《Beyond Earth》Species Index: Dar'Whaki
Advertisement
Due to the lack of higher quality photos and video, we don’t quite know what the Dar’Whaki look like. However, we do know that they appear to be almost reptilian, not unlike the dinosaurs.
They have bony protrusions on their heads, with any number between two and five of them. Their faces hold mouths that are reminiscent of snapping turtles of all things.
Whatever these creatures’ home planet looks like, I would not want to visit. Any reason as to why they would evolve such features is more than enough reason for me to not want to go. We thought humanity evolved on a deadly world, these creatures must have evolved on a world at least three times as dangerous.
-Excerpt from Dar’Whaki: The Predators of the Galaxy by Alexander Grigoryan
Bussell> I can’t believe I got stuck with the graveyard shift today. I just want to sleep.
Mirle> You could say that again. I don’t think the amount of coffee I’ve drunk already is healthy for my body.
Bussell> You really should try this green tea I brought from home. It tastes way better than that bean juice.
Mirle> Whatever. You’re just jealous.
Indistinct chatter
Mirle> Haha! No way. You really think Richardson is going to win the election? She’s just a representative from Montana.
Bussell> Yeah! Besides, it’s her or that shithead, Tyler. You know, the former governor of-- was it Maryland? Yeah, Maryland.
Mirle> Alright, if you say so.
Bussell> Hey. We’ve got something up on radar. It doesn’t look like much though.
Mirle> It’s probably just a small asteroid. There shouldn’t be anything else out in this backwater.
Bussell> Yeah, probably. It’s still like 200 clicks out. You want to bet on what it is?
Mirle> That’s easy money right there. 50 bucks says it’s an asteroid maybe ten feet across.

Bussell> Deal. I bet it’s a Mursk ship doing some sort of research.
Mirle> Dude, you’re on. I wonder what I should get with my extra fifty bucks. Maybe a nice meal?
Bussell> Whatev-- huh? What’s that? I’m picking up two signatures on radar.
Mirle> Let me see. What? That’s odd.
Mirle> Oh shi--

-Audio Log (Corrupted), Ajax 1 Crew
We have just had what I have been told is a Close Encounter of the Fifth Kind with these ‘Mursk.’
I’m not going to lie, I was not expecting something like this to happen for a few years. We met the Jiwa a decade ago and then the Kruus four years ago. But, if there are even more aliens than just these, then I would be surprised if we don’t hear from the rest of them soon.
When I was talking with my great-aunt about them, I swear her face flushed to be just like the Mursk faces! She mentioned how my great-uncle once claimed to have been abducted by aliens who looked like that years ago. I don’t know if I can believe her though.
Anyways, we have been monitoring the spacelanes that have been established to Earth since the Jiwa started talking to us. It’s not the most interesting work, but at least it pays relatively well. I will say one thing though. This is definitely not what I was expecting when I signed up for the Space Corp.
The Jiwa, Kruus, and now the Mursk, have mentioned something about these other aliens who are supposedly really dangerous. I think they called them… Ah shit. I can’t remember. It was something similar to some people in a show my grandparents watched in their time. It was about some game regarding these seats or something. I couldn’t tell you for sure since I never watched it.

The other aliens are saying that Earth is pretty close to their territory, and I guess they are pretty tribalistic in the sense they consider their space to be sacred. It kinda reminds me of Uncle Dale with how much he cares about his workshop!
I heard these aliens were some ugly-- Huh? The alarm is going off. That’s odd. Wait. Oh God! Incoming fire! Oh--
-Audio Diary Entry of an Engineer on the U.N.S.C. Argentina
The Dar’Whaki are the most deadly and lethal creatures in the galaxy.
Not much is known about them because every ship sent to explore Dar’Whaki space has never returned. All we have is what remains of the video log they sent back from 800 light-years away. The video and audio we received was distorted, most likely due to interference from large gravity wells. But, it only added to the cries as their ship was obliterated by the aliens.
Aliens.
That’s what they are, even more so than the Jiwa or Mursk or Kruus.
We have lost 27 people on these missions from the Ajax Program -- the second program assembled by the United Nations Space Corps to explore the vast and far off reaches of space.
Of course, when the first ship to head off toward what we now know as Dar’Whaki space lost contact with Earth, what did we do? We sent another ship, and then another.
27 people. 27 innocent lives.
I led 27 people to their graves. At least, I hope they are dead. I can’t imagine what they would do to them if they were kept alive and tortured.
We were warned by the Jiwa. But we didn’t listen. Why would we? We thought we were invincible.
That’s what we get for naming the program after a man who killed himself, except in this case, we killed them. Their blood is on our hands.
We should have listened.

The crocs are going to get you tonight,
You better button up your clothes real tight!
Or else the crocs are going to get you tonight.
They’ll bite into your chest,
They’ll eat your toes,
Figure out which eye is best,
Pray they’ll only take an eye and your nose,
The crocs are going to eat you tonight!
That sound you hear with your ear,
That feeling you’re feeling without a doubt,
You can feel the fear,
Be careful not to shout,
The crocs are going to scare you tonight!
The crocs are going to get you tonight,
You better stay close to your mom,
Or else the crocs are going to get you tonight!

Homicidal Aliens are Invading and All I Got is This Stat Menu
ON INDEFINITE HIATUS This story (and any others I write) now has a DISCORD! Thousands of people around the globe randomly find themselves "hosts" for alien technology that allows them to alter their minds and bodies in an instant through holographic menu systems. With the touch of a button, any of the hosts can become super strong, gain magical abilities, purchase a giant robot, or become a master in any of an almost infinite number of skills that range from advanced combat techniques to fidget-spinning. However, the hosts also become targets for nightmarish, shape-shifting creatures that have come to Earth following the newfound extraterrestrial tech. The menu systems can grant their hosts great power, but it may not be enough to survive the horde of murderous beings hunting them down.

Old Version - The First Magician
INDEFINITE HIATUS I always seem to make these too long when I ask for peoples opinions so I’m not gonna try an exciting description anymore but instead just give you an idea of what to expect. First off, this is my 2nd attempt at a story but my foundation for this one is much better than the 1st already and I see this going much further and so far its coming together much faster and easier. So please excuse me if things are not up to publishing standards. Also I tend to confuse your, you’re and so on so sorry to people that triggers ahead of time. The First Magician follows the story of 15 year old Alex in a post apocalyptic rpg-ish world in the near future. Earth was transformed, monsters appeared and people began being able to use Ki but could not figure out how to use magic. Alex ends up becoming the first human able to use magic through a series of events and sets in motion events that will change the very future of the human race. He will be somewhat OP simply because he is the only human (at least to start, who knows about later?) who is able to use mana. Many classic RPG elements have been removed. I didn’t want the story to be like all of the other lit rpg stories on RRL but it also makes the writing easier for me hence the watering down of rpg elements. UPDATES: I am doing this to relieve stress and for fun so I will release chapters when I can. So far though ive managed to keep up with 2 most days. CONTENT WARNINGS: There will be some light language but it won't be insane. I might have some gore later on but am unsure and the same for the sexual content. Sexual content isn't super likely as I doubt I can write it well but I put the tag so people cant yell about it if I add some in the future but forgot to add the tag. COVER ART: Yes it is from the anime Log Horizon. It is a good representation of what earth looks like despite it not being many years in the future. DISCORD: https://discord.gg/s6V3hGV

Manufacturing Magic (LitRPG)
Ten million active players. One game master. Infinite Worlds is the most popular VRMMORPG on the market. Its maps are so vast, developer Hard Rock Data utilizes a network of highly advanced artificial intelligence to control it. But it's not without problems. That’s why game masters like Jeff Driscoll have jobs. The downside? He’s not allowed to play the game. Something about conflicts of interest and favoritism. His very boring and tedious job is to help players deal with the occasional bug that slips through the cracks and ensure they enjoy their time playing enough to give a five-star rating. It’s a gig that pays the bills. However, when the A.I.s unexpectedly issue a rogue patch, the game becomes a buggy mess, and Jeff's role radically changes. He finds himself as the only game master around, dealing with more problems than he can handle. It’s up to Jeff to return Infinite Worlds to normalcy...but will the A.I.s let him?
