《As You Wish : Loki Fanfic》Paper Trail

I woke up sick to my stomach the next morning. I quickly teleported to the bathroom before throwing up all the contents of my stomach. The acid burned my throat and my head throbbed behind my eyes. When I was finally able to take a full breath without dry heaving, I stood up, flushed the toilet, and brushed my teeth.
There was no way I was going to be able to get back to sleep, so instead I turned the shower on and undressed to start the long day I knew I was going to have. Before I got into the shower, I glanced in the mirror and froze. There, below my bellybutton, was the beginning of a baby bump. It was so small, but I noticed. I stared in the mirror for an hour yesterday while I was getting ready for the party, but I didn't notice a bump then.
I rested my hand over the slight bump and smiled.
"You better be worth it." I sarcastically said and dropped my hand.
When I got out of the shower, I wrapped myself in a towel and walked out of the bathroom to see that it was still dark out. The bed was empty and I felt bad knowing that I probably woke Loki up. I got dressed in some sleep shorts and an oversized shirt before grabbing my phone and looking at the time. It was only just after five AM.
I tucked my phone away in my pocket as I went looking for Loki. The bond from my ring told me that he was close. As I walked down the hallway, I smelled something sweet that made my stomach very happy. I followed the scent into the kitchen to see Loki waiting for me.
"I made us hot chocolate." He told me with a smile. I walked over to where he was standing at the island and wrapped my arms around him.

"I love you." I sighed when he hugged me back.
"And I you, Dearheart." He told me and kissed the top of my head. I tilted my head back and he leaned down to kiss my lips softly.
"I'm sorry for waking you up." I said and laid my head against his chest again.
"I'm quite used to your bursts of insomnia by now, Kitten." He told me as he ran his fingers up and down my back.
"We don't have long until the next fight." I said absentmindedly.
"I've said it before and I'll say it now, we don't have to fight."
"Don't act like you don't love the chaos." I teased. Loki pulled back a bit and tilted my head up to look at him.
"Only when you're not wrapped up in it." He told me seriously. My smile fell and I pushed his hand away as I looked away from him.
"I can't sit back." I said. "I'm already letting terrible things happen, the least I can do is be just as involved as everyone else."
"I know." Loki sighed. "I know, I'm sorry." He told me and placed his hand on my cheek, his thumb rubbing against my cheekbone. "Come on, you don't want your drink to get cold."
The next few hours Loki and I spent on the couch together. He read 'Pride and Prejudice' to me while I laid tucked safely between his side and the couch.
By seven AM, it was time to join the rest of the team. I dressed in jeans but stayed in my t-shirt. Everyone was already in Tony's lab by the time Loki and I arrived.
"About time you two awoke from your beauty sleep." Tony teased as we walked in.
"Ya, you must be lacking on yours, cause, yikes!" I shot back.
"Alright," Tony sighed. "I walked into that one. I would tell you the news, but I'm sure you already know." He said.

"Strucker?" I asked.
"Yep." Tony said, popping the 'p' loudly.
"What about Strucker?" Loki asked.
"Ultron took him out of the equation... permanently." I told him.
"What does he get by killing him?" Loki questioned.
"Silence." Steve responded.
"Alright, so where does that leave us?" Loki asked.
"Back at square one." Nat sighed. "Ultron wiped everything we had on Strucker, too."
"Not everything." Steve said. "We have S.H.I.E.L.D.'s paper files."
"Great." Tony grumbled.
"And, since this is your mess, why don't you play fetch, Stark." Loki taunted.
"Now that is a great idea, Loki." Steve joined and turned to Tony. "And hurry, we don't have all day."
Tony begrudgingly went to go get the boxes while the rest of us waited. Tony brought back three of the many boxes on Strucker and set them down on the table before going to get the others. While he did that, I quickly found the file we needed on the arms dealer, Klaw, before sitting back and watching as everyone started searching through files. Tony came back with two more boxes before going back for the last two. When Tony was finally done bringing up all the boxes, he grabbed the nearest one and started going through it.
"Baron Strucker had a lot of friends." Steve mentioned at the look of all the boxes.
"Well, these people are all horrible." Bruce sighed. "Do we even know what we're looking for?"
"Yep." I said and held up the file.
"How long have you had that?" Tony asked.
"As long as it took you to bring up all the boxes." I told him before giving an innocent smile. Nat and Loki both snorted laughter.
"I hate you." Tony said, but I knew he didn't. I rolled my eyes at him before teleporting him the file. He huffed and begrudgingly opened the file. "I knew this guy." Tony mentioned when he looked at the file. "Black market arms dealer."
As Tony handed off the file so everyone else could see, he caught Steve's accusatory look.
"There are conventions. All right? You meet people. I didn't sell him anything." Tony explained.
"Well, you didn't." I mumbled. Tony crumpled a piece of paper from the table and threw it at me. "Hey!" I laughed.
"Obadiah didn't either, as far as I know." Tony told me. I put my hands up in surrender. "He was talking about finding something new, a game changer. It was all very Ahab." Tony turned to tell everyone about Klaw.
"What's this?" Thor asked and pointed to the picture. I knew he was pointing at a symbol burned into Klaw's neck.
"It's a brand you get when you steal from Wakanda." I told them. "It means thief, just not as kindly."
"Wakanda?" Steve repeated.
"If this guy got out of Wakanda with some of their trade goods..." Tony turned and said to Steve.
"I thought your father said he got the last of it." Steve responded.
"Daddy lied." I chimed in. Both of their heads snapped to me.
"I don't follow." Bruce said. "What comes out of Wakanda?"
"The strongest metal on earth." Tony told him.
"Wrong again." I said. "Come on, Stark, you're better than this." I teased.
"What do you mean?" Steve asked me. I sighed and glanced at him.
"Vibranium is the strongest material in the world. It's versatile. That's what makes it so dangerous."
