《Room Mates (NaLu)》Chapter 24 ~ Isle of flightless birds

"What the hell?" Said Natsu as he reached into the safe and carefully pulled out the contents.
He laid them out on the table;
A fountain pen and a battered notebook.
"W-wheres the letter?" Stuttered the shocked Igneel, picking up the book and flicking through it.
Evidently, it was empty.
"Oh my God." I sighed, raking my sweaty hands through my hair.
Zeref pulled the safe towards him, picking at the edges inside trying to find something more.
"No, this can't be it." He said, not wanting to believe that was all. "A pen and a book? You said this contained a letter that was dangerous! Way to get me excited for nothing..." He muttered.
Natsu's and Igneel were still shocked.
"Y-you mean all this was for nothing." Igneel stuttered, his eyes wide, staring at the now empty safe.
"Wow..." Natsu's puffed, sinking his head into his arms that lay on the table. "I don't believe it."
Mavis tried perking up the mood as she walked the table with a pot of tea that she had somehow magically made in the split of 30 seconds.
"Hey, this is a good thing." She said, placing the tray on the table and taking a seat again. "Just think, now we don't have to worry about any dangerous thing that Crimson Scale can get their scrawny little hands on."
I started to nod in agreement. This was a good thing.
Natsu lifted his head from the table, taking a mug and pouring in the steamy tea that was brewing.
"So after everything, Crimson sent me a poisoned letter saying they would give me my Dad in exchange for a key that opens a safe with a useless notebook inside?" Said Natsu.
We all nodded our heads -- Natsu replied with a 'Hmm'
The night consisted of us soaking in the events of the long day and talking about the wonders of the useless notebook and pen. It was interesting, but of course, soon came to a close.
Natsu gave his father a firm hug, paying back for the year-full he had lost. I said my goodbyes to Mavis and Zeref, before switching with Natsu and saying goodbye to Igneel. He pulled me in for a hug which I accepted, but as we were pulling away he stopped.

"You're an amazing girl for Natsu. I hope you know that." Igneel whispered, a bright smile spread across his face -- one that completely contrasted his look earlier today.
I couldn't help but smile back, feeling my face redden a little at the compliment.
"If anything, I'm lucky to have a guy like him." I replied sincerely.
Eventually, Natsu and I were heading out the door and toward that car that sat in the darkness of the driveway -- Now that night had come, we were both tired and couldn't wait to get home. Natsu carried the safe under his arm, whilst rummaging in his pocket for his keys. The car unlocked with a click, and we both slid in.
"Today has been..." Started Natsu as he booted up the car and started to pull out of the drive.
"...Eventful." I finished, waving toward Mavis, Zeref and Igneel who stood in the doorway to see us off.
I looked back around to Natsu who was looking at me smiling.
"What?" I said, starting to blush.
"Nothing. I've just missed looking at your beautiful face." He said, now looking back toward the road.
I smiled as I looked down at my legs. How random.
"Thankyou Lucy." He said, peeling his eyes from the road again for a split second, allowing him to lock with mine. "...For today. I couldn't have done this without you."
"I'd do anything for you Natsu." I said with out realising. I turned to see him looking back at the road with a slight blush across his face.
My smile widened as I looked back down, fiddling with the hem of my t-shirt. The car became silent; a comfortable silence however -- Just the sound of tyres on the road.
"I'm so happy my dad is okay." Natsu said, breaking the quiet.
"I'm sure you are. I am too." I replied, moving my hand from my shirt to his hand that was on the gear stick. "You should tell Wendy as soon as you get the chance. I'm sure she would want to know."
"Yeh, I will definitley."
After a long drive deeper into the darkness of night, we were finally home. The pair of us tumbled into the dorm, threw our bags to the side and flopped into Natsu's bed. Tomorrow was school and I was dreading it.

"OH MY GOD NATSU THIS IS NOT SOMETHING TO LIE ABOUT. WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT!" Yelled an angry Wendy as she hit Natsu's chest over and over. She was only small so her punches were painless to Natsu.
Natsu had just told her about Igneel and the events over the weekend. He told her how Igneel was staying at my aunt and uncles and was being dropped home today.
"Wendy I'm being serious! Dad is back and he is okay!" Natsu said calmly, holding Wendy's shoulders and pushing her swinging arms away from him.
She stopped punching and looked up at him.
"You're serious?" Wendy said quietly, her eyes starting to well up.
Natsu nodded, pulling her in for a careful hug as tears started to fall down her cheeks.
We were in the library.
Me and Levy were on duty sat behind the check-in desk, watching Natsu and Wendy's talk.
"I can't believe any of this." Levy stated, staring at the pair infront of us.
"Yeh, it's pretty shocking." I replied.
"I mean, I've known Natsu for nearly a year now and he never mentioned this to any of us." She carried on, now turning to face me.
"I guess he's not very open about these things... but now we all know."
Earlier at lunch, Natsu and I had told the others about yesterday along with the events of Natsu's father being missing. Everyone was pretty shocked but happy for Natsu's dad being back and okay.
"I can't believe it! When can I see him?!" Wendy took mine and Levy's attention once again as she fired questions at Natsu.
"I don't know. He's just got home so maybe give him some time to recover and go this weekend?" Suggested Natsu, as she starting to walk toward me and Levy, dragging Wendy with him.
"Great!" Said Wendy, throwing a thumbs up in the air.
Natsu reached the desk and pulled a chair over to sit with us as Wendy left to go meet up with Romeo.
"Hey Levy how far have you and Gajeel got with that whole project thing that Guildarts set?" Natsu asked as he placed his arms on the desk and slotted his head in between them.
"Oh, we've done about 10 pages or so. We haven't had that much going on so we've only really filled in from the day we had that sleepover at Erza's." Levy said.
"Woah." Natsu turned to me. "We really need to get some stuff done" He laughed, knowing we had still only done a front cover.
"We have a problem. It's called procrastination and Netflix." I joked, causing Natsu and Levy to laugh.
Soon the bell rang, signalling the end of the long day and the contents of the library poured out.
"So what are we doing tonight Luce?" Asked Natsu as he draped his arm across my shoulders and pulled me towards him.
"I'm meeting up with Lisanna tonight remember?" I remind him, leaving him with a sad pouting face.
"So you're gonna leave your lonely boyfriend all alone?" He said, continuing his sad face.
I laughed whilst placing my head in the crook of his warm neck.
"Sorry Natsu." I said, bringing a small kiss to his cheek as we travelled toward the schools exit.
"OI! NO PDA IN THE HALLWAYS!" Called a voice from the end of the hall. We looked to see Mr.Happy stood outside his door shaking his head and pointing his finger accusingly.
Me and Natsu left with a 'Tsk'.

Me eyes scanned the mirror as I stared at my reflection. After applying some light make-up and getting dressed, I was ready to go out with Lisanna.
I was wearing a simple outfit; a pink tank top, paired with a black skirt and over the knee socks. I felt confident in what I was wearing and smiled at myself. Next, I slipped on a pair of heels and walked into the kitchen to grab my keys.
"You look amazing Luce," Said a soft voice as warm arms wrapped around my waist. Natsu placed his head on my shoulder, leaving a few kisses shy from my neck. "Have a great time tonight, okay?"
"I will. See you later, I won't be back too late." I smiled, sliding out from his grasp and picking up my purse and keys. I walked out the door, throwing a quick wave to Natsu before heading to my car.

A Titan's Crusade
Erik Thayne spent most of his life being brutally ridiculed and tormented for his weight and physical appearance, among other things. A social pariah and diagnosed with an eating disorder no one has an explanation or treatment for, Erik spent years trying to overcome his issues with his personal image and escape the ridicule and vicious torment of his peers. After years of dedicated effort, and a fresh start in a town away from his childhood and adolescent tormentors, he had finally begun to truly realize what he'd been striving for all along. Only, fate apparently has other plans because in the blink of an eye, Erik found himself snatched from Earth and taken to another universe, another world, where he is offered the chance to be more than he'd ever imagined. Now, he has to fight to restore the Balance between Chaos and Order on a world of swords and magic, in a universe governed by the System's laws, which resemble those of RPGs from Earth. Erik learned to embrace the things about himself that others taught him to hate, using them to reforge his physical identity into something more removed from his old self-loathing. But can he learn to embrace the darkest parts of his mind just as he did the reviled aspects of his body and become who he needs to be to succeed in the task set before him? It might just prove easier to stalk in the dark as a monster than to walk in the light as a man... *This is my first time publishing anything I've written to a public audience. Due to formatting issues, I forwent traditional stat-screens for something a little less problematic, delineating stat screens by separating them from regular text with horizontal lines in a lighter-grey coloration. Let me know if you like them or not. Criticism is entirely welcome, but please don't hate on my work after only reading 1 chapter. This is a writing project I intend to complete but I have committment problems so we'll see how long this goes on. Also, fair warning, as the description implies, the main protagonist is intended to be someone who has been treated cruelly, developed antisocial tendencies, and ultimately has to question his own humanity--or lack thereof. This story is not intended to be brutally dark but I will definitely be trying to follow a darker theme. It is intended to be violent and some scenes later in the story might be...alarming. There will likely also be some light, non-graphic (think more implied with crude jokes and conversation than actual details, there will be no full-blown sex scenes)relationship scenes planned later and if you're opposed to either a bisexual or gay main character, stay away. I haven't yet decided which way he's going to swing but the odds on him being straight are relatively miniscule, and I've always wanted to write a story about a gay man who basically looks like a lumberjack because who doesn't like giving conventional stereo-types the middle finger? This will NOT be a harem story, and I have no intention to focus on romance over action--it's a consequence of character development where I'm concerned, not the be-all-end-all of the story. The cover-art does not, in any way, belong to me. It was an image titled the Druid King (by duskanmarkovic according to the file name) which I found on Google Images. Until I can get something commissioned, this is the best stand-in image I could find.
