《As You Wish : Loki Fanfic》Cashews and Strawberries

I didn't sleep... I couldn't. Not that I was getting much sleep anyway. Not since Prague.
I paced my room for a while and when that got boring I went to the training room. I needed to keep busy. Just knowing that I was almost done, knowing that in two days I wouldn't be the enemy anymore, it gave me too much energy. Nervous energy, excited energy, I was just jittery and couldn't stop.
After about three hours of training, the Winter Soldier came in. I looked over to him as he walked up to me. His eyes were almost like Bucky's, but not quite. They were still too cold.
"You're upset." He commented. I stood up straight and rolled my shoulders out.
"I'm not upset, I'm just... worried." I protested with a bit of a pout.
"Why?" The Soldier asked.
"Just hoping everything pans out ok, that's all." I told him. The Soldier thought about it for a moment before responding.
"Are you scared?" He asked. It surprised me. He usually never asked about my feelings, or wants. It wasn't like the Soldier, but it was like Bucky.
"A bit." I smiled sadly and started to unwrap the tape on my hands.
"What about you?" I asked even though I thought I already knew the answer.
"No." The Soldier said. I chuckled and looked down to my hands.
"Ya, I figured that much." I sighed with a small smile. "Come on, let's go steal some snacks from the Brick. I'm getting hungry." I told the Soldier and started for the exit.
I was able to grab us cashews, an entire bag of Hawaiian rolls, and, best of all, strawberries. We hardly ever had fresh fruit here. I teleported back to my room with a smile on my face. The Soldier didn't even blink when I suddenly appeared right in front of him. He was used to me appearing and disappearing at random times. It used to really freak him out, but he didn't even bat an eye anymore.

"Look what I got us!" I squealed and held up the strawberries. He glanced at them before looking at the other two items I was holding and grabbed the jar of the cashews. "Really? You're not even a little excited over the deliciousness that is strawberries?" I teased.
"No." He told me and took a seat in a chair as he ate the cashews. I shrugged and sat on the bed facing him.
"More for me." I said as I opened the lid and started eating.
When we finished the food it was almost morning. There was about an hour, or two, before daylight.
Two more days. I just had do get through two more days. As long as Bucky didn't reveal that he remembered too early, we would be free. I could get him into Wakanda early to remove the trigger words and make sure Civil War never happened. I just needed to wait two more days.
The next day was boring. All I did the whole day was pace in my room while the Soldier sat and watched me. It wasn't until almost eight pm that we were told Secretary Pierce wanted to see us. We were to go alone and meet at his house. He didn't have the time to come to the base. He also didn't know if he was being tracked or not.
So, the Winter Soldier and I left to meet with Pierce. When we got to his house we walked around back. His house was large with lots of floor to ceiling windows.
I teleported into the house and unlocked the back door for the Soldier. He closed it behind him softly and sat at the small round table in the corner. There was still a housekeeper in the house and we couldn't tip them off that we were there. I moved to lean on the brick wall next to the Soldier as we waited for Pierce.

Secretary Pierce got home at eleven thirty pm. I could hear his shoes on the wood floor as he came into the kitchen where the Soldier and I were. Pierce didn't see us at first and walked straight to the fridge. He opened the fridge and got out a carton of milk before turning and spotting us.
"I'm going to go, Mr. Pierce." A heavily accented woman's voice called out. "You need anything before I leave?"
I kicked off the wall and slowly walked to the island, opposite Pierce.
"No...Uh, it's fine, Renata, you can go home." Pierce called to her as he watched me. I reached over to the end of the island and picked up Renata's phone. I didn't want to have to kill her because she forgot it. I handed it to Pierce and gestured towards the door with my head.
"Ok, night-night." Renata called from the hallway. Pierce took the phone and turned to walk out of the kitchen.
"Oh, wait, Renata. Don't forget your phone." He called after her once he rounded the corner.
I made my way back over to the Soldier and leaned on the wall again. Pierce came back a minute later and walked back to the island.
"Good catch." He told me as he turned to a cabinet. "Want some milk?"
The Soldier and I stayed quiet. Pierce raised an eyebrow at us before filling his glass.
"The timetable has moved." Pierce started. "Our window is limited. Two targets, level Six." He said and walked over to sit opposite the Soldier. "They already cost me Zola." Pierce sighed. "I want confirmed death in ten hours."
"Ten hours to take down two Avengers?" I asked and pushed off from the wall.
"You've already said you could take down Rogers. And both of you with our task force? I'm sure you won't even need ten hours." Pierce commented.
"Right." I said tightly.
"Having second thoughts?" Pierce asked. "Do I have to remind you who made you? That you're an enemy to them?"
"No." I said. "No second thoughts, no regrets, no need to remind me." I told him.
"Good, cause I'd hate to loose an asset like you." Pierce said and took a sip from his cup. The way he said 'asset' sent chills through me.
"So, our targets," I changed the subject. "Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanoff, correct?"
"Yep." Pierce nodded. "And I'm assuming you already know where they are."
"No," I lied. "But I know where they're going to be."
"Good, then go. I'll give you two units for backup." Pierce told us and stood up. "Ten hours." He reminded us as he walked away.
The Soldier and I made it back to base and went to prepare. I took a shower while the Soldier went and got us food. When I was done, I changed back into my suit and opened my weapons kit. I made sure to have all my favorite weapons on me for today. Today was special. Today was the day my plan worked.
