Just because you recover from something, it doesn't mean that there aren't any bad days. The fear is still there eating inside of you, I'm not gonna lie and say that I'm not scared of putting on weight because I am.

I missed school today because of my doctors appointment with dr Gomez, it's kind of like a monthly check in. Anyway whenever I had these appointments with aunt Camila I'd dread it so fucking much, they ruined my day.

Dad and I are currently on our way home from todays appointment, I lift up my hood as I look out of the window. "You gained five pounds this week mi hija, I'm proud of you" He says softly

Later on I got home and dad left for work, he told me there were leftovers in the fridge but I can't be bothered to get up. I stayed on the couch scrolling through my phone until it started to ring, I sigh as I sit up. "Hey"

"Hey, June told me you had an appointment today" Carter says

"I did"

"How was it?"

I pick at my nails, "In my eyes or in my dads eyes?"

"Yours"

"It was horrible"

"Why?"

"I gained five pounds this week"

"That's good C, your doing better" He says softly

"Hm"

"Not Hm, your fucking beautiful and you know it"

I smile a little, "Thanks"

"Your welcome. You coming to mine later?"

"Yeah around six"

"Alright i'll see you then" Carter replies

"Later" I end the call before lying back

I should probably look for something to wear now

"Are you sure?" Stacey frowns

"My family aren't here" I assure her as she closes the front door

She still looked a little unconvinced until I took her hand and led her up the stairs. Staceys been over once, when none of my family were here. I hate having to do this and I still don't understand why'd she want to be with me even after all this shit, but like she said before 'If I have to keep it a secret then for you I will'

We hear a voice come from one of the bedrooms, "Yeah the twins are coming but I'm going with Carter"

Stacey widens her eyes, "It's only Carmen" I whisper

I open the door a little, confused as to how my older sister is even home right now. She's standing in front of her bed with her hair tied into a messy bun and a green face mask on. I can tell she's been here for awhile by the fact that she's got a sports bra on with some cycling shorts. She has her phone in hand, "I put on five pounds so I don't even know if these'll fit"

"I'm sure they will" I hear Sienna reply on loud speaker, Stacey bites the inside of her cheek as I open the door fully. My sister turns back before raising her eyebrows with surprise

"Si let me call you back" Carmen ends the call before tossing her phone aside

She then scoffs at me, "Well it's about time Lola"

Stacey frowns

I look back, "Stace this is Carmen.... She kind of knows"

She nods slowly

"That was a shit introduction. I'm Carmen, her favourite sibling"

"Debatable" I tut

"Keep telling yourself that-....You did good, she's hot" My sister tells me

Stacey smiles a little, "Thanks"

"How come your home?" I frown

She clears a few of the dresses laid out on her bed away, "Had an appointment, you guys can sit"

Stacey sits on the edge of the bed, "Are you going somewhere?" She asks

"Yeah, I'm going to a party. Which one do you guys think?"

She points at the first one, "Black would look good"

Carmen claps, "Good taste too, I like you already"

My girlfriend smiles as my sister continues to talk to her, I think she was kind of nervous before but not anymore. If only the rest of my family would treat her the same....

Carmen lifts up her hand, "Wait this bracelet is cute, can I wear it later?-

"Carmen" I scoff

Stacey unclasps the gold from her wrist, "No it's ok my dad bought me quite a few, here you can have it"

She puts it down besides her dress before getting up, "What a life saver. Ok I'm gonna shower, try not to fuck on my bed" My sister sings before shutting the bathroom door behind her

Stacey snorts, "Yeah.... She doesn't really have a filter"

She shrugs, "I like that"

I smile a little, "What happened to her neck though?" She then says amused

"Hickeys from her boyfriend that isn't hers"

"Ah, right"

Stacey is actually so sweet and nice, we have similar styles too so I might have to steal her from my little sister. Anyway she stayed for a bit and conversed with me and Lola whilst I was getting ready for the party, I learned that she moved here awhile ago with her family and she doesn't actually live that far from us. Lola walked her home afterwards so I was home alone for awhile.... Until I wasn't. Santi and Adri were all over the place whilst trying to get ready, I'm just happy that I beat them to it.

In the end my sister went with white since that's what she pulls off best

I ended up going with the black dress that Stacey chose for me.

Anyway I left before the twins since I'm going with Carter, I'm not taking my car: we already decided that he's gonna be designated driver. Maybe walking to his house was a bad choice though since I'm in heels....

Carter widens his eyes from behind the window and I smile as he opens the door. His eyes rake up and down my body as I walk passed him, "I take it you like the dress" I say amused

"Not the dress, the body in it" He corrects as he follows me to the kitchen

"Well you don't look so bad yourself Miller" He grins in return

Did I mention that I love it when he wears cargos? Well I'm saying it now, "Did you eat?" He then asks

"Uhhh, yeah-

Carter narrows his eyes at me as Melissa sets down a bowl of pasta, I frown at her. "I know who I'm dealing with"

"In my defence, I had breakfast"

"And now dinner, eat up" She replies before going back into her office

I twirl my fork around the pasta as he cups his chin in his hand, "We'll go when you've devoured everything"

"Yeah yeah"

"You look beautiful by the way"

I give him a quick kiss before eating

I finished my food and it was time for Carter and I to leave..... but then Melissa decided to stop us at the last second, I really wish we kept going. "Wait"

"For what?" Carter scoffs

She looks back at the stairs and as if on cue, a black haired girl who's all dressed up walks down. Carter frowns and I narrow my eyes with confusion, I really hope this isn't what I think it is.

" I don't get it" I finally say

Maya tucks a hair behind her ear, "Oh.... Melissa thought that it would be a good idea for me to come"

Carter nods slowly, "Look out for her" Melissa says to her son

"Who's gonna watch Grace?" I say confused

"I will"

Honestly I don't know where she even got this idea from, but I don't like it. I mean seriously, it's already clear that she likes Carter and this just doesn't make things any better. I turn around before opening the front door, "Cool.... See you later" I walk out first before making my way over to Carters car

It's quite windy today, I probably should've bought a jacket but oh well. The others follow me out shortly before getting into the car, Maya gets in at the back and I the front. Carter closes his door before looking at me, "You good?"

I keep my eyes ahead as I sit back, "Ecstatic"

Instead of replying he starts the engine, "So.... Where is this party?" Maya fills the silence

"At a guy from our schools house" He answers

"Oh ok" She sits back and I mentally roll my eyes

You know it was kind of like I wasn't even there, Maya talks.... A lot. I don't even remember half of the irrelevant shit that she was saying to Carter but I just couldn't wait for him to park, I swear I even caught him laugh at some point. Now I'm not gonna go out of my way and say that I'm jealous of a seventeen year old..... but I will continue to say that she definitely likes him.

Thankfully we made it to Logan's house whilst she was in the middle of telling him about this perv from her school, "Hey why don't you wait outside, we'll be a sec"

Maya shrugs, "Ok" She gets out of the car and my eyes follow her as she does so

I watch as he gets out of the car and heads towards the house with Maya, she frowns as she looks back at me but eventually she follows him in. Ok maybe I do sound ridiculous but can you blame me?

You know at first I asked myself why I felt the need to be so rude to Carter.... But then when I felt something I sort of realised what caused the sudden change in mood.

I widen my eyes as I sit back, "Oh fuck" I whisper to myself

Logan's house was loud.

There was music blasting from speakers, LED lights all over the house and drinks scattered around everywhere. "Is everything ok with Carmen!" Maya shouts over the music

I put my cup down, "Yeah this is just one of her moments"

She frowns, "Her moments where she would get mad for no reason" I elaborate

In reality, Carmens just jealous of Maya but she doesn't need to know that. "Was it something I said?"

I sigh, "Trust me she'll get over it"

I don't think she's even listening to me anymore, matter of fact she's too busy staring. I look back at the brunette that she's currently got her eyes on before clocking on, he's conversing with a few guys in his grade. "Maya" I wave in her face and she looks back at me quickly

"Would you like me to introduce you?" I say amused

"No, don't be dumb.....I was just looking around"

I turn off my phone before sliding past the man himself -I wonder who that girl he's with is- and making my way outside. I spot Carters Mercedes' parked amongst the sea of cars, Carmen is sat inside with her head rested against the window. I frown as I open the door, "C?"

She looks at me almost immediately with teary eyes, "What happened?"

She sniffs as she lies against the headrest and I wipe her eyes, "Hey you'll ruin your hard work"

"I can't go in there" She panics

I frown, "Why not?"

"I'm bleeding through my fucking dress"

"Your period came back?" I ask softly

"This is literally the worst timing"

Obviously because of Carmens situation her period stopped for about two years, now it finally decided to grace her with its presence again. "Alright well I've got a few tampons but that probably won't be comfortable considering that your dress is coated in blood" You can't really see it since her dress is dark but still, I feel her pain

"No I wanna go home" My best friend replies

"Home?"

"Yes, home"

"No this is embarrassing"

"Well he needs to grow a pair because his daughter is gonna go through the exact same thing one day"

She sighs and I reach over to the backseat before picking up a sweater, "Tie this, I'll be right back"

Carmen picks up her phone as I get out of the car. When I head back inside I spot Carter right away, he's with Zoe and Aaron in the kitchen. "Hey" Zo smiles after seeing me

"What's wrong?" Aaron asks

"Ummm, Carmen wants to go" I say awkwardly

I gesture for him to walk with me, away from the others, "She got her period" I say lowly

"First time in two years, she's a little freaked out. I offered to take her-

"Hey can you tell Santi to get Maya an Uber home when she's ready to go?"

I nod slowly, "Ok, sure"

Period.... That makes so much more sense. I was starting to wonder why it was taking her so long to get out of the car. I've never actually been in this situation with Carmen since she never really had hers when she was with me in the past. But I do know that apparently day one is always the worst so I'm gonna try to make her happy for the rest of the night

She had her head rested against the window as I got into the car, "Hey"
