturing towards his living room. you both walk in and sit on the brown leather couch that sits in the middle of his living room.

"i am so sorry about the last minute meeting i got cau- " you cut him off quickly "spencer it's fine. i was off work today and had no classes so this worked out perfectly" you say giving him a reassuring smile
"ok, uhm would you like anything to drink" he asks, you can see he's nervous by the way he keeps moving his hands and by the way he's bouncing his leg.
"im fine" you say "what did you want to talk about" you ask pulling your computer out of your bag ready to type anything he says.
"tomorrow's lesson plan" he says "tomorrow we'll be talk about aileen wuornos and her murders, first we will dive into her childhood life and her stressor" he says
after a while you had stopped talking about the lesson plan and start talking about other things, like random facts about anything from television to the brain.
"did you know that listening to classical music can help increase dopamine secretion, which activates the brains reward and pleasure center" he says eating his lo mein
"i did not" you say before eating some of your honey chicken " but i do i face know how to play the piano" you say smiling at him
"oh really" he says shocked "i can too but i only know one song" he says looking down
"what song is it" you ask interested at his statement
"smile of a child by paul reeves" he says looking at you "six years ago we had a case where a kid who had autism's parents were kidnapped right in front of him and he couldn't do anything about it" he says clearing his throat before speaking again "he played that song on the piano a lot, he communicated with me through the song and i haven't forgotten how to play it ever since. after the case i bought a keyboard and set it up but i haven't touched it " he says pointing to the keyboard
you get off of the couch and walk over to the keyboard wiping the dust off of it. you sit down in the stool in front of it and start to play the song, letting your fingers hit each key perfectly. you see spencer get up and sits next to you on the stool. he moves your hand and replace it with his playing the lower notes.
as you both play you can help but smile, you look at him noticing how effortlessly he plays the notes. you turn your attention back to the keyboard as the song comes to an end. you play the last couple of notes before removing your fingers from the keys.
you look down at the keyboard before you feel spencer's hand under your chin, he turns you to look at him. your faces are inches apart you can feel his breath on your face.
"you amazing me you know" he says looking straight into your eyes "there's just something about you that makes you different and i want to figure it out but i can't do that unless you let me" he says
"i could say that same about you dr. reid, i don't know what you've been through or what you've seen but i can tell that it was bad and that you're doing you're best to hide it but i can see your hurt" you say looking into his eyes "i don't know but there's something inside of me telling me to help you heal but like you said i can only do that if you let me"
"ok" he says softly
"ok"

ahhhhh hi guys
we're getting somewhere with y/n and reid's relationship and i'm so excited. i'm really in love with the whole aesthetic of this book and how it's going to go. it's going to be very soft and fluffy because both characters are broken, reid just got out of prison and y/n has just had the biggest heartbreak of her life but that's not al for y/n there's still a lot of stuff that needs to be explained and that will be explained later on in the book. anyways enough of my rambling, i really hope you guys enjoyed tbh's chapter
love,

Nowhere Stars
For as long as anyone can remember, humans have been preyed upon by Harbingers, living nightmares which devour dreams and passions and souls, and defended by Keepers. These children alone hold the gift of magic, the wild and wondrous ability to impose emotions over reality and empower their frail bodies with the splendor of their souls. Under their protection, humanity was able to survive and thrive. While modern Keepers have come to enjoy a social position somewhere between celebrities and religious idols, very few accept the mantle simply to be a hero. The Messengers of the Goddess Claiasya, spirits charged with awakening the magic in suitable souls, promise that Keepers who consume and purify enough Harbingers will obtain the power to change themselves or the world in nearly any way they wish. It’s for this purpose that Liadain Shiel, a young girl born terminally ill, throws herself into life as a Keeper when her opportunity comes, hoping against hope to rewrite her fate and save her life while she still can. But magic wants its wielders to grow and change, not simply continue living, and the secrets swimming beneath the sea and behind the sky have lives and designs of their own. Nowhere Stars is an ongoing fantasy-horror web novel about traumacore magical girls, nightmares clothed in ribbons and lace, alienation from reality, and broken children twisting the world into whatever shape they must to make their dreams come true. This is a mirror of Nowhere Stars' home site, located here. Updates will be posted at the same time, currently once a week on Wednesdays. Support Nowhere Stars on Top Web Fiction here!
